Cortijo at La Celada, Iznajar, - In an Olive Grove in the National Par

This stunning rural cortijo was restored to form a large and comfortable property split across 2 buildings. The rear building has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, the front building has 2 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom and a huge kitchen/living room. Any booking has sole occupancy regardless of numbers. There's wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher and three boilers for hot water. 2 bedrooms have balconies and there's a central courtyard plus terraces around the pool and a table tennis table and bats/balls. Its hillside position affords stunning views of the Subbetica National Park and distant mountains. Set 2 miles from the hamlet of La Celada and 5 miles from the traditional town of Iznajar with its 19km lake, the house is well located for local restaurants and shops. Rute is 10 minutes away and the cultural city of Granada including The Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada are only an hour away. The Roman city of Antequera can be reached within 30 minutes, Cordoba is an hour away and Seville 1 hour 30 minutes. Airports at Malaga and Granada are also only an hour's drive and are linked to many UK airports.

Notes on accommodation: There is hot and cold air-conditioning in three bedrooms and fans in the kitchen/living room and three bedrooms. Outside: 8m x 4m private pool. Outside shower. Pool terrace with thatched dining area seating 13, separate large thatched and cushioned relaxing area. Large barbeque. Second dining area on kitchen terrace seating 10 with sunshade plus separate shaded sitting area. Central courtyard with and shaded terrace. Pool and all terraces are south-facing. Utility Room: Second fridge. Sink and loo. Cupboards and shelves. Washing machine in one of the bathrooms. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided but not beach towels which should be brought. Beds and towels will be changed weekly. Beds will be made up ready on arrival and stripped by the cleaner at the end of the week. Spare linen/towels if needed. Other: There is a store room near the pool for sunshades, cushions and pool equipment. There is a large garage with a table tennis table.

Lovely villa in a great location

Just returned from a week here with family and friends, plenty of room for everyone, quality furnishings. Lovely pool with great views over olive groves from all the terraces. Whilst a little in the wilds, this suited us, not overlooked and very quiet. Highly recommend this property

La Mojeda, La Celeda....good value.

Nearby towns of Iznajar and Rute are well worth visits.

Rute supermarket has excellent fish counter.

Nice weather, nice views, nice pool, nice barbi, nice wifi and clean and spacious.

Master bedrooms excellent but two bedrooms not so good.

Pleasant reception staff.


Very steep steps down to kitchen

Entrance overgrown with scratchy cactus

Bit out of the way, there is a good restaurant on the junction with the main road but it is not within easy walking distance. The village of La Celeda isn't up to much.

The cactus on the edge of the track leading down to the villa that you mentioned has now been cut back. The teapot must have been broken before your visit and has now been replaced. Fantastic villa

I stayed here in a group of 8 friends and the villa was perfect to accommodate this amount of people. The set up is great, there are many different social spaces meaning it doesn't feel cramped at all and the views of the olive groves and surrounding hills are beautiful. The villa was nicely presented and clean and communication was easy and straightforward. The location is very rural so a car is needed but there are nearby towns for everything you need. Definitely recommend and would be happy to return.

Bishops stortford

Authentically Andalusian Villa with fab pool and views!

The Villa suited our party of seven adults perfectly. There was plenty of space and various dining areas to suit different times of day. The pool was fabulous with plenty of sunloungers and shady spots and a fantastic view. We had a particularly hot two weeks and so the air con ( which is in three of the bedrooms ) made a real difference but would have been appreciated in more of the rooms. We loved star gazing from the balconies as the skies were really clear.

The house was authentically Andalusian and lends itself to outside living so we didn't mind that the furniture was simple. The bathrooms were numerous which was great for us and were really well appointed. We appreciated the spare fridge for cold drinks.

The villa is really well situated between Seville, Córdoba and Granada all of which we managed to visit whilst we were there. If you plan on going to the Alhambra in busy holiday times do phone and prebook your times tickets. We loved discovering the area as we hadn't been to Spain before and were impressed by the local roads ( although the track leading to the house whilst not long was rather bumpy so most of us got out of the car as a precaution). The local supermarket in Rute was really good and better for meat than the large Carrefour in Lucena when we were there. We were also pleased with the value for money in the supermarkets especially compared with France and Italy.

Shaun was particularly helpful and looked after the pool really well.

We had such a relaxing holiday at this lovely villa and would thoroughly recommend it .

Brilliant property in a fabulous location!

inA very spacious house with an amazing view!

The property was clean and tidy.

Two of tghe bedrooms had a large balcony with stunning views.

It had everything we needed.

Showers always had an endless supply hot water and the rooms were very well done out.

The town of iznajar is 10 mins drive and is well worth a visit.

All 12 of us would definately book again.

Special interest holidays:

Cycling, walking, climbing in the Subettica National Park. Fishing, sailing, pedalos and canoeing on the lake at Iznajar. Wake boarding near Cordoba.


Lake Iznajar has a beach for swimming, sailing, canoes and pedalos.

1 hour's drive to a selection of beach resorts and water parks east and west of Malaga. To the east there are beaches at La Herrudura, Torre del Mar, Nerja and to the west, Marbella and Torremolinos


1 hour's drive from Malaga airport and 45 minutes from Granada airport. A car is essential due to the rural position of the house.


The hamlet of La Celada is 5 minutes drive and the town of Iznajar is 10 minutes drive. Set on a hill there is a beautiful castle and Church. Rute is 15 minutes away and has lots of shopping, regular markets and an excellent supermarket. The Roman city of Antequera is 30 mins where there is also a wolf park. The cultural splendour of Cordoba and Granada are 1 hour away, Seville 1 hour 30 mins.The Alhambra and ski-ing at Sierra Nevada are both 1 hour 15 minutes.

Further Details:

There are a selection of restaurants and bars in and around Iznajar including Cafe Verdi, Bar Rossi, El Charcon, a restaurant and hotel on the shore of the lake, Mecon de Naranja as you come into Rute and two excellent restautants in Salinas including the old railway station where you can eat alfresco on what was the station platform. These are all very good and offer great value. La Paloma near Salinas is a little more expensive, run by Italians and the food is superb. The kids can swim whilst you enjoy your lunch. There is also The Borbadilla 5 star hotel with three restaurants for a real treat but this is expensive. Worth popping in for a drink just to see it!
