Secluded Villa near Mijas and ,Fuengirola Andalucia, Costa del Sol - Peaceful Secluded Locationn. close to beaches and all amenities,, Golf courses closeby

Villa Martine was built by Hugh and Pam Neil from Highbullen Hotel in North Devon in 1982. The house has great panoramic views with a well-established large mainly grassed and terraced garden,It is at the bottom of a very quiet and private cul de sac and has an an open outlook onto the stunning countryside, with views both to Mijas and the sea. It has its' own private pool, which is extremely private and cannot be overlooked. There are plenty of grass areas for children to play and the terraced area by the pool has 6 sun beds and parasol.

The villa is on 2 levels, the upper having the lounge and kitchen and large sun terrace with dining table and BBQ.

The lower level has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, all ensuite, All bedrooms have sliding patio windows which lead on to the terrace and swimming pool area. Part of the villa has recently been renovated, with two new bathrooms installed.

There are many golf courses and long stretching sandy beaches nearby. The beaches are very safe for children, many of the larger beaches now having life guards. There are also smaller beaches and coves, all have a great variety of beach restaurants.

The Villa is situated just above the coastal town of Fuengirola and below the Spanish mountain village of Mijas.Both only take less than 10 minutes to get to. The historic village of Mijas still retains the character of a typical white (pueblo) village, with its's blue flower pots hanging from the old houses which are dotted along the winding cobbled streets filled with many artisan shops. Donkeys still play a part in the village life with their little carts taking people round the village.

Fuengirola, especially the old town, with its' abundance of tapas bars is well worth a visit.

Mijas Golf has two ooexcellent courses (10 minutes drive). Other courses can be reached by a 15 or 30 minute drive. Day trips include travelling to Granada (Alhambra Palace) Malaga City, Marbella and Puerto Banus, Rhonda or Tivoli World in Benalmadena (great for the kids!). Alternatively you can just relax by the pool! on a sunbed.

The Tv has BBC and ITV channels plus some Sky channels and free view channels in many other languages.

Well equipped kitchen with ceramic hob and oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, etc, etc.

Great holiday in beautiful Spain

Disappointed

We arrived for 1 weeks holiday at the villa on 9th August. When we arrived the villa was not ready which we knew wouldn't be so we went to stay at a friends villa for the afternoon whilst it was cleaned (the previous holiday makers had made a real mess of the villa so there was extra cleaning to do before we could use it). Carol apologised about the state of the villa. The villa is spacious, 3 en-suite bedrooms which is great for families. The entire decor is very tired and really could do with freshening up. The furniture again is well worn, the settees are dirty, are covered with throws and cushions, but they felt dirty when you sat on them. We couldn't wait to use the pool but the previous holiday makers had done something with the pump on the pool which had stopped cleaning it so we couldn't use the pool for a couple of days which was very disappointing but the gardener did call most days to keep checking it and we were told it was clean and we could use it, at no time during the week was the water clear, we couldn't see the bottom of the pool. The overall cleanliness of the villa was very disappointing. We were told the cleaners had stayed an extra few hours to get on top of the cleaning but I would suggest they question the standard of the cleaning. There was filthy cutlery and crockery which we had to put in the dishwasher before we used it. We got a supposedly clean tea towel out and it had a huge burn mark on it with a hole in it, I threw that away. There were cigarette ends in a corner by the steps from one of the bedrooms that lead to the pool. Some of chairs on the verandah were full of black marks, clearly not been wiped down recently. The bbq was full of ashes and cig ends so that had been left for us to clean. The standard of the cleaning staff was poor. The photos look better on the website than it is in real life. I would not go back to the villa and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I would suggest the owners do a refurbishment of the whole place.

Owner's Response: Firstly, I am very surprised and dissapointed by your comments, because you did not complain about anything during your stay. Before you arrived, you had previously arranged that since your flight was getting into Malaga earlier than the agreed check in time, you would visit your friend”s villa in a nearby location and have lunch with them The villa is a very nice spacious villa set in lovely maintained and mature gardens with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, with the most wonderful views and is decorated in a rustic country style that lends itself to the character of the villa. Maybe you have mistaken rustic for dirty? The villa was certainly not dirty when you checked in. It had also been freshly painted at the beginning of the summer. During your stay, at no time did you complain about the villa apart from finding a dirty dish cloth, which was probably a cleaning cloth that the cleaners left by mistake, I did apologise to you for this. What I do find confusing, is that on your day of departure, you sent me a very nice email saying, "You had a lovely time, and visited many places” and even offered to strip the beds and put everything in the washing machine. Would you have offered this if you were unhappy? Our guests love Villa Martine and it certainly represents very good value for money, I am disappointed that the villa was not to your taste but delighted you had a great holiday. Villa Martine

Villa Martine is a very pretty, comfortable, well appointed place to stay. Bordered by undeveloped campo it has views to the sea and mountains. The beautiful pool and well kept garden are not overlooked. It's only about half an hour along the motorway from Malaga airport and is within easy reach of both the lovely old hill town of Mijas and Fuengirola town and beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon.

