This privately owned high quality 2-double bed, 2-bath relaxing penthouse apartment with shared large pool is equipped to a high standard and located in the charming village of Oroklini, on the east side of Larnaca (i.e. far from airport noise) and only 40 minutes from Nicosia.

About The Owner

I work for myself running my own consultancy company, Sapienta Economics Ltd. My main clients right now are the Economist Intelligence Unit (sister of Economist magazine) and the United Nations "good offices" mission. I have been living and working in Nicosia since 2002. This is the only property I rent and I visit it regularly to give it a lick of paint, replace broken glasses and generally make sure that it remains up to the high standard that guests expect. I haven't loaded a photo of myself because of the scare stories about ID theft!

Why The Owner chose Larnaca region

I find downtown Larnaca to be the most charming town in Cyprus and I liked Oroklini for its traditional feel. I bought the apartment itself because of the high quality of finish and the large pool.

What makes this apartment unique

Unlike many properties this apartment is equipped to a high standard with all the cutlery, crockery, even salt and pepper you might need for your stay. Broken or worn out equipment is regularly replaced to ensure that you enjoy the highest standards during your stay.

New, quieter, 'inverter' air-conditioning units made by GREE (supplier to Daikin) were installed in August 2010.

The apartment is professionally managed by a locally based company so that if there are any problems your needs will be immediately attended to. In the past four years I have always had repeat visitors (and that doesn't just include family!)

Notes on accommodation: Free WiFi via 4MB DSL (Cyta). Air-conditioning units are high quality inverter models and are twin mode, i.e. they can be set to heat in winter. There is also a convection heater. Outside: Shared swimming pool (1.5m at deepest, 1.0m at shallowest), regularly cleaned, with sun-loungers. Dimensions of pool unknown but much larger than most in the area. Note that pool is unsupervised therefore at user's risk. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Standard service includes full pre-arrival clean and preparation for arrival. Mid-let clean and laundry change available as extras on request. Other: Large balcony with two sun-loungers, four chairs, a table and a coal-fired barbecue.

The best apartment in the block!

The apartment is one of the best in the block - it is on the 2nd (last) floor with a great view on the village, valley and sea. You will have a huge terrace where you can do a barbecue (all equipment is there) or just see on the sofa and enjoy the sea view. The flat is facing the pool by the way, too. The block of flats has a very big parking - very convenient, too.

The kitchen is fully equipped - big fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, toaster, all the dishware and enough cookware. So, if you plan a long stay, cooking will be no problem at all. The bedrooms are cosy and have huge wardrobes with a billion of hangers (not very often found in hotels for example). The living room is very spacious and has a very nice area with a comfortable sofa and a TV. Internet is a broad band one, which is also a great advantage.

In Oroklini you will find a supermarket, several smaller shops and a couple butcheries and fantastic bakeries. Oroklini is very well located itself - 10 mins drive from Larnaca, 20 mins drive from the airport, 30 mins drive to the beautiful beaches of Agia Napa and Protaras.

The owner was always available, very responsive and helpful whatever our question or issue was.

The only drawback (in winter) is that the apartment is not on a sunny side and it could be quite chilly during winter months. To get it warm you will have to spend a lot on the electricity or just have proper clothes in your luggage. In summer I guess this is an advantage as you will spend less on the air conditioning.

I would stay here again without no doubt.

Great Choice

The flat was incredibly well equipped (even an ice-dispensing freezer!) and in a nice block around a pool. We found the village of Oroklini much nicer than the part by the beach, but the sea could be walked to in about 40 minutes if required. Loved the local tavernas, the salt lake with flamingo and the nice walk up the hill behind the apartment

Owner's Response: Glad you liked it. I try to make it a home from home. There is nothing worse than a self-catering place to find there is barely a cup in the cupboard, let alone no bottle-openers etc.
