Large Townhouse in Osuna

Overview

Property

Updated: 22-Nov-2016
Townhouse in Osuna, Seville, Andalucia - Come and Stay in our 16th Century House in the Heart of Andalucía

Carefully restored and very comfortable, with masses of space and a pool. The house is in a friendly medieval town called Osuna, impressive on its own account and for enjoying the sunshine but also a good centre for touring - Granada, Córdoba, Seville and Ronda are all nearby as is the Sierra Norte de Sevilla National Park. Osuna isn’t a tourist town - don't expect anyone to speak English - but it has plenty of tapas bars and restaurants. The house has 4 large double/twin rooms, good kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 bathrooms and a garden with a pool. Big enough for a party but we’re happy to rent it out for 1 or 2 couples.

About the Owner

We were really looking looking for a place to give us winter sun and came across Osuna and, as the cliche goes, fell in love with it. And then we found the house which was nice then and now, five years later, even nicer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'We had a fabulous time. The weather was hot as expected and the fans really came in handy. Thank you for your recomendations and tips about Osuna... We also made our way to Granada, Sevilla and Cadiz. We will certainly recomend your villa' CA and PB , Ealing, London

'We thought your townhouse delightful and so conveniently situated' SR, Henley-on-Thames

'Thank you for the loveliest holiday. We had a lovely, lovely time and so enjoyed your home and the village… We visited Seville (saw Real Betis play Racing Santander - the children hadn't been to a live football match in that big a stadium before and were amazed) and visited Cordoba on our only rainy day… The children say thank you for letting them use the games (I lost at monopoly) and the table football we had a fun tournament - which we closed up carefully when we left' EA Cambridge

Brilliant base to explore to area!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Osuna for 6 nights. We were met by Carmen the property manager/cleaner who was very accommodating and friendly she showed us the property and help us settle in. This is one of the most homely properties we stayed in during our travels. The townhouse was extremely spacious and very well appointed in a lovely traditional street. Just a note be careful where you park your car as the street is narrow in places. Luckily the sun did come out during some our stay so we were able to enjoy a game of family foosball with the kids in the back garden and when the temperature dropped and it was raining we just made ourselves comfortable in front of the fire in the evenings. We walked around the town exploring and dined out most nights in Osuna. We used the house as a base to explore Cordoba and Ronda which worked perfectly. Jeremy and Anne have obviously explored the area and owned the house for quite a few years as their 'welcome info pack' was the most comprehensive and insiteful we came across while travelling in Europe for 2 months! We love our stay... Thank you!

Authentic Spain

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house, huge rooms and very private quiet garden. We loved Osuna and found it to be a charming, authentic Spanish town. Best part was eating out visited many tapas bars and restaurants all excellent quality and very cheap. Easy to get to Seville which is amazing and other parts of Andalucia

Peaceful and comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this house, it is very spacious, comfortable and well equiped with everything you need, especially in the kitchen. Plenty of character, a perfect house!

The location was really good for shops and bars, driving the the tiny lanes to find a parking spot was quite an adventure! The information provided was really detailed and very useful.

An Authentic Andalucian Experience

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, spacious and attractive house in the charming town of Osuna. The outside space was gorgeous, and all ten of us were able to eat our meals al fresco under the shade of an overhead trellis covered in grapevines. We particularly enjoyed lazing on the comfortable white sofas just outside the kitchen and socialising in the large kitchen/dining area. The bedrooms were great, with plenty of bedlinen and towels available.

Loved being able to use dishwasher and washing machine, as I was staying with a 6-month-old baby. A highchair would have been a helpful addition, but there was a helpful little basket of baby bits and pieces (bibs, plates, spoons, dummies etc) in case people forgot their own.

Osuna is friendly and pretty to stroll around. The location, between Seville, Cordoba and Malaga is great.

I loved the house's own guidebook, compiled by the owners, with lots of brilliant tips about daytrips and local shopping and sights.

I would definitely recommend the house to families seeking a taste of real Andalucia.

Spanish House

  • 5 of 5

Four generations of my family really enjoyed staying in this spacious spanish house which was exactly as described. Even so, it was bigger and more elegant than I had imagined. It was wonderfully quiet with swifts and swallows flying dramatically over the garden.

It was clean and had a generous supply of bedding, sheets and towels. The cupboards were full of dried goods which could be used and replaced.

The garden seating was very comfortable, lovely white sofas and a large table under a vine.

The kitchen was easy to use even with a couple of cooks and breakages were covered by a generous "just get something similar" policy. There was plenty of equipment, the owners are obviously foodies but I would recommend the purchase of a huge saucepan big enough to cook pasta for 9 or 10.

We found the local town charming and a real advantage for a large group to spend time exploring in smaller groups and shopping for food at short notice.

We visited Cordoba and Seville which are in easy reach and even visited the lakes where we hired a ridiculous green VW beetle, with a yellow slide attached, to pedal around the lake in. Don't forget to visit the Mirador restaurant bar further up the road which has an interesting menu including fabulous aubergine fritters drizzled with honey!!! Who said "vegetables are good for you?".

Jeremy Taffler is friendly and easy to deal with. Do read his house advice booklet on his website, which I find amusing, and gives you an idea of what kind of people you'd be dealing with.

The great thing about this house is that you don't really feel like a guest. You feel that you are actually a real spanish family living in your own house in Spain. No pool but that's all part of it.

I will definitely recommend this house for a holiday to my brother and 4 sisters.

Owner's Response: What a lovely review. Good idea big saucepan ( though there is a preserving pan which would cook pasta for an army!)

Facilities

From the Owner

It's very Spanish - great thick white walls. We like it because we can close the (impressive) doors and relax. Friends and visitors also like its location near to all the wonders of Andalucia. It's big enough to sleep ten but we are quite happy to rent it out to couples. And it's much better in winter now that we have the wood burnng stove and there's the new pool.
