About Julie & Mick Bourner

We are Julie & Mick Bourner and bought our house in 2002. We have two grown-up children who are now off doing their own things! We live in the house next door, with Dora our cockapoo, and are only there should you need us for help or advice!

We are happy, when possible, to offer free baby-sitting and a local taxi service should you need it.

Julie & Mick Bourner purchased this farmhouse in 2002

Why Julie & Mick Bourner chose Noyal-sous-Bazouges

Our gite is situated at the end of a quiet lane surrounded by fields and countryside.

We have a large field as part of our garden giving plenty of room for children to run about, rounders, football etc.

Our 9m pool is at the back of the gite along with a private decked area.

Beautiful Gite and excellent hosts

  • 5 of 5

7 adults and 1 toddler lived here for a week. The gite has everything you need and is in a prime location for exploring. Mick and Julie ensured we never wanted for anything and were available at all times. I cannot say enough about this lovely property and the surrounding area. We all had a fantastic time. Thank you.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a rural setting but good location to visit many attractions including Le Mon St Michael, various beaches and the lovely town of Combourg. Thanks to Julie and Mike for lovely accommodation.

A fabulous spot for a holiday in France

  • 5 of 5

This was our first holiday in France for 15 years and our first in this region. Fortunately, we made an excellent choice of accommodation and had a fantastic week, helped enormously by having such an good place to stay. The gite is large and spacious and has wonderful outdoor space for the kids to run off any excess energy (or for the grown-ups to sit and enjoy a glass of wine as the evening draws in or make use of the built in BBQ!).

The owners, Julie and Mick, made us feel incredibly welcome from the outset and were a mine of useful information about the local area, amenities like shopping and places to visit on the more inclement days. The 4 cats and Dora the dog were also a hit, keeping the kids highly entertained.

All in all, a 5 star holiday and we wouldn't hesitate to return - highly recommended.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

After a very easy journey from the ferry, on lovely roads (we have never driven in France) we arrived at the gite and were immediately welcomed by Julie and Mick. The house is lovely, spacious and comfortable. A big log burner and logs collected from the garden. Bedrooms are all great with good combination depending on children/adults. Two good shower rooms and a well thought out kitchen. Chickens for a fresh supply of eggs and the most wonderful garden and space. It was genuinely a great week, a fantastic first impression of France and a wonderful base to visit so many places and things to do. Mick and Julie were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Couldn't of asked for a better experience - we will be back!!

The perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

It started with my son expressing a wish to go to France and ended with one of the best holidays I have ever had. The gite was in a tranquil, relaxing and rural location, yet offered all the facilities needed for a comfortable holiday. The property is rustic, clean and very well maintained. It was spacious enough to cope with an extended family of 5 adults and 2 children. Wifi generally worked well (great for the kids). There was a huge garden at the back for playing all sorts of sports, a trampoline for the fitter individuals and a decent size pool for having a quick swim. The owners do state the pool is unheated and while at first it may take a few goes to get in, once you do it is well worth it. The barbecue is a must. Julie and Mick are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. When booking the gite (which was quite last minute) they responded rapidly to emails and provided all the information needed. Once there, they offered lots of advice on places to visit (including where to park) and even got some initial provisions for us when we arrived. Dora the dog is cute and for animal lovers the four cats are very tame - they have an uncanny knack of turning up when food is being prepared. All this meant you felt you were home from home. The area is rural and a car is a necessity to travel around. With a car you are not far away from shops, boulangeries supermarket and restaurants in Combourg. The beaches are in easy reach by car and are stunning. We took a recommendation from Julie and Mick to visit a golden sandy beach with clear, blue water. Fantastic. We would also recommend visits to Dinan, St Malo and further afield Vannes. Beautiful towns mixing both old and new. I would fully recommend the gite and all the comfort, relaxation and pleasure it offers. One lasting memory is sitting at the rear of the gite on a clear evening viewing the stars and a meteor shower whilst drinking wine. You could not ask for more.

Great choice and perfect for the kids

  • 5 of 5

So happy with our choice, we stayed for 2 weeks and the property was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet rural location, shops and the pretty town of Combourg a 10 minute drive away. 40 minutes to an hour from the coast, loads of space indoors and outside. The kids loved it and we plan to return soon. Julie and Mick were perfect hosts giving some great recommendations. The property was well equipped with everything we needed. I can't recommend it highly enough!
