Can Mayol is a traditionally built and beautifully furnished two bedroom (plus loft bedroom suite) Finca set amongst a pretty garden of citrus fruits, palms, olives and vines. Beautifully sited in the peaceful hillside of the village, yet only a 2/3 minute walk down to the plaza for a hive of activity when you want it with its church, bars, restaurants, shops and supermarket. It has amazing views across the Valley and Tramuntana Mountains, waking you only to the sound of the neighbouring wildlife. The Finca enjoys a large private and secluded saltwater swimming pool. The internal layout is spacious and bright, beautifully decorated with exposed beams throughout and rooms are well proportioned with excellent living space. This is a fantastic area for walking or just relaxing whilst enjoying the marvellous views and local hospitality. The two beaches at Port de Soller are a 6-10 minute drive. Both the Port and the Town of Soller offer more restaurants and bars, shopping and activities.

About Tris Williams

I live in central London with my husband Richard and two daughters, Meadow and Autumn. We share our house with a large number of pets, including our latest addition to the family - Daisy Doodle, a cream coloured Golden Doodle.

We work in the commercial property sector in the West End of London and whenever possible spend our spare time outdoors. We have travelled extensively for many years (pre children) and came across northern Mallorca in 2007 on a weekend walking trip. We discovered Fornalutx and fell in love with the beautiful village, scenery, people and location, and were fortunate enough to be able to buy our beautiful home there - "Can Mayol" which we lovingly restored in early 2007.

Why Tris Williams chose Deia - Soller Region

We searched extensively across the Tramuntana mountain range of northern Mallorca, but chose the village of Fornalutx above all others. It has been voted the prettiest village in the whole of Spain and has an amazing charm. The finca enjoys a beautiful setting in the hills for tranquility and privacy, yet is a 2 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of the village with its array of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and the most amazing main plaza where you can spend hours soaking up the mallorcan atmosphere. There are wonderful views across the valleys and the Beach and Port de Soller are only a 10 min drive away. It offers some of the best walks (anything from 1-7 hrs) we have ever experienced, right from the front door. It is also very accessible to Palma & the airport (40 mins).

What makes this house unique

The property is the style of a traditional finca full of charm and character with exposed beams, stone and original wells. It offers a very homely stay in a setting of outstanding beauty.

It offers privacy, peace and tranquility, yet still enjoying a central location 2 minutes down to the village and village plaza.

It is a very natural property with the garden boasting ancient olive terraces, a small vineyard & private swimming pool with the most amazing views across the valley as you swim. The pool has a fabulous setting in the sun but with shade offered by advocate trees on the sun bed terrace. The pool is totally private flanked by our gardens and neighbouring farmland offering the occasional visit from the friendly goats!

At Can Mayol, it gives the option of either total seclusion, as the Finca sits detached in a large private garden not overlooked, and/or enjoyment of the village life & all that is on offer.

The location is so convenient for trips to the Port of Soller, Soller Town and many other areas/places of interest. Palma is only a 40 minute drive if you feel like a day in the city.

A truly rustic and beautiful country home in the mountains, yet so close to the hive of activity of the village when you want it! The children have loved the pool and the neighbouring goats with the bells, and the huge gardens have really tired them out thank goodness. This is a true hidden gem where sipping wine on the terrace watching the sun set seems paradise.

Wow what a beautiful area this is, we have had a wonderful 2 weeks exploring Fornalutx and the surrounding areas and mountains. Lots of swimming, beach and walking but most of all enjoying your beautiful house where we have really felt at home - can't wait to return next year. The Brookers July 07

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us - it is so beautiful here waking to the birds, fresh orange juice and hot croissants from the bakers and sleeping to the wonderful sound of cicadas and frogs. Whilst not sleeping, we've had a fantastic time being lazy in the garden and pool!

  • Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 6 (3 Bedrooms) inc galleried loft bedroom suite. This 3rd loft bedroom is galleried high above bedroom no. 1. It is separated by a spiral staircase and railings but bedroom no. 1 can be overlooked from this suite. Persons 7 & 8 are accepted by arrangement and by use of a sofa bed in the lounge. This is only recommended for either 2 small children or 1 adult. Notes on bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with extra large double bed, full length windows and shutters and view to Valley and Village. Bedroom 2 with double bed & private citrus terrace (note twin beds pushed together - can be separated to singles). Adjacent bathroom and dressing area. Bedroom 3 (Galleried open loft) with double bed (above Bedroom 1 and accessed by spiral staircase from Bedroom 1) & a private decked large terrace overlooking the Olive Trees. Notes on accommodation: We truly want your visit to Fornalutx to be memorable and will endeavour to make your stay at Can Mayol as comfortable as possible. Please let us know if you have any special requirements. In the interest of other guests and their children, please note this is a strictly non smoking house. In view of the location of the Finca, age and hillside terrain with many different levels/areas to the garden and house, we suggest it is not appropriate for active toddlers particularly at the fast crawling/learning to walk stage. For our elderly guests, you will need to be fairly agile for the access up/down the steps from/to the car park and village. The finca is completely detached in its own grounds & not overlooked. All rooms are beautifully furnished and compliment the natural finishes and exposed beams. During the winter months logs for the wood burning fireplaces are provided and delivered in bulk for your arrival, charged to you at cost Outside: Terraced gardens with hammocks for lazy days, and an abundance of citrus fruit in season for freshly squeezed breakfast juice! Tiny but characteristic vineyard and mature olive trees upon dry-stone walled terraces. Many patios/dining terraces are clad with bougainvillea, wisteria and honeysuckle. A private terrace and secluded decked balcony lead off two of the bedrooms. The decked balcony has been carefully constructed around "Oscar"; - our 600 year old olive tree! There is a large dining terrace at the front of the Finca with the most amazing views, which the kitchen/dining room opens onto, and indeed is the favoured spot for dining and drinking. A large (approx 23ft x 15ft) secluded & private use salt water swimming pool offers fantastic views from the water over the mountains. The pool area has its own dining & sunlounging area in complete privacy with the pool enjoying full sun from dawn to dusk, with shaded lounger area under the advocado trees. Barbeque and ample seating. Utility Room: Adjacent to the kitchen with washing machine and tumble dryer and extra wc and sink. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and house towels inclusive and replenished weekly. Pool towels inclusive and replenished per stay. Cleaning is charged at 20 euros per head per stay and undertaken once, ready for arrival. Additional cleaning can be arranged separately. The galleried loft accessed via a spiral staircase & edged by intricate ballustrade boasts a very private balcony perfect for leisurely mornings plus it has its own en-suite bathroom.

The house is amazing. The views from the garden and house were incredible. Swimming pool was great but cold.

Large kitchen we used alot and bbq. Three good size bedrooms and we really enjoyed having a fire each night.

Great location walks and restaurants.

Soller and the port near by. Great base. Will definitely stay again.

Please note email or telephone enquiries should be made to check on availability and not the website calendar.
All rates are quoted in euros based on the rental of the house for 6 persons - please switch to euros in the currency box on the screen for rental information.
A 50% deposit is required on booking. This will be forfeited if the booking is cancelled within 8 wks of the rental date. Outside this period 50% will be refunded. The balance is payable 2 weeks before arrival or by arrangement on arrival. A refundable 150 euro deposit is required against breakages/damage. A 20 euro p/p cleaning charge applies per stay. The finca ideally sleeps 6 but can extend to 7/8 by arrangement/use of sofa bed. Supplements will apply for persons 7 & 8. Logs for spring/autumn/winter time are charged at cost.
