About the Owner

We are Paul and Carole Clark and owners of Villa Arcobaleno, Sardinia. We Purchased the property in 2003 and during the following years we have been updating the property, to make it a very comfortable home from home holiday property for us and clients. We live in Hertfordshire and have been married for 44 years. We are very much a family couple and have a son (40) and daughter (37) and 3 grandaughters. We have had many family members staying at the villa from sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and elderly parents. It is a very special place to us and being able to share this wonderful home in Sardinia with family gives us great pleasure.

Paul, Chris, Anna, Lucy and Tom July 2010 Just wanted to let you know that we had a really lovely holiday at Villa Arcobaleno. We had a thoroughly restful time and enjoyed staying by the pool in the glorious sunshine, venturing off to the supermarket to get provisions and travelling on a couple of odd days to the beach and Alghero, which was the perfect place for a welcome ice-cream.

The villa was everything that we needed-very spacious, well equipped, extremely comfortable and perfectly private! Rhondda and Giovanni were very welcoming on our delayed arrival but were not at all intrusive during our stay and arrived to wave us off when we left.Thank you from us all.You have a beautiful holiday home, one we would recommend for the perfect holiday get-away which ticks all the holiday requirements.

We had a fabulous time.

Perfect family destination. The outside area was ideal for the children. The villa was comfortable and had everything we needed. The best part for us was the sense of escapism we felt to a beautiful and non-commercial island. Armed with our phrase book we loved exploring this region. Would go back in a heartbeat! Also Paul and Ronda couldn't do enough for us. Fabulous customer service like all holidays should be. Thank you for a marvellous holiday.

We didn't really want to share how wonderful this was but guess it's only fair!

Situated in a secluded and private location surrounded by trees and framed by an Italian garden we found Villa Arcobaleno to be spacious, clean and comfortable. Everything we could possibly need and more was catered for. We particularly loved the fresh basket of veggies left for us and these, together with Jamie Oliver's Italian Cookbook, a cupboard full of oils and herbs and a pizza oven enabled us to enjoy the full on Italian experience!

The pool was fantastic, large, clean and pleasantly warm. The hardest decision was whether to swim, play any of the board games there or have a game of pool.

Although quietly tucked away there are fantastic restaurants, secluded beaches and well stocked supermarkets just minutes away by car. We didn't venture far as it was idyllic where we were but there are some interesting old towns not too far afield.

Special thanks must go to Rhonda and her family for ensuring everything was perfect and that we were well looked after without being disturbed at all. The delicious and thoughtful goodies left for us by them were truly bellissimo.

Thanks to all - hope to return again soon.

Fantastic villa and management team

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a fantastic 2 week stay in this Villa. The listing description was accurate and we found it without any problems. It was spacious and private, surrounded by trees making for a really relaxing, tranquil break. There was a lovely vegetable garden where we collected our own lemons, peppers, basil, plums and tomatoes. We did make the assumption that there was air conditioning throughout the villa but it is only in the two master bedrooms upstairs. It was particularly hot during our stay (almost 40 degrees most days) so we found that difficult at times with young children.

The facilities at the villa were are excellent, the pool was fabulous for children as it is shallow enough for non swimmers to feel confident in and it large enough for ball games etc too. The pool table is a great addition and kept the kids entertained. There were loads of board games to play, everything you might need in the kitchen, even a hand blender which I was especially pleased about with a 6 month old baby to puree food for! The pizza oven was great, we used it 3 times, the kids loved making pizza dough, collecting wood for the fire and watching the pizza's cook.

The property was clean when we arrived although it was quite dusty under the sofas and beds which we noticed when fishing around for lost toys etc. The bedding was changed mid way through our holiday which was great but it would have been nice to also have the bathrooms/floors cleaned at that point too as things got quite mucky with 5 children in the villa.

The management team provided an outstanding service for us. There was wine in the fridge when we arrived, the bins were emptied regularly and we even got a large box of fresh vegetables left for us mid way through the holiday which was a very unexpected but a lovely gesture! Rhondda was so helpful with any questions we had, she recommended several restaurants and offered to book table for us if we needed her to, she told us about a local festival to go to which was great fun and recommended some lovely places for us to visit. We particularly enjoyed wandering the streets of Alghero in the early evening to soak up the atmosphere.

Overall I would highly recommend the villa and the area, we had a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very positive review. We endeavour to make your holiday as comfortable as possible and it looks very much like we achieved this!! With regard to the negative points in respect of cleaning we will discuss this with Rhondda and put actions in place to rectify with immediate effect. Thank you again Paul and Carole Clark

Excellent Villa - Beautiful Location

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommended - We enjoyed a 2 week stay in this beautiful, spacious, comfortable and well equipped villa. It was fully as described and the owners and the local manager, Rhondda, were very helpful, accommodating and professional. The villa is in a secluded and quiet location but not far from local amenities and beaches. We also spent a lot of time enjoying the large pool and surroundings - also well equipped with sun beds, seating, shaded areas, etc.

