About the Owner

We are Sue and Sean Flynn and we have just purchased the beautiful Villa Sultaniye. We have been visiting Kalkan for about 12 years and are lucky enough to have several Kalkan properties already, all wonderful apartments so we are delighted to have a villa too. We currently live in the UK and visit Kalkan 4-5 times in and out of the season. Hopefully in the future we will be fortunate enough to be able to spend longer periods of time in this wonderful location.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your lovely review. We are genuinely delighted when guests love Kallan as much as we do and of-course when they enjoy a holiday at our property. We seem to love the apartment for the same reasons like its proximity to all that Kalkan has to offer. Thank you very much once again.

Another great stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd stay at Cennet apartment, great refurbishment of the bathroom! Samet and the team were again really helpful and kept the apartment and pool area really clean. We had some lovely trips, would recommend Xanthos ruins, Saklikent gorge and trout farm, where we had lunch.

Cennet apartment is in an ideal location and close to local restaurants Pera, Begonvil and Salonika were favourites and really busy. Thank you to Sue and Sean for all the help and arranging our transfers to and from the airport. Would highly recommend Cennet apartment! Will be returning again next year.

Steph, Andy and Declan.

Owner's Response: Thanks Steph, Andy and Declan. Thanks so much for the review. We love the apartment for the same reasons as you - the location is fab and you are never far from finding somewhere for a drink or a meal, especially good for those nights after a busy day where you may not want to venture any further than the doorstep! Thanks again, Sue and Sean x

The apartment was perfect for us and exactly as described. It was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. We followed Sue and Sean's advice and were delivered to the door by taxi late at night (an hour later than expected) and were met by Samet who gave us the key and explained the basic workings of the apartment, so all went smoothly. He continued to check that all was well a couple of times during our stay.

The pool was lovely and we enjoyed its proximity ( just outside our french doors ), although our ground floor position meant that we did not get a sea view. Our neighbours in the other two apartments were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay There.

Kalkan itself is a delightful place but the roads are steep and we found them a struggle during the heat of the day, but by the end of the week we had developed strategies to deal with the hills! We loved the harbour area especially. There is a supermarket quite close to the apartment and lots of restaurants - spoilt for choice really. We hired a scooter one day and on another we hired a car to explore the ancient city at Patara (stunning!) and the Saklikant Gorge, which unfortunately was closed while we were there because the heavens opened and the river rose very quickly. It was fun to visit though. We also visited Kas by dolmus.

We thoroughly recommend Cennet apartment and will definitely consider returning. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and the whole holiday was a positive experience.

Perfect Place, Perfect Location....

  • 5 of 5

Very spacious apartment, well equipped and lovely to have the pool next to the patio area with ample space and plenty of sun beds. Perfectly located for the old town with many restaurants, all serving good quality food.

The owners are really helpful and organised transport from the airport.

Samet and team cleaned the apartment and changed bedding and towels several times while we were there, and kept the pool in perfect condition.

We look forward to returning next year.

Steph and Andy.

Ideally location in Kalkan

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely apartment - very spacious for 2 people or a family of 4. It's really well equipped; really everything you need in the kitchen. We were lucky enough to be able to stay for a month, so we cooked and ate in quite a lot. The bedrooms are comfortable, with plenty of storage space, and the living area is also a good size. If we ever needed anything, the management team sorted it out for us quickly, and cleaning was done regularly and efficiently.

As it's a ground floor apartment, you've got the advantage of having your patio area right next to the pool. Great to be able to get up and splosh straight in! The downside of being on the ground floor is that you don't get the views that the duplex apartment upstairs has. But to be honest, virtually every cafe, restaurant or bar in Kalkan comes with a view, and there's a mountain right behind you, so you don't have to go far...

The other upside to this is that you're really, really close to the town. A couple of minutes' walk down a steep hill and you're there. A word about the hill. Coming up again, it is steep. But it's short. Literally everywhere you could stay in Kalkan will be uphill somehow. This is about as convenient as it gets - most apartments are a lot further from town. And anyway, after a few days you won't even notice it! But if you can't manage hills, taxis are plentiful and cheap.

It's a great base from which to explore - there's space to park a car outside and easy access to the main road without having to worry about any of Kalkan's less made-up roads. And it is a dramatic place to explore. Some great walking, lots of ancient ruins to explore (25 sites around that area of Turkey alone) and of course loads of opportunities for boat trips, including water taxis to the beach clubs - great for kids, we're told.

Closer to home, if you're eating out, there's plenty to suit every budget and taste in Kalkan. Too many good restaurants to list - I'll just say we didn't find a bad one.

The owners are lovely - really helpful if you have questions, and couldn't do enough to help.

A final word, we haven't had a chance to book our return visit yet, so please don't all rush at once...!

Another Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Cennet Apartment in Kalkan a couple of times before and again were not disappointed. The apartment is only a short walk to the old town where you are spoilt for choice of lovely places to eat and drink and generally watch the world go by. The apartment itself has everything you need inside as well as having the pool just outside your door to relax and enjoy your holiday.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Special interest holidays:

Kalkan is ideal for all types of water activities from water skiing to scuba diving. Kalkan Bay also has a Blue Flag Award for cleanliness. Walkers and hikers are well catered for with the ancient Lycian Way on the doorstep. This passes directly through the town making it ideal for anyone wanting to walk part of the extensive, picturesque route. Early morning horse riding lessons are available on Patara Beach and during the summer months Yoga classes are available on the sea front at the renowned Villa Mahal, only a short water taxi away. Kalkan also provides many opportunities for sketching, painting or photography as its flora and fauna never fails to inspire.

A local restaurant called Gurus has been recently featured in a national UK newspaper and is popular for its Turkish cookery classes which are a great way to meet new people in an informal setting and enjoy and introduction to delicious Turkish cuisine.

Kalkan's beach and harbour are a 2 minute stroll away with a beach club and diving platforms on the seaward side of the harbour's breakwater. The idyllic Kaputas beach is 10 mins away by car, taxi, dolmus. Free transport to beach clubs across the bay is available from the harbour. Patara Beach, which boasts 18km of golden sand, is only 25mins away by car, taxi or dolmus. The larger port of Kas is easily reached by a 30 minute dolmus ride along the spectacular Turquoise Coastline.

The brand new airport at Dalaman was completed in 2006 and provides a modern efficient gateway to Turkey's south western Mediterranean coast. Flight time from the UK is approximately 4hrs and the route is served by many charter and scheduled airlines. Transfer from Dalaman takes about 90 minutes and we will be happy to arrange this for you if you wish. Car hire is readily available but not essential as there is a regular dolmus service to places of interest. There is a also a car park.

Within easy reach of Kalkan are the ruins of the ancient Lycian capital of Xanthos, it's port Patara, religious centre Letoon, and Pinara. Today a mixture of ruins from Roman, Lycian and Byzantine times can be seen. Fethiye and Olu Deniz are approx 45mins away by car and Saklikent Gorge and the harbour town of Kas are less than 30 mins away.

Further Details:

Kalkan is a sophisticated holiday destination offering the best restaurants on the Turkish coast with menus to suit all tastes and pockets. These can be found along the waterfront or in Kalkan's quaint, narrow, winding streets. Many are roof terraces with stunning views over the bay. The shops offer a wide variety of merchandise, and the supermarkets stock a good range of provisions and offer free delivery for both you and your purchases. The weekly Thursday market provides a very entertaining brush with Turkish culture as well as the opportunity to barter for a bargain or purchase local produce. Kalkan has four banks with ATM machines and a Post Office.
