The beach! We love the beach, barely 4 kms. We chose this area for its excellent climate, offering warm, lazy spring & autumn days & long hot summers. There is something for every age group in the general area, the beaches being a particular attraction. We bought this huge old place in 1995 & restored it ourselves.Old properties, dating to the 17th century. Staff available if there is anything you need.
Catherine Broughton purchased this cottage in 1995
We have always been interested in history, and this property is loaded with it. Nazis occupied the Chateau during WWII. The original property was much bigger and was burnt to the ground during the French Revolution. We have kept as much as we possibly can of the old features and have worked hard at retaining the traditional rural character of the place. You will not find stream-lined bathrooms and kitchens here, though there is of course everything you need for a wonderful holiday - sunshine included, all being well !
proximity of beaches
marvellous solar-heated pool
very child-friendly and secure (that is the one thing families comment on every year)
personal service
We were not disappointed with this. It is a very old cottage, so a bit on the dark side, but with several extremely interesting features, and not at all expensive. We were greeted by the owner's son, who was very helpful. We made a mistake in bringing our own bedding and in future would hire it, towels likewise, but apart from that drag of having to make up our own beds when we were very tired it was a great holiday. The village restaurant seems to be shut half the time, but there is a nice general store and a baker, all just one minute's walk away. There is a road not far with a bit of a background hum of traffic, but nothing that bothered us. All in all very good.
Booking Notes:
Please email or telephone us to confirm availability. Please note that there are 3 two-bedroom cottages, and 2 three-bedroom cottages so the calendar will only show FULL when both/all are booked. We need to know the dates and number of people and children. We require a small deposit (part of the rent) immediately, with the balance in two/three payments. Upon receipt of deposit we will send you further information on the area and confirm details. Linen, cot etc. can be hired, let us know. Linen, in cottages at 15e pp and in Chateau at 15e pp includes all bedding, towels, bath mats, tea towels & beds will be made. WiFi .
Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday during high season but we can sometimes be more flexible out of season.
Notes on prices:
All cottage prices are based on 2 people per bedroom; we charge a small supplement for one extra person per cottage. In the Chateau we take 12 people with a supplement for up to 2 extra people - the property will take more but we find it creates too much wear and tear. Utilities are included in peak season. Bed linen and towels available for a small fee, also cot, high chair etc. - just let me know.
Thoroughly recommend this as a beautiful place to stay. Family friendly. Well positioned
Lovely french stone cottages, all mod cons, fab for kids as fully enclosed, lovely staff, really close to several tourist hotspots, the beach and restaurants. Have already booked for next year!
We had a lovely holiday thank you! A very comfortable cottage which had everything we needed plus the huge pool outside which the children loved. So much to see and do in the area! Thankyou!
We take pets only in low season and by prior arrangement. Prices are based on 2 people per bedroom
