About the property

2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment close to excellent beaches & restaurants within walking distance

We have owned the property for over 25 years and have maintained it to a high standard. there are 2 bedrooms each with 2 single beds and 2 bathrooms with a good size living area and balconies to the front and back. The kitchen and bathrooms have recently been refurbished cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave are all fairly new. There is a 32" flat screen TV and BlueRay/DVD Player. The TV has Internet TV but no UK TV stations. It is situated at the back of the large communal pool (2 mins walk) and faces South, towards the sea (5-10 minutes walk), there are 2 beaches close by; the other one is 10-15 minutes walk maximum; both have beach bar/restaurants. There are many restaurants; at least 8 within easy walking distance (in high season), but within 10 minutes by car there are a large number, to suit all pockets, lots of Golf courses within 20 minute drive. Walking is popular and if you have no car there is a good bus service to get you about.

About Mike

our family have owned the property for over 25 years. It was new when we bought it, and since then we have visited at least twice a year. We have always rented as our experience is that frequent use means frequent cleaning and also helps to keep the place fresh. The Bathrooms are relatively new both have showers and the main bathroom has a heater and a heated towel rail. Kitchen is fully fitted and in the living area there is a flat screen TV and a DVD player. Both bedrooms have been refurbished. There are wall heaters and a wood burning stove.

Why Mike chose Albufeira

The area in and around Sao Rafael, has a lot to offer. There are many beaches, two of which are literally a few minutes walk away. Sao Rafael beach is regarded as one of the best in Europe. A car is preferable but should you not have one then there is a bus service which runs to Gale beach in one direction and to the Marina and Albufeira in the other. There is virtually no high rise building, and whilst building has taken place it is mostly villas and apartments built to a high standard.

Plenty of good restaurants at least six within walking distance. There is a supermarket just outside the complex, and with a car there are others within five minutes drive. Albufeira is close so access to medical assistance etc. is within easy reach, but Sao Rafael is a quiet resort.

What makes this apartment unique

At Sao Rafael we have one of the best beaches in the Algarve which is a mere 10 minutes walk away. We have tranquility; low rise apartments and villas set in lovely gardens. We also have an Office which is run very efficiently by Florbela and Telma. They are there six days a week in the high season and will help you with anything that you wish to know. We are very lucky to have them. Lots of our customers and relatives return to the apartment year after year for those who enjoy its relaxed atmosphere and picruresque setting with access to the fine beaches will appreciate Sao Rafael for years to come.

Notes on accommodation: We have a fold up bed (for 5th person) this is only really suitable for a child or small teenager or small adult ! This is stored in the wardrobe should you require it. Outside: The gardens are very well maintained, with many flowering shrubs. The pool area is common to those occupying the properties. There is a large shared pool and also one for young children. It is not heated. There is a balcony at the front and rear of the property with table chairs and a small portable BBQ for the use of our guests. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean linen and towels will be provided on arrival. The appartment will be cleaned prior to your stay and when you leave. If you require cleaning or fresh towels and or linen during your holiday we can arrange this at an extra cost. Other: WIFI UPDATE WE NOW HAVE FREE BROADBAND INTERNET ACCESS FOR THE USE OF OUR GUESTS

Lovely property, clean and tidy with everything you could need to make an enjoyable holiday

Staying in second half of September the Algarve is not so crowded. One or two places have already closed for the season or have gone on their annual holiday but there is still plenty to see and do and although the weather is pleasant it is not too hot. We enjoyed the pool and nearby beach and all the local restaurants as well as going inland to see more of the area.

A real home from home - superb

This was our seventh holiady to the Algarve in the past eight years and we can honestly say that this apartment was the most relaxing and comfortable of all. The complex is set in mature, well maintained gardens with an excellent swimming pool that was clean, well managed and never overcrowded. A five minute walk takes you to the lovely Sao Rafael beach with its very good restaurant.

One cannot fault the apartment, it has character that more modern properties lack and really does have everything one could wish for :- two balconies (front and rear}, plenty of space inside for 4 people (even 6 if using the sofa beds in the lounge), a most well equipped kitchen ( I thought at one stage I had caught Mike out with one item but then I found it tucked into the corner of a drawer - A garlic crusher !) and having 2 bathrooms is a definite plus. This was going to be our last Algarve trip but now that we have discovered this property we will be back!


Margem Sul Restaurant in Sao Rafael ( Portuguese, simple & straightforward, reasonably priced and friendly staff),

for that special occasion it must be O Marinheiro (Sao Rafael) - just that little bit different and always busy so you must book !,

Super BBQ + Music + Folk Dancing at Baia Grande Hotel (Sao Rafael) on a Thursday evening, excellent value @ 22.50 euros per person - but get there early for good table,

The Fado evenings at the Restaurant Atrium in Old Town Albufeira are very entertaining and the food is good.

Our favourite beach in East Gale (Salgodas) - lovely long stretch of sand/great for children - with lovely board walks across the nature reseve

Wonderful area , great apartment.

We had a brilliant holiday in Sao Rafael. The apartment is in a stunning area with a beautiful pool. It had eveything we could wish for , truely excellent value. I have already recommended it to a friend.

A spacious, comfortable apartment with easy access to stunning beaches.

We had a fabulous stay in this spacious reasonably well equipped aesthetically pleasing apartment. The access to beach and pool was easy and as described. Would definitely revisit.

The only negative was that there was no toilet roll on our arrival and we arrived late so this was a bit inconvenient.

Owner's Response: Very sorry to hear about the toilet roll issue I have spoken to the cleaning company and reminded them to make sure there is sufficient supplies for our guests arrival. It must have been an oversight on their behalf and they are normally very efficient I can only apologise and hope it didn't inconvenience you too much.

The apartment needs to be vacated by 10am on the day of your departure as it needs to be cleaned and linen replaced for new guests. If you have a late departure we may be able to help - please contact us.
