Casa in Nerja, Costa del Sol

This 3 bedroom casa is located on the north of Nerja, in the quiet area of urbanisation ‘El Algarrobo’. Just 20 minutes walk to the famous Burriana Beach. The property is built on 2 levels and is stylishly furnished to a high standard. It has its own private pool which has the sun all day. The patio is well furnished with 4 sun loungers, a four seat patio set and 6 seat dining table and chairs.. The lounge is very comfortable with modern sofas, satellite TV, and CD player. There is an additional dining area with table and 6 chairs and a large fully fitted kitchen. The master bedroom has a bathroom en suite with a balcony overlooking the pool and terrace area. From here there are lovely sea and mountain views and the balcony also catches the late evening sun which sets over the mountains.

About John Maguire

Hi, I am John Maguire and my wife Pat and I live in Southport in the North West of England. We visit Nerja as often as we can, generally about 3 to 4 times a year. However as we do not live in Spain we have appointed a management company who manage the running of the property for us. Amongst other things they ensure that the house is clean upon arrival and that all bed linen and towels are provided. We have been renting now over 10 for years and so far every one of our guests have said that they have had a lovely holiday. We realise that every one looks forward to their summer holiday and we want so much for you to enjoy your stay in our house.

Why John Maguire chose Nerja

Pat and I first visited Nerja in 2000. We were instantly delighted by its rustic charm and the way that it has retained so much of the natural Spanish way of life and is not over commercialised, as are so many other places on the Cost Del Sol. After our return home we saw an advert to purchase a 20% share in a villa in Nerja and after visiting once again we bought one of the shares from one of the 5 families that owned the property at that time. We were impressed with the space in the house, the quite location and the fact that it had its own private pool. However, one by one all of the other part owners sold out and moved on and Pat and I eventually ended up owning the house completely.

What makes this villa unique

The house is only 40 minutes drive from Malaga airport and is in a quite location but within easy reach of all amenities. The pool and terrace take the sun from early morning to late evening and is quite private which makes it ideal for improving the tan. We find that on many days we do not even leave the house and can relax and sunbathe in private. The famous Burriana beach is only 5 minutes drive away as is the center of town. There are two golf courses within a 20 minute drive and the famous Nerja Caves are only 10 minutes away. you can also drive up to Frigiliana which is about 15 kilometers away. This is a beautiful village with a labyrinth of narrow and winding cobbled streets, with meticulously maintained whitewashed houses, that provide a stunning contrast against the blue skies and red slate roofs. The colourful plant pots brimming with bougainvillea, lavender and jasmine all add an extra dash of colour to this enchanting Spanish village.

The Fabulous Nerja!

We have just spent a glorious week at John and Pat's beautiful Spanish villa - myself along with my 2 daughters & one of my daughters' partners. Where do I start? - all three bedrooms are upstairs & stunning.The photos of the villa are true but in reality the villa s much larger than reflected in these. The villa is immaculate, light, airy, welcoming, in fact from the moment we all walked through the door we felt at home. The bathrooms are immaculate. The kitchen equipped for any meal! The sitting room very comfortable with a tv that we only switched on once. The pool is amazing. We spent so much time in it cooling down before retreating to the loungers or shaded area for a cool drink. We really were spoilt for choice where to sit. The upstairs balcony was definitely our nightly chill out area to relax, chat and enjoy the spectacular view. Although a car would offer more opportunities, our visit was to unwind, eat, walk, sunbathe and enjoy total relaxation mostly at the villa. We enjoy walking and walked into Nerja several times and to the market. A taxi back from town was only 7 euros. Taxis operate by calling them as opposed to flagging them down. We walked 10 mins downhill to the Mercadona supermarket on our 1st day, did a large shop and called a taxi to take us back to the villa. The views are spectacular and we all agreed we would definitely return here to John and Pat's little piece of paradise - it was and is a fabulous choice for us. Thanks John and Pat.

Notes on accommodation: This property is ideal for families. It is very roomy throughout, with a spacious lounge and dining area, large kitchen and having it's own private pool. It is situated in a quite but friendly location and is only 20 minutes walk from the famous Burriani beach in Nerja. Outside: The patio is quite spacious and can readily accommodate 6 persons sunbathing around the pool. There is a 6 person table and chairs under a covered area and a retractable awning/sun shade. The patio and pool take the sun all day from around 9.30 in the morning until about 7.30 in the evening Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath towels and linen are included and the property is cleaned weekly, however, beach towels are not provided.

Lovely villa with amazing views

Having spent 3 hot days sightseeing in Granada, we were looking forward to arriving at the villa for some rest and relaxation.

After doing a large shop, buying some fantastic fresh fish, ( supermarkets at the bottom of the urbanisation ) we arrrived at John and Pat's wonderful villa.

The sea view from the pool area is spectacular and even better from the balcony off the master bedroom. While the villa itself was extremely well equipped and comfortable, the outside space with the pool, table and covered seating area, make this the perfect place for true outdoor living. Sitting back with a glass of chilled wine, peacefully watching the swallows swooping and dipping with that wonderful sea view, was the perfect remedy to a busy life.

Nerja itself has plenty of beaches but if you are happy to drive for a few minutes, Maro beach with its little cafe and water sports is a great find for a quieter, less touristy beach experience.

John and Pat were extremely helpful and we were very happy to spend a week in their home. We look forward to returning.

