We had 2 fantastic weeks at your lovely house in France last summer and I wondered if we could book 2 weeks next year - Reed Family 2013

Thank you for allowing us to rent your lovely, comfortable home. Truly lovely. We had a totally relaxed fortnight. We loved the peace and quiet and your home was perfect just for the two of us. Thank you again and hope to come back next year - Moore Family, Devon 2012

After such a long journey, it was so nice to arrive at Volet Lavande and relax in such beautiful surroundings. The house is very well presented and the enclosed garden was great for our golden retriever to play in safely. We would recommend visiting Richelieu’s grand parc (hire and row boat) and Chateau Ussé (Sleeping Beauty). A must for garden lovers is Villandry and Tours is particularly pretty in the Ancien Quarter. We wish we could stay for longer!- McCullochs, Perthshire.

perfect week !

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Bourgeoisie House, the piece and quite was welcome and although in the heart of a very small village there was little evidence of anyone else near by.

The house was perfect .. very well looked after and maintained and spotlessly clean, well equipped even down to the 500 plus films one could pick to watch I the evening.

The local town has everything you need with great shops and supermarket.

A great place to stay and relax - thank you

Volet Lavande

  • 4 of 5

Volet Lavande was an excellent choice for our holiday. The house has enormous charm, and is spacious, very well furnished, extremely comfortable and well equipped. The large garden is completely enclosed by walls and barns of great character, making it perfect for dogs as well as humans. There's an extremely comfortable seating area outside, where we spent a great deal of time, just next to the wine cave! The nearby town of Loudun is great to stroll around and has a fascinating and macabre history, as well as excellent shops and supermarkets - it's well worth visiting the weekly market as well. There are numerous delightful villages and towns only a very short drive away, and the great chateaux and sites of the Loire valley are only a little further away, and again are a very easy drive - there's a great deal to do and see in the whole area. It's a great place to relax and unwind, and we were extremely well looked after by the house's local representatives; we were sad to leave after only a fortnight, and would thoroughly recommend Volet Lavande.

A true French Idyll

  • 5 of 5

Arrived a few hours later than planned due to a delay on the Eurotunnel. Cheered up immediately the minute we came through the huge gate to our home for the next two weeks. It is everything you could want in a holiday in the French Countryside. Once the big gate is closed the garden is completely enclosed which makes it perfect for families with small children or (like us) a very curious Springer Spaniel. The outside area is very well laid out. We particularly liked the patio area with the sofa and beautiful light fitting. (We nicknamed it the Cosy Café as we spent so much time drinking wine, reading & relaxing there in the evenings). The pool was a godsend as the weather was glorious. The house itself is immaculate and has everything you could need. My partner loved the big fridge with the ice maker to the point he wants one at home now!! The bed in the master bedroom is so comfortable. If you can drag yourself away from the property (and it is difficult!!) there are lots of lovely places to visit for lunch - Chinon, Saumur, Amboise to name a few. All in all it was a wonderful holiday in a magical place. Will definitely return and would highly recommend.

Lovely house and garden

  • 4 of 5

Lovely comfortable house, beautifully restored with lots of space for all the family and a big, private, sunny garden. Plenty to do in the surrounding area and nice to return to enjoy sitting in the garden, playing table tennis or swimming in the pool. Excellent collection of films to watch in the evenings.

Holiday 2013

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week here at the end of July. The weather was superb, the accommodation was perfect and was truly a relaxing holiday. We loved the outdoor space and private pool, plenty of eating outside and splashing around in the pool. The table tennis was good too, along with BBQ and my hubby even used one of the bikes although the bikes could do with a little service! Plenty of places to see providing you have a car, we were happy to visit local villages/towns in the morning and just relax in the pool/ garden in the afternoon. Would love to come back as the house is amazing too, plenty of space for the family. Wish we had spent 2 weeks here, would definitely recommend. :)

Owner's Response: Thanks Penny, yes, the bikes are due a revamp! Will address that before next season! Glad you had a good time, it's a very relaxing place to be and always so much to see and do, or if you prefer, just unwind in the garden... simple!

Location

From the Owner

We went on holiday to France and just melted into the relaxed lifestyle and the area. Close to so much including 3 airports! We have become chateau hunters and expert tree climbers! Every time we go, we do something different or go somewhere we've never been, whether the weather is with us or against us - there's the beautiful city of Saumur, Chinon and a little further out is Amboise - a must. If you are missing the sea, there is also a man made lake nearby (doesn't sound great, but there are extreme sports there, not to mention pedalos, canoes, boules, a park and a curly slide! The nearby markets always offer something new to eat and wear and the slow pace of life in France makes you get off the merry go round of life in the UK. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Facilities

From the Owner

The house is typically French, it was once a farm and somewhere in between a school. The garden is fully enclosed, we have an above ground pool, safer for smaller children but big enough for the big kids. The rooms are very large and in keeping with French style. It is more like a home than a holiday let we're told, but with the 'convenience' of modern appliances and technology! The house is well situated near the town of Loudun for amenities but also is very central for the many Chateaus and parks in the area. The house has a large wine cave which is usual in this area and many of the caves go for miles around the village, if you are lucky, our neighbour might take you for tour of his caves, which house bats and a bar! Our English housekeeper offers dog and child sitting service too!
