About Amanda Lakin

We live mainly in the country in Sussex. My husband is a production designer and Fireworks technician. He was responsible for the Queens Jubilee display . He was also winner of the Cannes fireworks.

I have several properties in the UK, which I manage.

My husband was trained as an architect and now has his own event production business

My parents built the house 40 years ago, as a holiday house and we have all been there every year since.

Our children were brought up from babyhood with holidays at the house and now return with their own friends.

Amanda Lakin purchased this house in 1972

Why Amanda Lakin chose Gordes

We inherited the property from my parents approximately 10 years ago. they built the house having fallen in love with the area while staying with friends.

They love the food and the beautiful mountain villages.

What makes this house unique

The house is very peaceful and very easy to manage with stone floors throughout.

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

A spectacularly beautiful French villa with all the amenities. We had two couples and it was perfect (An ensuite in each of our rooms.) Perched on a small ridge, with an excellent pool, it was the perfect place to explore (e.g. Gordes) and relax. 6 stars!

Absolutely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

In searching for a home to rent in the Luberon I kept returning to Fontcaudette. My expectations were high and Fontcaudette delivered over and over. It is a beautiful home, perfectly located and equipped with everything you could possibly need to have a relaxing vacation. The kitchen is fabulous....well stocked with equipment including an ice maker.

We were a family of four adults spending our days at the various markets in the surrounding villages, sightseeing and coming home each afternoon to the fabulous pool. Dinners were served outside in the beautiful covered dining room. I can only hope we will return to Amanda's lovely retreat. Thank you Amanda.

6 "go mad" in Provence!

  • 5 of 5

We hired this wonderful house as a base for 6 middle aged cyclists (but not "mamils" I hasten to add). Our mission; to climb Mont Ventoux and survive for dinner (we succeeded).

The whole process of booking and communicating with the owner (Amanda) was totally trouble free - and all was as advertised and some! Beautiful property with stunning views across the Louberon Valley. The rooms and facilities were spot on and the pool was lovely and warm too.

It was easy to find and only a short drive to a number of classic hill top Provencale towns - Menerbes, Gordes, Oppede le Vieux, Lacoste, Bonnieux - we rode through them all and then went back in the evenings for some very fine dining at not unreasonable cost!

System U supermarket was only a 5 minute drive away and made stocking up on essentials simple.

The covered outdoor dining area was a lovely touch too - shame we couldn't have stayed longer to utilise the BBQ though!

Overall satisfaction was very high in our group with everyone asking where I found it and talking about coming back with their families.

No doubt we will.

Quiet Comfort

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house in a great location. A real home.

Sensational kitchen.... equipped to perfection. My wife made coq au vin for the first time. Quiet and comfortable. Would love to come back with better weather to enjoy the plentiful outdoor features; then perfect would be redefined Highly recommended!

This is a fantastic house with wonderful views.

  • 5 of 5

After many years of renting properties in Provence, we felt this was one of the best we have ever stayed in. It is a lovely house with two outdoor areas in which to eat (one is covered and sheltered, the other more open), both with fantastic views. The pool is beautiful and the water warmed by the sun so that the pool is really easy to get into however hot it is outside. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything worked well. I like having mesh over the windows to keep the bugs out and the downstairs bedroom was lovely and cool. We loved it and would definitely book it again.
