Apartment in Alvor, Vila Marachique, Western Algarve - Views Over 3 Acre Gardens And Pool

Vila Marachique is a quiet, private complex about 1,4km from the beaches and the centre of Alvor and 3km from Portimao. This complex has beautiful gardens in which there is a large lake size swimming pool for adults, a children’s splash pool (1st Apr - 15th. Oct) and a children’s playground. There is a poolside bar that dispenses drinks/snacks. The apartment is on the 2nd floor (with lift) with a balcony overlooking the 3 acre gardens and pool. Because of its ideal location, guests can reach the nearby fishing town of Alvor by car or on foot, where there are many restaurants and bars.

Lagos and other larger towns are just a short drive or sea taxi from the apartment which offer Water Parks, Zoo's & Water Sports Centres. There's plenty to do.

About the Owner

Hi, my name is Jerome Holt and my family have owned this apartment for several years.

It used to be a place of permanent residence for my father but it has purely been a holiday let for the last 5 years.

We have experienced many of our bookings return year after year to the apartment, based on the the quality service and standards we have put in place.

I am the Managing Director of my own letting agency, based in the West Midlands, UK.

Customer service is a major part of what we do and although we aren't based in Portugal, we have a great relationship with our managing agent who will ensure that your stay will be enjoyable and as promised.

Because family used to reside at this apartment full time, it it offers a full range of appliances and kitchen equipment and offers full home from home facilities compared to others in the complex. The positioning of the apartment is ideal and offers views over the gardens and pool compared to other who's balconies look out over the road.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Following NATURE 2000, the Area of Alvor and surrounds is ideal for Bird Watching enthusiasts and Artists.

There is a small local Airport with Sky Diving facilities, and opportunities to book accompanied flights by the hour.

Boat Trips from the Harbour are available for scenic interest, Dolphin watching or general fishing trips.


The quaint old town of Alvor has some of the best beaches in the Algarve. Rocky at one end and flat sands to the other and also a marina where you can watch the fishing boats come in. These are within a 15min walk of the apartment. A short drive will take you to the famous Praia de Rocha beaches or the town of Portimão and Lagos.


Faro is the nearest airport which is an approx 55 min drive away. Car hire is not essential but an advantage if you want to explore the area. There is a private underground secure garage if required.


Alvor is a shortwalk away or approx. 4 euros by Taxi; Portimao and Alvor village bus stop is right outside the complex.

Places to visit nearby: Lagoa, visit the Adega Co-Operativo winery and sample some of their wines. Silves Moorish town, Castle and Cork Museum. Loule for the Saturday market. Monchique with its breathtaking mountain and spas. Portimâo, which is the second city in the Algarve, famous for it’s fishing and canning. Porches, unspoiled village world famous for its pottery and has the first Algarvian chimney. Lagos with its large marina. Slide and Splash is a 15 mins drive. Zoomarine about a 30 mins drive. The tourist office in Alvor will provide the tourist with all information including coach travel to the above.

Booking Notes:
20% deposit will confirm the booking and the balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to start of holiday. Joana, my English speaking agent in Alvor will meet you with the keys and will be on hand during your stay.

Changeover Day:
Change over day is flexible. The arrival and departure times are also flexible but dependant on previous and following clients. As a norm, arrival 3pm departure 10.30am.

All this can be seen from the apartment balcony. Secure access only via intercom or key. Secure underground nominated car parking area. Outside: Situated in beautifully manicured 3 acre gardens. Large grass area. Incorporating a very large shared pool, small children's splash pool and children's play area. Sun loungers by the pool(these in season only & subject to management). Utility Room: There are 2 portable fans and 1 heater and hoover. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment is fully serviced for arrival and if staying more than 1 week towels and linen will be changed at the end of each week. Beach and pool towels not provided. Other: Great dining/sitting balcony offering views of the beautiful gardens and pool area.
