About the property

Granary in Biddenden, Nr. Tenterden, Kent - On The Outskirts Of The Historic Village Of Biddenden Beside Chart Hills Golf Course

Refurbished to a very high standard and set in a quiet and private location within the grounds of a 16th Century farmhouse, Standen Granary offers a convenient base for exploring Kent and the South East. It has a modern studio style living and kitchen area downstairs (the beamed ceiling is low - 6'2' so unsuitable for very tall guests!). Upstairs the double bedroom is beautifully furnished and features a vaulted, beamed ceiling giving a cosy, romantic atmosphere. A glazed door leads to a private balcony where you can enjoy the sun. Off the bedroom lies the superbly fitted shower room. Ample secure parking.

We never badger our guests for reviews so the reviews listed are from those who have chosen to leave comments themselves. We do have a guest book in the Granary full of lovely comments, we have even had a proposal on the balcony!

Please contact me for prices. High season £495 pw Low season £350 pw. Weekly bookings ONLY until within 4 weeks of the arrival date then charged at £95 per night. Owners Direct pricing is incorrect.

About Cecilia Buchanan

I am a Mum, sculptor and TV and Film extra and my husband, Angus is an engineer and Company Director. He has been building a full sized aeroplane in the barn for many years so our regulars have witnessed its progress with great interest. This year it has reached the painting stage so he is beside himself with excitement!

Why Cecilia Buchanan chose Kent

We love Kent. I was born and grew up here before moving to Glasgow where I met Angus. We moved back south when he got a job in London and found this beautiful house. The Granary was an office when we arrived. In 2007 we stripped it out and converted it into a holiday let and have been with Owners Direct since then.

The nearest airport is Gatwick which is under an hour's drive away. Heathrow approx 1 hour 15 mins, Stansted approx 1 hour 30 mins. Dover, Folkestone and the Eurotunnel connection to the Continent are approximately 30 mins drive. Ashford International Station is 25 mins away. Trains from Headcorn Station, 7 mins drive away, run regularly to London Charing Cross with a journey time of one hour 15 mins.

Biddenden village 1 min, Headcorn 7 mins, Cranbrook 10 mins, Tenterden 15 mins, Ashford 25 mins, Maidstone 25 mins.

Further Details:

Biddenden has a general store, several restaurants, post office and hairdresser. Headcorn has good shopping including a Sainsbury’s Local open 'til 10pm, cash point, chemist (pharmacy) and mainline station. Kent is called the Garden of England. There are so many historic places of interest including Canterbury Cathedral and Leeds Castle that it is impossible to list them all! Beautiful scenery, excellent walks, gardens, steam trains and plenty more will keep you busy throughout your stay.

Lovely cottage near lovely villages and great hosts

Finding th granary can be a little hard initially, so would suggest getting directions from Cecilia.

Hosts were very helpful and friendly and the granary was very cute, clean and well appointed

The little villages in the local vicinity are very pretty and have some good places to eat

Great place to explore Kent.

We were very impressed by the thoughtful gifts you left us. We really enjoyed the wine and the apple juice. The honey was perfect on our toast for breakfast. We found the cottage very well equipped right down to the smallest detail. You had put a lot of thought into it and we really appreciated it.

We really enjoyed staying here and found it a perfect place to explore Kent and to make use of our National trust Membership.

It was nice to be able to have a glass of wine on the verandah in the evening. After exploring several castles such as , Bodiam , Scotney it was great to sleep in such a comfortable bed.

We really enjoyed our weekend here.

Great holiday retreat

Standen Granary was an ideal spot for our sightseeing holiday in Kent.

We really appreciated the lovely gifts of homemade apple juice and biscuits on arrival, they were delicious.

The accommodation is very well equipped the only suggestion I have Cecilia is maybe get a new sofa (not very comfy for relaxing nights in)

However I would definitely book again if I returned to Kent for a holiday

A very well-appointed small conversion in the Heart of Kent, ideal for visiting all those historic properties, gorgeous gardens and beautiful beach at Camber Sands. The owners have gone to great lengths to fit a lot into a little and the quality is excellent.
