Charming Fishermans Cottage

Overview

Property

Updated: 10-Oct-2016
Cottage in Bohortha, Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall - Quiet Location, 10 mins Walk to Beach and St Mawes Ferry

Where the road runs out in Bohortha you will find a cluster of cottages and a couple of farms. Mizpah is a charming fisherman’s cottage, tucked away at the end of a row of four. Beautiful, rarely busy, beaches are within easy walking, the closest being Porthbeor (10 mins). The Roseland Peninsula is a haven for walkers and a truly unspoilt part of Cornwall. Portscatho (3 miles) has a fantastic village shop, butcher, PO and two pubs. The area is renowned for quality pubs and restaurants. Eden, Heligan, National Maritime Museum at Falmouth all within easy reach.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks so much for the use of the cottage last week. We had a superb time and were thrilled with the peace and beauty of the location. It was so safe for George and he enjoyed the books in the lounge and the ceebeebies on the freeview, not to mention the walks, tractors, blackberries, beaches and St Mawes ferry.

It was great to have a bed as comfortable as one's own! Didn't want to come away. Loved the swims on deserted beaches. Would love to return. September 2009

Cosy Coastal Cottage

  • 4 of 5

A wonderful, cosy, cottage with a very well equipped modern kitchen, comfy beds and wifi. The garden has sea views and is large enough for children to run around and have fun. A peaceful bolthole for relaxation, very near the coastal path and the amazing walks that the Roseland provides. This is life as it used to be.

Location

From the Owner

My mother-in-law bought the cottage as a holiday home in the 1990's. My husband and I took the cottage on 5 years ago and we have enjoyed many happy holidays there with our 3 girls. We put in new beds and mattresses and started providing bedlinen and towels from The White Company. We have re carpeted and redecorated. Last year we put in a new sofa. This winter we have re roofed, put in central heating (very cosy!) and a new kitchen with limestone floor. Also re tiled the bathroom.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Unspoilt Porthbeor beach 10min walk. Many other beaches within 30 min walk. Huge range of beaches within 30 min drive. Bohortha is the last village you come to on the way to St Anthony's Head. This is a beautiful area with a stunning selection of beaches to choose from. The coastal path is only 5 minutes walk from the cottage.

Travel:

Use of car recommended.

Distances:

Portscatho 3 miles. St Mawes 15/20 mins by boat or car! Eden project/Heligan 30 mins. Falmouth 35 mins by car or boat. Truro 40 minutes.

Further Details:

Locally there is a great choice of pubs and restaurants. Nearest supermarket is St Austell. Tesco and Sainsburys deliver. Village shop in Portscatho is fantastic and sells everything! Daily fresh fish, fruit and veg.

Facilities

From the Owner

We love being off the beaten track with a safe garden for the children to run around in. This area is truly unspoilt and uncrowded. We walk to Porthbeor beach with a picnic and even in August this beach is never crowded. On the odd wet day (!) we visit Falmouth or The Eden Project or take the ferry over to St Mawes for an ice-cream.