Exceptional villa for a perfect holiday

This is the second time we have visited this villa as we loved it so much. It doesn't disappoint on any level. It is well equipped, a lot of thought and effort has gone into making sure guests have everything they need. The location is so peaceful and yet near to the centre . We hired a scooter and saw lots of new places. We had the best holiday in a very long time. A true home from home in Spain thank you to John and pat for the opportunity. We would recommend this villa and have to anyone wanting a fantastic holiday.

Special Villa with fantastic views

We were a family of 3 adults and 3 children. The villa was exactly like the photos, very clean and comfortable.

The pool was a joy and some days we never left the poolside.

John was a wonderful host and was in continual communication with us.

Hope to visit Spain again and will definitelty visit Nerja and this villa.

Most relaxing of places to stay!

Wow, the photos just do not do the villa or the views justice!

This is a must place to go!

You open the door to the most welcoming and spacious of places, the lounge/dining area is far bigger than portrayed in the photos, as is the pool, which is a lot bigger than depicted. The bedrooms are light and airy, and with ceiling fans keeping the bedrooms nice and cool during the night.

First impressions as you walk through the door are just breath-taking, what a great place to spend a couple of weeks unwinding and relaxing, we were so chilled out by the end of the two weeks we were almost horizontal!

The villa is nestled on the side of the hill overlooking the town of Nerja, with some fantastic views from both the terrace and balcony, situated far enough away to give you a tranquil relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy being by the pool, but not too far away to enjoy the sites of sounds of Nerja.

Some really fantastic restaurants both locally and a little further afield. A trip to Frigliana which is about 15 minutes away by car well worth a visit, especially if you can tie in with the '3 Cultures' festival, which is the last weekend in August, the fireworks were amazing.

A car is probably essential, but local taxis are on hand and are relatively cheap, a round trip into Nerja is about 12 EUROS.

Don't just take my word for it, read the other reviews, this is a great place to stay for a couple of weeks.

Shame we've already booked somewhere else for 2017 otherwise we would have been booking with Pat & John again, hopefully 2018!

Beautiful villa with fantastic views

As soon as we walked in the door we felt relaxed. The villa was just perfect, clean, well equipped and so peaceful. We loved every minute of our stay and for the first time ever didn't want to go home. Would recommend some sort of transport as a bit hilly on the way home. We opted for a scooter and had a brilliant time. All in all the best holiday we have had, hope to go back again next year.

Truly Special, it ticks all the boxes!

We have stayed at Pat and John's villa almost every summer for the last 10 years. The moment we walk through the door we can totally relax.

We are a family with 3 children aged 14, 8 and 4 and this villa ticks all the boxes. It is fully equipped with large flat screen tv, docking station and wifi , fantastic pool and terrace with table and chairs, bbq, sun loungers , plenty of board games and DVDs , a garage full of buckets and spades and inflatables which suits all of our needs. There are 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs. The main bedroom has an ensuite with a balcony overlooking the sea and the town. It's a great place to sit, relax and enjoy the views. The pool and terrace are totally enclosed which is a necessity for little ones and it can be accessed by the kitchen and the lounge which both have safety grills fitted. Our children absolutely love the pool which is a must have in the Spanish heat. In fact all of our children have first learnt to swim in this pool.

The villa is situated in a quiet, well maintained, friendly urbanisation with wonderful sea views. The urbanisation itself, has a well stocked grocery store, bakery, restaurants and bars a short walk away or there are 2 larger supermarkets which are located on the main road at the bottom of the Urbanisation which is 2mins by car. Nerja Market day is Tuesday and it is held close by on a neighbouring Urbanisation.

Nerja itself still holds its traditional Spanish charm with many beautiful beaches and coves to explore. The town itself is lovely with charming shops, a huge variety of restaurants and bars without forgetting the Balcon de Europa which has amazing sea views.

Burriana sandy beach is great for children and is closest to the villa, only a couple of minutes in the car. Our favourite beach restaurant is El Moreno Merendero, located on the far right. Their paella is great.

Nerja caves, just 5 minutes drive away are a must see.

Nerja has something for all ages. It is advisable to hire a car so that you can explore the whole area. You are spoilt for choice with things to do in the surrounding area.

We absolutely love it here and always discover something new every visit . We have enjoyed so many happy holidays here over the years with different friends and family. Each time we have had a lovely, memorable time.

Pat and John are always very accommodating and lovely hosts. I would thoroughly recommend this villa in Nerja to anyone. It ticks all the boxes. Truly special!

The area around Nerja is very natural and there are many walking and cycling trials in the mountains.


The nearest beach is the famous Burriani beach in Nerja which is approximately 15 to 20 minutes walking and about 5 mins by car. The Burriani beach is just one of many natural beaches in Nerja and has all the local amenities such as bars' restaurants, cafes, shops etc. You can take a local paella for just a few euros and the hire of sun loungers is reasonably inexpensive


Malaga airport is the nearest airport and is approximately 45 minutes drive away. Malaga is serviced by most holiday and budget airlines, including Iberia, BA, Easyjet and Monarch Air The airport at Granada also offers an alternative and is served by Ryan Air, however, this is approximately one and a hour hours away.


The property is located in the urbanisation of El Allgarrob, which is next to the Capistrano complex/village. The nearest beach, Burriani beach, is about 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes walking. You can walk into the center of Nerja down to the Balcon De Europa within about 30 minutes or it will take about 7 minutes by car. The Caves of Drax is approximately 10 minutes by car and the market at Frigliana is about a 15 minute drive away.
