The villa has a contemporary open plan living space with a modern kitchen and high beamed ceilings which make the house a special place to relax. It combines the best of old and new in a truly unspoilt area of the algarve. It is an ideal place to stay for the Algarve's spectacular beaches, local country walks, golf, horse riding or simply evenings spent in front of the open fire. It was built as a family home and is equally suited for those with young children or as a romantic getaway. Silves is 10 minutes away with supermarkets, shops, numerous restaurants, bars, fresh produce market and of course the famous castle to visit.

Additional Charge for Aircon (£91pw / £13pd) There is a maid service included and our local English speaking house manager in Silves is always available to help out if needed. Do check out the Guest Comments below.

About the Owner

Trisha's family moved to the Algarve from Africa in the early 60s and she grew up going to Portuguese school in and around Portimao. Terraquina the perfect place for us to come and visit family and friends with our children. In 2005 we had a wonderful year living here full time with the kids whilst renovating the house, but now live in London and try to get back as often as we can. For us it is a 'home from home' and we hope that everyone who stays here feels the same.

A beautiful villa

  • 5 of 5

This is a home away from home, so peaceful and relaxing with plenty to do for the children. Having never been to the Algarve I didn't know what to expect but was blown away with the stunning beaches, friendly locals and delicious food.

The villa is well equipped, very spacious and immaculately clean. We loved being in the countryside and yet so close to Silves and the beaches.

An absolutely gorgeous place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our family to stay whilst visiting and wanting to explore the Algarve for two weeks. The property was well described on the web site and indeed all our hopeful expectations were more than delivered by this beautiful and well furnished villa. Outside space is great with different seating areas allowing grown ups a bit of separate space from 3 teenage children, the same was true for the inside. The villa was spotless on arrival with the welcome addition of a couple of bottles of decent local wine. The friendly and informative villa manager quickly made herself known and was easily contactable should there have been any issues (which there weren't). The maid service was regular as was the pool service man. The communications from the owner were excellent and easy. I would wholeheartedly recommend this villa to friends and family. It would suit younger and older families very well. Very enjoyable was the food and wine, whether cooked on the villa's bbq or taken in local restaurants. At the villa lazy evening meals were had on the top terrace whilst enjoying the stunning scenery and sun sets. The local supermarkets and shops providing excellent produce. The villa is well situated to explore beaches, mountains, towns, villages etc in this area of the Algarve which really seems totally unspoilt by tourism. A very definite 5 star rating.

A peaceful secluded gem - heaven

  • 4 of 5

We adored the stylish nature of the proporty, both the layout, quality and taste of the inside fittings and design. The double decked patio area is a heavenly place to sit at all times of day with its sense of peace as you gaze out over the quiet valley, almost like being abord ship, you can get to it from the upstairs master bedroom and from the kitchen downstairs. We found the house very quiet and secluded, the pool man and maid very friendly and helpful. The lighting was very good - execellent reading lights in the lounge and bedrooms and a supply of books - all important factors for us. Silves is only 15 mins away with a Lidl and a Continente supermarket and we loved to wonder around there in the evenings and choose at whim froma great selection of small restaurants there where you could eat outside in the cobbled streets or under umbrellas in cafe-like areas which we loved. Always the best part of the day was coming 'home' to the lovely villa. I would recommend you purchase the air conditioning package even in October. The mozzies have been particually bad in the Algarve this year and maybe next. We didn't - we left our bedroom windows open becuase it was in 80s C (in October) and got badly bitten. The pool is small but lovely and gets nice and warm, for us it was worth it for the trade-off of such a special place, all to ourselves with no overlooking or sense of being in the hurly burly. All that said we were no more than 30 mins from some great beaches and the waterpark - slide and splash which stays open till the end of October. Recommend a a day out to the W coast. We were there with one teenager - but the place was well kitted out to be child-friendly with security gates for the pool and equipment and toys available. A special place with a sense of peace and beauty.

The villa was every bit as good as we hoped it would be. Very comfortable, homely and clean. The whole holiday was great just not long enough.

From the Owner

We chose to buy the house here as it is such a beautiful unspoilt area which feels unchanged from when Trisha was growing up in Portugal during the 70s. We had always visited Silves and friends recommended trying the great restaurants in the area so we soon narrowed our search to 10 mins drive from Silves.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : FARO at 70 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Rainha at 2 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Silves Pestana at 14 Kilometres Nearest Train : Silves at 9.5 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Rainha at 2 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Praia Marinha at 23 Kilometres Car: necessary

There is a great riding centre 10 minutes drive away. They do country trekking for experiences riders as well as kids sessions and one to one for all levels.

Located 10 minutes from the historic town of Silves means that the house 25 minutes drive from the lush mountain landscape of Monchique as well as some of the most spectacular beaches in Europe such as Praia da Marinha, Benagil, Prianha and Albandeira.

  • We lovingly restored the house with wooden floors in all bedrooms and wax polished terracotta tiles throughout downstairs. The painted windows, shutters and chestnut beamed ceilings together with the thick white walls gives the house a special ambience. Please do ask if there is any additional information you need.
