About the property

2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment close to excellent beaches & restaurants within walking distance

We have owned the property for over 25 years and have maintained it to a high standard. there are 2 bedrooms each with 2 single beds and 2 bathrooms with a good size living area and balconies to the front and back. The kitchen and bathrooms have recently been refurbished cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave are all fairly new. There is a 32" flat screen TV and BlueRay/DVD Player. The TV has Internet TV but no UK TV stations. It is situated at the back of the large communal pool (2 mins walk) and faces South, towards the sea (5-10 minutes walk), there are 2 beaches close by; the other one is 10-15 minutes walk maximum; both have beach bar/restaurants. There are many restaurants; at least 8 within easy walking distance (in high season), but within 10 minutes by car there are a large number, to suit all pockets, lots of Golf courses within 20 minute drive. Walking is popular and if you have no car there is a good bus service to get you about.

About Mike

our family have owned the property for over 25 years. It was new when we bought it, and since then we have visited at least twice a year. We have always rented as our experience is that frequent use means frequent cleaning and also helps to keep the place fresh. The Bathrooms are relatively new both have showers and the main bathroom has a heater and a heated towel rail. Kitchen is fully fitted and in the living area there is a flat screen TV and a DVD player. Both bedrooms have been refurbished. There are wall heaters and a wood burning stove.

Why Mike chose Sesmarias

The area in and around Sao Rafael, has a lot to offer. There are many beaches, two of which are literally a few minutes walk away. Sao Rafael beach is regarded as one of the best in Europe. A car is preferable but should you not have one then there is a bus service which runs to Gale beach in one direction and to the Marina and Albufeira in the other. There is virtually no high rise building, and whilst building has taken place it is mostly villas and apartments built to a high standard.

Plenty of good restaurants at least six within walking distance. There is a supermarket just outside the complex, and with a car there are others within five minutes drive. Albufeira is close so access to medical assistance etc. is within easy reach, but Sao Rafael is a quiet resort.

What makes this apartment unique

At Sao Rafael we have one of the best beaches in the Algarve which is a mere 10 minutes walk away. We have tranquility; low rise apartments and villas set in lovely gardens. We also have an Office which is run very efficiently by Florbela and Telma. They are there six days a week in the high season and will help you with anything that you wish to know. We are very lucky to have them. Lots of our customers and relatives return to the apartment year after year for those who enjoy its relaxed atmosphere and picruresque setting with access to the fine beaches will appreciate Sao Rafael for years to come.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: We have a fold up bed (for 5th person) this is only really suitable for a child or small teenager or small adult ! This is stored in the wardrobe should you require it. Outside: The gardens are very well maintained, with many flowering shrubs. The pool area is common to those occupying the properties. There is a large shared pool and also one for young children. It is not heated. There is a balcony at the front and rear of the property with table chairs and a small portable BBQ for the use of our guests. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean linen and towels will be provided on arrival. The appartment will be cleaned prior to your stay and when you leave. If you require cleaning or fresh towels and or linen during your holiday we can arrange this at an extra cost. Other: WIFI UPDATE WE NOW HAVE FREE BROADBAND INTERNET ACCESS FOR THE USE OF OUR GUESTS

Great apartment

Two of us stayed here for a relaxing week. Great apartment, with everything you could need. There were only two of us but it would be perfect for a family of four.

We spent most of our days on the beach, just a very short walk from the apartment, and made use of the cooler box and beach umbrellas that were available. And most evenings were on the balcony relaxing with a bottle of the local Vino Verde.

We had a few hours around the pool (very cold water but fine when you're in), the staff at the snack bar were so nice.

We ventured to the Marina (about 15/20 min walk) and went on a Caves and dolphin boat trip which was amazing!

We ate at a few of the closest restaurants and all were great, especially the Sao Rafael Beach Restaurant on our last night, it's pricey but totally worth it for the great seafood and the atmosphere overlooking the beach as the sun goes down.

We had a very relaxing time and would recommend the apartment without a doubt.

Happy times at a spacious well supplied appartment

Very well provided for appartment set in a friendly resort with pleasant outside areas and large pool with very friendly bar staff.

Short walk to beach and all local restaurants serving good food with a smile and no pressure ever to vacate the table.

Recommend buying and cooking seafood as quality and price at local supermarkets pretty good.

Fantastic Apartment - Home from Home but in a lot sunnier place

We stayed for a week in August 17. We had spent the week before in a Villa with friends so were a little concerned with my family of 5 stopping in an apartment following the luxury of the villa. However we were extremely pleased with our stay.

The condo was very spacious, tidy and modern with everything you could need to have a relaxing stay, even with a young family. It comfortably slept 5 without the need to use the sofa beds in the front room so my wife and I could get the kids to bed and stay up and relax without disturbing them. Kitchen has everything you need and with 2 bathrooms it's a winner. 3 areas to sit outside either on the front balcony or to the rear of the apartment. The owner has just installed air conditioning into the bedrooms which worked perfectly.

The complex was very nice, green and well kept. The pool was very big and the kids spent a lot of time in it. Even in August we had no problem getting loungers around the pool, probably because a lot of the Portuguese staying there go the local beach and nobody can reserve sun beds. The bulk of holiday makers at the pool were English and repeat visitors. drinks and snacks were available at a good price.

The local beach is great but is a little busy. You can walk to the old marina with ease and even into old town Albuferia, but we got cabs back which were cheap enough.

It is very quiet at night. The local supermarket is a bit of a walk and like most shops in the Algarve it is expensive, so would probably get a cab to Aldi and back to do a big shop if I went again.

Overall a great place to stop.

Huge family-friendly apartment, perfect location

We stayed for a week last week and had an amazing time! The apartment is very spacious and perfect for a family (4 of us) and is well equipped. Having a choice of scenic balconies for al-fresco dining was fab! Despite not having air conditioning, we stayed cool enough - partly due to keeping curtains closed during the day and partly due to the large fans provided.

The apartment complex is beautiful -it really is as described being set in mature gardens and really lovely. The pools were brilliant - kids loved them (2 mins walk from the front door) and despite it being a busy holiday time, the pools never seemed over-busy and there were sunbeds available. The office staff on site were really helpful too re taxis and local information.

The location of the complex is also fantastic in relation to 2 beaches - 7 minutes walk to Sao Rafael and 12 minutes to Praia de Arrifes. We recommend visiting both, and definitely recommend an evening visit to the restaurant on Praia de Arrifes - great fresh fish and brilliant views!

We will definitely plan to return to the area, ideally these apartments, as our stay was so enjoyable. As a family, we preferred to be staying a little out of Albufeira as this was a little commercialised for us and not as charming as the Sao Rafael area. There was certainly plenty to do and easy to get about using taxis.

Fantastic family holiday enjoyed by all.

Lovely apartment, clean and equipped with convenient items, excellent Wi-Fi, completed with picturesque views. Furthermore, location wise, the beach was only a short walk away from the apartment (which, by the way was one of the best I have experienced). The pool could be reached in a few minutes ; but the supermarkets and Old Town were reached by a ride in a taxi. On the other hand, it would've been nice if the pool-side restaurant/bar was open in the evening even if the actual pool was closed. Adding on to the location, the staff at the office were very helpful when telling us about what to see and arranging the taxi rides.
