Apartment on Porth Beach, Nr. Watergate Bay, Cornwall - Luxury Apartment With Fantastic Views And Very Convenient

Porth is a hamlet on Cornwall’s stunning north coast, nestling by a sandy child-friendly beach that is sheltered by rugged headlands. At the highest tides, the sea is literally a stone’s throw away, whilst low tide exposes a vast beach with rock pools and a freshwater stream. Porth has the convenience of being within walking distance of Newquay and its famous surfing beaches. The apartment is part of a converted Victorian house originally built in 1897, recently renovated to a very high specification and a 100 yards from Dove Cottage. The apartment is on the first floor, affording magnificent views across the beach. Large sash windows and high ceilings make it particularly light and spacious, while double glazing and central heating ensure that it is cosy on even the coldest winter evenings. Extremely well located with everything you need in an apartment. Lovely and clean and what an lovely view out of the window. Very nice setting, unfortunately for us we had shocking weather but that's the risk of a Staycation. The beach is lovely and the lifeguards restrict the beach to Body Boarders only, no surfers, which is excellent if, like us you have young children. Very helpful owners indeed. Would highly recommend.

Amazing holiday apartment - would highly recommend

We had an amazing week in this beautiful property - the rooms are much larger than they appear in the photos - the location is perfect - Porth beach is truly stunning and the location of the apartment is incredible - several times we noticed other tourists with green eyes seeing us going up the path to this beautiful house! There were so many things to do and see - we barely used the car once. The weather was kind to us which helped but the beaches were just stunning and our kids (aged 8 and 10) said it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The apartment was well equipped and both the housekeeper and owner were very pleasant and easy to deal with - all in all a wonderful holiday and we would love to go back again - many thanks.

Arrived to find a very clean and modern apartment with absolutly spectacular views over a wonderful beach. Great location for visiting so many brilliant places nearby such as Padstow and Bedruthan Steps (a must see), and is ideal for families and grown ups alike. Will definatly be coming back to this lovely apartment.

First Family Holiday in Cornwall

Our first holiday to Cornwall did not disappoint - we fell in love with it!! The location of the apartment is perfect - right on the beach. Our children were never bored once! We spent hours on the beach it was just so convenient! Early morning walks are lovely as are late evening ones! My husband & children loved the sea having a go at a spot of surfing while I relaxed in the sun!!! Everything you need is on your doorstep there is a cafe next door serving drinks, snacks & ice creams & a pub less than 5 minutes walk away! The hustle & bustle of Newquay is only 5 minutes in the car. It's also a great base to get out & about & see the sights of Cornwall - nothing is too far away!

The apartment itself is fabulous very comfortable, clean and modern and maintained to a very high standard. It has everything you could possibly need basically home from home. Very comfortable beds and a fabulous massage shower!!! Plenty of space for our children to play their games without getting under our feet!! The view from the living room was fabulous. Myself and my family were very comfortable there and didn't want our holiday to end.

This was our first ever 'stay-cation' and can honestly say we can't wait to return to Cornwall and when we do we will definitely stay here again - location and accommodation were 10/10!!!

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with Porth when our children were small, the gentle beach in front of the apartment is just perfect for little ones. As they grew into teenagers, they swapped their buckets and spades for boogie boards and ventured over the headland to beaches with larger waves (10 minute walk). Their growing independence allows us more time to enjoy romantic coastal walks and soak up the stunning views, but the family always want to come with us to the first class local restaurants.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

A few steps lead down from the property to the coast path and Porth beach. This is a gentle, sheltered beach ideal for young children and can be accessed from the apartment without crossing a road. From the opposite side of Porth beach, the coast path leads onto Porth Island with its breathtaking views. From here you can see some of some of the half dozen other sandy beaches within walking distance, ranging from a near-deserted hideaway to lively surfing beaches. These are described below.

Travel:

Most visitors drive, but a car is not essential. Newquay airport is 5 miles away. Newquay railway station and shopping are under 2 miles away. During the summer months, excursions are available from Newquay to various towns and attractions.

Distances:

A stone's throw from the beach. Pub and tapas bar 300m. A selection of restaurants in walking distance. Parade of shops and Tesco Metro 800m. Morrisons superstore 2 miles. Sainsburys 3 miles.

Further Details:

Out and About: Porth is an ideal location from which to explore everything Cornwall has to offer - family attractions, fishing villages, walking, surfing, old pubs, fine art and fine dining, to name a few. Padstow, with Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant is 14 miles. The Eden Project is 19 miles away and the cathedral town of Truro is 15 miles. Excursions to the Scilly Isles are available from Newquay airport.

Beach and surf lovers: A 500m stroll along the coast path leads you to Lusty Glaze beach. Surrounded by high cliffs on three sides, this beach is sheltered even on blustery days. There is a café/bar/restaurant on the beach and adventure activities such as abseiling and zipwire. A couple of miles to the north is Watergate Bay, a surfing beach where you will find a café/bar and Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen Cornwall’ restaurant (booking recommended). Between Porth and Watergate Bay are couple of near-deserted beaches accessible only on foot at low tide. Several of Newquay’s beaches are within walking distance. The famous Fistral surfing beach is only two and a half miles away and the National Trust’s Bedruthan Steps beach is six miles away. Several of the beaches have surf schools and offer wetsuit and board hire.
