Guestbook comments from the owner

August 2010

13 of us – 3 families comprising of 6 adults and 7 children hired both gites for a week in August 2010.

We had a fantastic holiday. The accommodation / grounds / hosts / surrounding area are all fantastic.

Colin and Joy are the perfect hosts, and we were grateful for the excellent places they recommended for us to visit.

Unfortunately, our week came to an end far too quickly. BUT, we do intend to return to Le Petit Lac as soon as we can.

Thank you to Colin and Joy from the Crossley Family !

Domfront town dates back to the 11th century, the first fortification being erected on a sandstone promontory, which overlooked the Varene around 1010.

Domfront was surrounded with deep moats and an enclosed wall built by Guillaume de Talvas. For many centuries Domfront castle was one of France's strong holds due to its strategic position. Today it offers great exploring for young and old, through the winding cobbled streets.

Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo are all 1.5 hours easy driving away. The roads are good from all 3 ports with Domfront placed on the Route National 176.

Calais is a 5 to 5.5 hour drive on very good roads.

Cannot wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

Third visit with 3 children and 2 adults. Plenty of room for us all. The pool was fab on the couple of hot days. It was very wet during our stay, but board games, hide and seek and sharing family dvds, was some quality time spent together. Lots of places to visit not so far away. Hosts are great and always have local knowledge to pass on to us (markets, fireworks etc). There is a large garden with decking, bbq and pool.Enough space for badminton, swingball and sunbathing. They are the best surroundings for relaxing and listening to the birds!! Local restaurants are family friendly and not overly expensive.

Looking forward to coming back in 2016
