THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL - DETAILS ARE FOR NON PAYING GUEST INFORMATION ONLY. Located in a quiet part of Son Parc with off road parking for your car. The downstairs comprises a well equipped kitchen, downstairs toilet and good sized lounge. Upstairs the main double bedroom has fully fitted wardrobes and a balcony. The rear bedroom also has a fitted cupboard and small balcony. As we use this frequently ourselves it is fitted out to a good standard and regularly maintained. It is very well equipped throughout and from April 2017 has good Wi-Fi to enable TV streaming from your device. Outside there is a large communal pool and a safe shallow pool for toddlers. A sun terrace overlooks the pool area, whilst not being on top of it. There are well maintained enclosed communal gardens and play equipment for younger children. It takes no longer than 10 minutes to walk to the beach via steps or a more gentle stroll through the sand dunes. The centre of Son Parc is again a 10 minute walk with a good variety of restaurants, bars and shops. Son Parc golf course is a 5 minute drive and provides good quality golfing. Because of the proximity of all facilities a car is recommended but not essential making it a great base for your holiday. The adjoining resort of Arenal is also accessible by foot (25 minutes) or Car, which gives you great variety.
"value for money is incomparable" "still think the beach here is the best we've ever been to" "the facilities are excellent"
As a family of 5 we really appreciated the extra bed (sofa bed, which we moved easily upstairs to join everyone else) and all the extra bedding and towels were really useful. A few things that were not listed which might be worth knowing before you decide to book, and they are not biggies but worth knowing....
1) is there is NO wifi even though the listing says "internet", we had to fork out a lot of extra money for roaming data so we could use google to search the local area for ideas for day trips.
2) the pool has hours of use which are 10am-9pm, so no swimming allowed outside of those times, a bit tricky when children are raring to go by 8am however we soon worked out that getting down to the beach before the midday heat was a winner!
3) the common sunbeds around the pool are really uncomfortable and private padded mats would have been a great addition to the apartment. However, we did like the fact that we could take sunbeds and put them right outside the apartment on the grass for the day.
Overall we had a lovely break, the apartment is fully equipped and we were able to cook perfectly fine. We used the big supermarkets on the Poligono (Lidl, Mercadona etc) which is more affordable than the local Spar Supermarkets.
We love Son Parc because of how quiet it is, we hired a car and easily traveled to other bays, markets and water parks.
We had EXCELLENT customer service from the owners, thank you so much!
The property is right on the edge of a purpose built holiday home area. It is very well presented, although much smaller than we expected. We personally felt it would be a struggle for six people. It is very well equipped although there isn't any wifi as suggested in the details. The sun terrace as pictured in the details is small - just room for the table. There is a larger seating area at the rear of the property but this is lower than ground level and therefore the outlook is just white walls. The property was immaculately clean and the owners have been extremely helpful, great customer service.
The resort itself is very very quiet with a limited selection of restaurants - these were ok but not what we would perceive as typically Spanish. The supermarkets are only convenience stores that cater for basic needs. The resort is very quiet in the evening & we felt that it is not the place to go if you have children any older than 10/11yrs. A car is a must!! The buses are super BUT the last ones back to Son Parc are early - either 5.45 or 6.45, which means you're a bit stuck in the resort in the evenings.
The property is lovely, but the resort was just too quiet.
Lovely, clean, spacious apartment, couldnt ask for anything more. So glad we chose a s/c holiday as we tried the various restaurants which the 'apartment notes/ideas' gave us.
The area we stayed is great for families as it's lovely & quiet with plenty to do for the children. The apartment itself is in a great location with only short walks to anywhere, unless you want to go into the main town (Mahon) which there is a regular bus near too!
Will definitely recommend this place.. We had a fantastic holiday x
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here over the last 7 or 8 years or so, we are never disappointed. The property is immaculately clean and on each occasion has been 'freshened' up by new pictures on the walls and other 'nic nacks'. The property backs onto the shared pool area which is kept very clean and tidy (shallow toddler pool and 10 meter isn pool, 2.2m at one end). The pool is shared with about 15-20 other properties but is never that busy.
Son Parc is quite a large development but it never feels over developed. There are 3 supermarkets within walking distance, a number of restaurants, the best of which is the Paramor owned by Tony and his family and the golf club is great to eat at in the evenings as well.
The highlight though is Son Parc's very own 'Caribbean' style sandy beach with tropical turquoise blue waters - amazing. Only 10 minutes walk, either using some steeps steps as a short cut, or a gentle slope that takes 5 minutes more.
Menorca is beautiful, you could stay at Son Parc but if you can get out to other beaches you will not be disappointed.
We will definitely re-visit, thank you.
We spent a lovely week in this Son Parc Villa. The owners were very helpful and the villa had all and more than we needed. Lovely and clean villa, so peaceful too, with supermarkets, buses all you need close by. The villa is so close to the beach and its fun finding the different ways down to it. Beaches are lovely and crystal clear and shallow. You must take the walk along the path to "Arena de Castel" beach and restaurants, the fish was lovely. Brilliant Hotel Reception they have maps. The kids loved the trip to Mayo and the glass bottom boats. We didn't hire a car this time and used the very good bus service which runs from just past the hotel reception, again timetable from reception. So much to do we ran out of time. Of course the weather was amazing in the 30's and we even had the Horse Fiesta in Forrnells which was fabulous. Please try the fish in Forrnells, its simply the best! We will definetely go back as we didn't do everything, not enough time :-).
Coast/Beach:
Son Parc beach is a 10 minute walk away. This is a wide horseshoe shaped bay, which provides excellent safe bathing, snorkelling, etc. It is attended by professional lifeguards during the summer season. There is parking adjacent to the beach, should you wish to take the car, and a good snack bar. Other than this, it is unspoilt by commercialism.
Travel:
Mahon airport is a 25 minute drive, and Son Parc is easy to find. Car hire is availble at the airport, but we would recommend pre-booking this. Taxis operate from the airport at a charge of about 35 Euros
Distances:
Most places in Menorca are easily reached via a good network of quality roads, and Son Parc provides an ideal base from which to explore the island. Nearest resorts incude Fornells - a 10 minute drive away, and Arenal D'en Castell, 10 minutes in the opposite direction. These are larger resorts offering a wide choice of shops and restaurants. Mahon and Cuitadella are the main towns and well worth a visit. These are approximately 35 minutes from your base at Son Parc.
Further Details:
The resort has recently gained an outdoor adventure play area for children as well as a running circuit within a shaded are of trees. This is a nice addition and enables you to run off any extra calories you may put on during your holiday.
