About Nick Charlton

Janet and I are both 55 and are both self employed working from home. Janet has her own Music school teaching piano and I am a construction Project Manager. The business's are run from an office over the garage. We live in Holmfirth West Yorkshire on the edge of beautiful Yorkshire countryside. We have three boys 24, 28 and 30 who have all left home living and working as far away as America and Canada.

We are keen cyclist and walkers and walk the hills most days with our Jack Russel dog.

What makes this villa unique

We have good friends who have owned property in Portugal for over 15 yrs and visited their Villa frequently eventually falling in love with the area of the Western Algarve. The climate, cuisine and the ability to get away from the madding crowds on beautiful deserted beaches, walking or cycling in the local hills and countryside met everything that we wanted for a quiet retreat from our hectic life style at home. With the villa being only 1 hrs drive away from Faro it is ideal for a weekend or longer break. We found the perfect piece of building land in the perfect quiet location with wonderful views and had the villa built to our own design and specification. The villa now gives us a unique home from home and therefore also offers our guests the chance of the same experience.

Dear Nick & Janet, We had the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday at your lovely villa. So nice to spread out, very well appointed, loved the outdoor space, pool and everything. It was a great location and the stroll down to the town was just right, need to get a bit of exercise! Nick and Mick enjoyed the golf. Sadly the restaurant that you recommended near the villa appears to have closed? We loved Salema beach, and Burgau beach bar, altogether a very chilled time and it was nice as the management company let us stay until midday on departure day. We both thought it would be a lovely place to come back to with various family members. One thing is it would be nice to have wifi internet at the house! The only real problem was dogs barking at night, is this often a problem? The one next door liked to join in with what sounded like a pack of other dogs and we were often woken. Thanks again and by the way our friends are Mick & Debbie Hoyle so if they get in con.

Great summer break!

Had a great time at this Villa with another family with ages from 4 to 40! Great pool and loads of space all in a great condition! Walkable into Luz but taxis advisable if you have young ones and some great trips to Burgau and Lagos nearby. All in all a great two weeks - thanks

The Casa De Sonhos "The House of Dreams"

The Villa is situated in a quite area just off the main road that leads into Luz Bay. It is very well equipped and is beautiful furnished, the grounds are well maintained and has a good size swimming pool, plenty of sun beds and a lovely outdoor eating area. The wrap around balcony also has an outside eating area and has beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding areas. To walk into Luz takes about 20 minutes, there you will find plenty of bars, restaurants and you will enjoy a walk along the esplanade. There are two supermarkets for those all important provisions. Although there are excellent taxi services that are only a call away I would recommend hiring a car to get you about the surrounding areas.

Casa De Sonhos "The house of Dreams" lived up to its expectations and more!! If you are looking for a relaxing holiday to completely unwind then I would strongly recommend you book it!

Beautiful villa in excellent location.

We had a wonderful week in early August 2016 in this villa. The description of all the facilities is entirely accurate: it is very well equipped and maintained. The manager was very helpful when we needed advice. It was really hot when we were there and the pool and all the shady places on the terrace and balconies were very welcome. The garden with mature trees and shrubs is also a delight. We got airport transfers via the excellent Yellowfish transfers and then had a hire car for a short time and otherwise used local taxis. We took trips to Sagres to see dolphins; the local nature reserve; Montchique for the spa waters; Burgau for wonderful restaurants and Luz for the beach. You can walk to beach and local supermarket and restaurant within 20 minutes.

We would certainly recommend this property and would love to visit again.

Beautiful spacious villa

We've stayed at Casa dos Sonhos several times, in spring, autumn and at New Year. It's a stunning villa, very well designed and always immaculate. Breakfast on one of the balconies (there's a choice), overlooking the sea, is always a delight and there's also an option of the terrace by the pool. There are plenty of places for sunbathing, or for some mid-afternoon shade. The weather this new year was disappointing, but normally shorts, t-shirts and sunshades are the order of the day, even in early January! The master bedroom is enormous, as is its en-suite. The other double room is also en-suite while the remaining two bedrooms have their shower rooms very close by. All have plenty of storage space so you don't have to live out of the suitcase. The huge downstairs kitchen/dining/living area is open-plan so whoever is cooking can chat to the rest of the family/friends. The kitchen has every piece of cooking equipment you could possibly need and there's also a built-in barbeque just outside the French doors. That said, you don't have to cook; there are plenty of good restaurants in the area. Praia de Luz is about 15 minutes walk, either along the shore or by road and Burgau is 20 minutes over the clifftop walk to the west. Both are about 5 minutes by car and both have sandy beaches. We went down to the promenade at Lagos for the fireworks on New Year's Eve. They were spectacular this year, the best I've seen and there was also a concert in the square. Great atmosphere. There is another living room upstairs. This one has a fire for cooler evenings in winter and it's also well stocked with books and family board games. It feels like you're being welcomed into the owners' home. Lastly, the pool - it's really big so you can have a proper swim and there's also a litle pool for toddlers. House of Dreams

This is our 5th visit to Casa Dos Sonhos. The Villa is stunning and very spacious.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you can imagine, far better than mine at home! There is even a separate fridge in the utility room which my husband and I kept our wine and beer in.

There are 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms downstairs and 2 bedrooms/2bathrooms upstairs so its great if you come with another family to give each other space when required.

The pool has a small pool attached which is great for toddlers and smaller children. The pool can also be heated if required for an extra cost but I don't think you need it heated in the summer holidays.

The BBQ is great - which we used most nights.

The garden is good for the children to play in and has shady spots in the afternoon to keep little ones out of the sunshine.

The lounge upstairs has a TV with plenty English channels available and the there is FULL Wi-Fi in the house.

Praia Da Luz is around 15 minute walk away (approx. 8 Euro taxi) where there are plenty bars and fantastic restaurants and a beautiful beach. Lagos is slightly further around 10 minutes in a taxi (approx. 12 Euros) which is full of great shops, fish markets, fruit and vegetable markets, restaurants, bars etc...
