Super house, super owner

  • 5 of 5

The house was absolutely superb, it was clean, spacious and ideal for our family. The beach across the lane was beautiful, all that we could hope for in a family holiday home. I have to completely disagree with a previous comment about the owner. She was easily contactable, very gracious and our booking ran like clockwork. We did fully appreciate that we were renting out someone else's home and therefore treated it and the owner with the respect that was fully deserved. I'd do back to the property in a heartbeat but unfortunately it's already booked!! Superb!!

Fantastic house, shame about the owner.

  • 1 of 5

We had a really great time staying at this fantastic house, but our stay was totally ruined by our communication with the owner. I'm sorry to say that this person should not be dealing with the public in any way.

Owner's Response: I have let our beautiful house in Donegal for 9 years and have never had any complaints. This lady rented the house in December (I even gave her an extra day free so she could decorate the house for Christmas) and she has only NOW left a poisoned review months after. She sent numerous text messages before arriving, while there and for weeks after she left (I even contacted Owners Direct for advice while she was there, because we have never dealt with anybody as intense as her before). She seemed to think that we should have provided entertainment with the house let, asking if we provided dvd's for her children and music CDs (I DO provide a large collection of books & board games as well as a CD and a DVD player for people who wish to bring there own...if you were wondering). While she and her family were there they broke curtain poles, used all the heating oil (what would usually last 12 weeks on a normal let, she used in 10 days) seemed unable to work out the very very simple bin system (recycling in one bin, other household waste in the other. Stick on bin labels and replace the labels you've used...simple) and lied to me on three separate occasions. She also left numerous items of clothing and asked I return them to her in England, and said she would refund me the postage cost. However as she had already cost me so much money and told me lies already I didn't trust her to send the postage costs to me so asked for the money up front. She didn't actually send the money for three month but carried on sending messages, requesting I send the clothes and became abusive in a phone call to my daughter. I seriously considered not letting the house again after this bad experience, but an old faithful customer convinced us not to let one bad apple spoil ours and future customers experiences of the house. All I can say is we have lived and learnt. I can only think she has left this bad review THREE months later due to the fact that I didn't send her clothes straight away without receiving the postage costs...by the way, while on the phone to my daughter she asked if she could rent the house again next year :-D

Perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

We have just had a brilliant holiday, spending 2 weeks in this superb house in Shrove. I actually feel relaxed and not like I need another holiday just to get over it! We couldn't have asked for for a better house, location or experience. Having 2 young children means a bit of thought needs to go into leaving the house and as it turns out we've found a place we'd love to return to and are definitely looking forward to our next trip already!

Shrove itself is small but Greencastle had everything we needed being either a lovely 20 min country road walk to the pub or a 2 min drive for the supermarket or just to have a picnic breakfast watching the boats come and go early in the morning. Moville is lovely, bigger and also only a 5 min drive away so is good for a change of scenery, which also happens to be beautiful. The drive from Moville to Derry is a real highlight and Derry itself is a lovely place, filled with all the things you'd expect from a city along with friendly, chatty people, real character and history.

The house is fantastic and homely and I wish I lived there!! For us, having the kids happy made the whole thing perfect. We had everything we needed for them, they had the run of the house and garden and even better was the amazing beach across the road. We spent hours there and they absolutely loved it. It was so helpful for getting ready for the day and having them over there happily playing before we'd even left the house!

We have had an absolutely brilliant time, exploring, discovering, relaxing, travelling around and enjoying this wonderful house and I can't recommend it highly enough. We've already been in touch with the very lovely owner to say she can consider us regulars from now on!

Come Back again

  • 5 of 5

Been coming to this house for 3 years now. The house is great for all our family needs. Three super beaches on the doorstep, great walks and lovely local traditional pubs. If we want a day out its a short drive to Derry or a very exciting car ferry trip across the foyle. I hope to be back AGAIN next year

Superb location

  • 5 of 5

Just had a wonderful stay at this fabulous house. The location could not be better and my elderly parents loved the beach opposite. We found so much to do in the area and found some wonderful restaurants serving fish straight off the fishing boat. Accommodation was spacious and very comfortable. A great find, thank you for a fabulous holiday, we will be back next year!!!