There are many beautiful places to visit within easy striking distance - we particularly liked the Porto Conte regional park, Stintino, Badesi and Costa Paradiso areas.

NB: to help us find our way around, we found the "Beach Finder Sardina" and "SAR Sardinia Offline Map" apps for iPad very useful.

Overall, we were delighted with this villa and having excellent weather too put the icing on the cake!

Well planned accommodation

  • 4 of 5

A very large villa with well planned accommodation with every home comfort. Well equipped kitchen and utility room with modern appliances. Especially impressed with the wifi, television and video equipment. Lots of games and books all well kept and in good order. On suite bathrooms nicely situated within large bedrooms. Lots of space for families or friends to enjoy. Lovely outside area and the pool is a great size for both games and serious swimming. Very comfortable out door seating in different areas enabling visitors to relax - lovely large dining table and chairs for al fresco dining. Situated in a nice quiet area 5 minutes from the nearest supermarkets in Sorso of which there are 3 very close together and have all that is needed for an authentic Italian food shop. The beach is very close and was really quiet when we stayed. The adjacent pine forest smells wonderful in the early evening and we enjoyed watching the wildlife around the villa - we were even lucky enough to spot the resident tortoise who was very shy.

Tranquil holiday hideaway.

This villa is a gem. Tucked away in a secluded corner of Sardinia, it provides ample space and peace for several families.

The photos and description don't do it justice as it exceeded our expectations.

Centrepiece - the 11 metre heated swimming pool and masses of terrace seating.

Bedrooms are spacious, and the whole house can easily sleep 12 or more and separates nicely for two different families.

Addition of air con in two bedrooms, and the smart tv with wifi were a welcome surprise. So too the pool table.

It is tucked away down a bumpy track. it is hard to find first time but suggest id it on Bing satellites maps slightly inland from Marina di Sorso beach - the swimming pool size is the give away. on map close to marker 3.

You are not disturbed by passing traffic or people and very few homes in vicinity.

Wasps were harmless non aggressive. Watch out for the resident tortoise who likes a drink. Bring mosquito repellant.

You could spend all week sitting by the pool.

Kitchen has all the equipment you need. Load the pizza oven with wood for authentic cooking, but there's mod cons too including coffee makers and ovens.

Comfortable lounge. 3 bathrooms - perhaps these were least posh bit of the villa but perfectly adequate.

The house manager Rhonda, as others have pointed out, is a real professional. Ever eager to resolve any issues. She and her husband and son run around bringing you fruit, cleaning the pool, instantly responding to any calls for assistance. Absolute peace of mind.

Location wise, it's not set in the prettiest part of the island. Decent beach 15 mins away at La Baddu. Stintino beach (go to the one north of the port) is well recommended, but we ended up at the other beaches.

Castelsardo is worth a 20 min drive for souvenirs and pretty setting.

Restaurant at Marina di Sorso (take left fork something like La Racocca) is posher than we expected and one of the nicest locally. Josemarie at roundabout just in land from Marina serves decent pizzas.

Biggest supermarket is Hypermarket Auchan in Sassari, but locally in Sorso we preferred Euro Spar, and also used Conad.

Friday Sorso market is great.

Best beaches and coast are 1'15hr drive east, north of Olbia.

Overall we think it was a premium property which deserved its premium price if the owners continue to update things like the washing machines

It is a lovely getaway. Secluded. It had the feel of a celebrity hideaway.

Dealings with English owners were prompt and courteous.

From the Owner

We bought Arcobaleno after looking at various properties in the north and north west of the Island. This was the last property to view and we thought that in January 2003 we would be returning home without seeing anything of interest to us. As soon as we saw Arcobaleno we liked it straight away, although the villa is very different today as back then, it just had a lovely homely feel to it and had the possibility to refurbish from a 2 bedroom to 4 bedroom property and the land to install a pool. Sardinia appealed to us because it was simple, not commercial and Sorso we liked as it was mainly local people who lived there born and bred. The locals are friendly and are only to pleased to do all they can for you. The area has a lovely 13km sandy beach and is great for families.

From the Owner

The villa has a relaxing, get away from it all feeling, surrounded by the pine forest and lovely views of the mountains. Its quiet and peaceful without being to remote. Your not at the villa long before you are relaxing, sitting by the pool reading or just catching up on the long awaited rest. As you wind down all the planned sight seeing starts to become a chore, but if you can drag yourself away there is plenty to see. Alghero, (50 km) Capo Caccia (Caves/60 km) Porto Torres (14 km) Castelsardo (20 km) and of course one of the most photographed beaches in Stintino called Pelosa beach (50km). All these are easily reached by car The food really does appeal to us, simple Sardinian/italian of Fish, seafood, pasta, pizzas (kids ask for the one with chips on). Most food and wine is local grown and tastes lovely.
