Delightful Old Stone House in Provencal Hilltop Village

Bedrooms 2

About the property

Peaceful Location, Stunning Scenery, sleeps 4/6, private terrac garden

The picturesque village of L'Epine, (altitude 800m) is in the south-west corner of the department Hautes-Alpes in the Pays du Buech, near the border of the Drome Provencal. Being uniquely situated on the border between Provence and Dauphine, both the rugged and untamed landscapes of the Southern Alps and the lavender and sunflower fields of Provence are on your doorstep. The region also boasts 300 days sunshine a year! With a population of just 150, the village is small, peaceful and unspoilt. There is an 'auberge' where bread can be ordered, a post-office and visiting greengrocer and butcher. There are resident artists and honey producers. Ten minutes away by car, in the larger village of Serres, there is a good selection of shops for all your needs, as well as a weekly market selling local produce such as lavender honey, cheeses and marinated olives. Between L'Epine and Serres are 2 good restaurants.

About Michael Taylor

My name is Mike Taylor and I manage this property on behalf of my daughter Alexandra to whom it has been left in trust by her mother. By profession I am a commercial property consultant and live in Battle in East Sussex with my partner Deborah and our daughter (16 years old).

Michael Taylor purchased this in 2003

Why Michael Taylor chose L'Épine

Lovely unspoiled area, not full of tourists or Brits. The people in the village are very friendly and it is great walking country.

What makes this unique

The house is full of character situated in the centre of this ancient village. Larger village with all amenities is only 5 minutes drive away. We just love it. Something very individual about the house and the area. Do look at all the photos on the website and see for your self.
