About the Owner

We live in North Yorkshire, England and have been renting Casa Ladera to holiday makers since 2003 and El Paso Dos since 2006.

We fell in love with Nerja after a spending a holiday there and pursued our dream of owning our own property in the sun. Since our recent retirement we like to spend as much time as possible in the area.

We get lots of positive feedback from our guests and it gives us great pleasure to be able to share our holiday home in this beautiful part of Spain

Guestbook comments from the manager

"Hard to know where to start, as I look to the pool no one can believe our week is over and we are nearly ready to go. Tranquil, blissful, everything we could need in the villa which had so many little touches to make our visit such a perfect holiday. Fab food at La Ciruela and Sebastian at Las Chinas is the most hospitable restauranteur. I have met bees, dragonflies, goats, donkeys, Mr Toad, swifts drinking from the pool, horses, turkeys and all the lovely birds. Loved it. Even our worldwise 20 year olds said they’d never seen anything like it. Just amazing."

Beautiful villa in a gorgeous secluded setting

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Casa Ladera 4 or 5 times now and it never fails to impress, we just love it. Communications with the owners Val and Kevin before, during and after our stay were excellent with lots of information and maps and a real determination to make our stay perfect. The villa is beautiful, spotlessly clean, well furnished and equipped with quality furniture, crockery, kitchenware and linens. Each bedroom has fitted wardrobes with drawers and quality beds and mattresses. Both bathrooms have lovely hot showers. The outdoor dining furniture and great BBQ allowed us to spend all day and evening outside, making the most of the hot days and warm nights. Air conditioning was a welcome addition ensuring a comfortable nights sleep. The kitchen was superb, well equipped with plenty of pots, pans utensils, a good sized fridge/freezer and dishwasher. We also made use of the washing machine. The garden is well kept and makes lounging by the pool a pleasure. The villa offers uninterrupted views of the mountains and is quiet, private and secluded so excellent for chillout.

As its so lovely we did not venture out too much this time and enjoyed being around the villa - the highlight of our day was when the goat bells could be heard in the afternoons and we could watch the herds graze and pass by. When we went out our favourites was enjoying a few drinks in the bars of Frigiliana, excellent Pizza at Pizzeria da Giuseppe in Frigiliana (who also do take away), Paella at Burriana Beach restaurants and cocktails at Cochran's Bar Terrace in Nerja - which has amazing sea views.

Can't wait for next time - highly recommended.

A perfect place to relax.

  • 5 of 5

Casa Ladera offers peace, tranquility and miles of unspoilt views. The villa is welcoming, beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. The minute we walked into Casa Ladera we felt 'at home'. The owners have carefully thought about and provided everything to make their guest's stay an enjoyable one. Val and Kevin were prompt in answering any queries and provided clear instructions, information about the area and directions to get to the villa. We enjoyed a couple of lunches out at the local restaurants which are about ten to fifteen minutes walk...downhill on the way back!! Shopped in main supermarkets about six miles away towards Nerja. Excellent choice of fresh produce, meat and fish. If like us, you enjoy a rural setting with amazing views of the mountains, this is the place for you!

A truly magnificent villa in stunning surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly wonderful 3 week visit at this little paradise in the beautiful countryside which we grew to love and adore as a home from home.Having stayed at several villas around Spain in the past this is by far and away the best in every way.

The villa itself has everything you could possibly wish for is spotless exceptionally well maintained has a lovely clean warm pool that always catches the sun from dawn to dusk and is encircled by tranquil gardens overlooking breathtaking countryside. It is so peaceful you hardly hear anything other than the goats coming down the mountain side in early evening the crickets happily chirping away all day and becoming more vocal until turning the volume down at sundown and the little red dragon fly that turned up to dance around the edge of the pool every morning! The villa is the last of three villas on a small winding track which mean't that we seldom heard another car apart from the weekly visit by Carmen the cleaner and Jose the pool maintenance man arriving on his moped from time to time.

The owners Kevin and Valerie are genuinely lovely kind people who went way out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay and were always on hand 24/7 contactable back home in the UK by phone or email should we need any information or assistance.

We spent the majority of our trip around the villa (it's so nice that it almost felt a shame to drag ourselves away which is unusual for us as we normally like to get out and about) breakfast by the pool lunchtime/dinner bbq's on the outside terrace overlooking the adjacent mountains glasses of chilled Freixinet at one of the garden tables it really never fails to impress.

When we did tear ourselves away we headed of to some of the superb little coves and beaches along the coast where it was quieter even for July/August than the more mainstream beaches in Nerja itself Canuelo beach being our favourite with good snorkelling opportunities to be had.We enjoyed Kayaking off Maro beach discovering little isolated coves and caves with crystal clear warm water horse riding around the fruit vineyards of Nerja and just driving off into the stunning interior of Andalucia off of the beaten track to experience the culture.(A little Spanish as always goes a long way to endearing yourself to the locals who are always helpful friendly and courteous.)

We really hope to return again in the near future and thank you both again for a stay we shall never forget.

The Perfect spanish Hideaway

  • 4 of 5

We are seasoned villa renters in Spain now and can safely say this is one of the best. We look for seclusion, privacy, peace and quiet. This place gave us all of that in abundance.

The villa is superbly equipped, maintained and very clean, a perfect size for a couple. The valley is charming and comes with a real feel of Spanish country living including goats herding, wild boar and the odd donkey, we loved it.

Nearby Frigiliana is the most picturesque authentic Spanish village, unspoilt and not in the least bit touristy yet with an amazing range of small restaurants and a couple of bars, everyone was so friendly.

The coastline is littered with small coves and gorgeous beaches all well worth exploring. Nerja is also lovely and can provide all that you need before heading back to the peace and charm of the valley.

This holiday is totally recommended

Tranquility and relaxation with the Wow factor!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow!! This little Villa certainly makes an impression!! As you drive off the road and onto the track which leads down to the Villa - Whooah!! As you stop the car at the bottom when you arrive and open the doors to complete peace disturbed only by the song of the crickets - Wow!! As you walk through the little gate and around to the veranda with the perfume of the jasmine - Wow!! Then you see the expanse of the mountain views - Wow!! A few steps more to the sparkling blue of the pool - Wow!! The interior of the Villa is perfect, providing everything you may need to make you feel at home, which was our immediate feeling. The bed is comfy and the shutters ensured we slept late most days - bliss!! Every facility you may need is there from lovely hot showers to instant WiFi; good oven and excellent BBQ and very efficient fridge for the all important drinks:)

The arrival of the goats, announced by the ringing bells just before they tumbled over the top of the hill side above the pool terrace was just lovely - who knew that goats could be so fascinating? We watched them for ages as they were herded around the valley hillsides. Mr Toad paid us a number of visits as did the little green tailed lizard and the neighbours ginger cat. Nerja is gorgeous and such an attractive traditional Spanish seaside town with just enough by way of nice restaurants and bars (and ice-cream shops) and lively street entertainers to make the journey for the evening meal well worth while. Casa Ladera veranda is ideal for late breakfasts and long lazy suppers whilst watching the sun go down, and a huge plus was not a mosquito in sight!! Suffice to say we didn't stray very far as the tranquil beauty of the view and the lure of the sun and the pool was too great. Maybe next time we'll go sight seeing ---- but I'm guessing we will stay put and enjoy our next visit as much as our first. We loved it and thank you Kevin and Val for sharing what is obviously your own much loved piece of paradise.