FANTASTIC VILLA , WISH I WAS BACK THERE NOW

GREAT VILLA , WE HAD A MONTH HERE IN NOVEMBER AND HAD A GREAT TIME, LOTS OF ROOM FOR THE 5 OF US THE POOL IS GREAT, NOBODY OVERLOOKING AND VERY QUIET, SPOTLESS,EVERYTHING YOU NEED INCLUDING A BBQ.

(WE HAD A FEW)

3 BATHROOMS WAS GREAT, WITH IT BEING A UPSIDE DOWN VILLA IT HAS GREAT VIEWS OVER TO MIJAS AND DISTANT VIEWS OF THE SEA.

CAROL AND CAROLINE ARE ON CALL OR TEXT IF YOU NEED ANYTHING.

(THE DIRECTIONS CAROL SENDS YOU ARE THE BEST BETTER THAN A SAT-NAV)

GREAT WITH THE INTERNET (STILL HAVING TO DO A BIT OF WORK).

MIJAS PUEBLO IS LOVELY AND WELL WORTH A VISIT AND THE BULL RING,

PUERTO BANUS IS A MUST (TO SEE HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVE)

THE MARINA WITH SOME GREAT BARS,AND SHOPPING.

THERE ARE SOME GREAT MARKETS "LA CALA" IS A GOOD ONE

I HAVE TOLD LOTS OF PEOPLE ABOUT THIS VILLA FOR A GREAT HOLIDAY.

Oasis of Calm

We have just spent a very enjoyable and relaxing month at Villa Martine. Ideally placed for a quiet holiday away from the crowds, it's within easy driving distance of beaches, shops, restaurants and other amenities, as well as the lovely Mijas Pueblo. A very comfortable and easy-going villa, with a "lived in" feel, rather than the typical sparsely furnished or "minimalist" holiday let, the facilities are homely and provide everything for day to day needs. The three en-suite bedrooms gave us the opportunity to invite a number of different guests to stay during the month, but a large family group or a group of friends would find it equally suitable. The garden is very private, and the recently-refurbished pool is excellent. It is cleaned and tended regularly by Juan, who calls weekly to maintain the garden as well. Caroline the cleaning lady is super-efficient and helpful on her weekly visits. The "upside-down" configuration of the villa works really well, as the living space is at street level and the lounge opens onto a delightful large terrace, where we sat for most meals. The orientation of the house provides sea and mountain views and a sunny aspect all day, until the sun obligingly dips behind the house in early evening, just as you are ready to "cool off" with an aperitif! The generously sized bedrooms, on the lower floor, stay relatively cool during the day, and each has direct access to the pool via patio doors and a lower terrace. Piping hot water is constantly on tap, the television gets most of the free to air UK channels, and wi-fi is available on a fairly cheap "pay as you go" basis.

Highlights? Long warm evenings lingering over meals on the terrace with good friends. Lazy hot afternoons by the pool. Breakfast in the sun. Fantastic fresh local produce and fish.

Surprises? A large herd of goats being driven past on the land beside the villa by the local goatherd with their dozens of bells ringing gently - this must have been going on for a thousand years!

Downside? We didn't discover one!

It would be remiss to finish without mentioning property manager Carol, who is incredibly helpful and always available by phone or email to assist if anything goes wrong. From her welcoming "meet and greet" service to her rapid replacement of a broken kettle, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks Carol!

Suitable for pretty well everyone, except perhaps groups of young people, as it is probably too far from the nightlife!

Plenty of Beaches nearby, the nearest being 5 minute drive away. Many of these beaches have been awarded Blue Flag. All the beaches in this area are safe for children, most of which have coastguards. Plenty of beaches with local beach bars and sun beds and parasols for hire if required. we can give you guidance on where to go. If you prefer quiet small beach coves, there are several.

Naturalist Beaches, there are now several official ones less than 10 mins drive.

Travel:

Flights to Malaga airport are easily booked through the many UK airports with numerous cheap airlines.

Malaga Airport is only 20 mins drive to Villa

Gibraltar Airport is 1.20 mins drive to villa (on motorway)

Distances:

Mijas village is a stunning mountain village, with narrow pebbled streets. Plenty of artisan shops, cafes, restaurants (child friendly) with the most fabulous views to the coast. Take a horse drawn carriage round the village. Famous for its' donkeys.

Ronda, Cordoba, Granada, Jerez and Seville are all worth a day trip by car.

Further Details:

The nearest restaurants, cafes, chemist, small local supermarket are only less than a mile away.

For children there are plenty of places to visit. Local Zoo in Fuengirola, Water Park on Mijas Costa, Sea Life in Benalmadena, Go Karting on Mijas Costa, Adventure Park, Horse riding, Skate Boarding at Myramar, etc, etc.

Myramar indoor shopping centre has many restaurants, cafes and a multi centre cinema with at least 3 English speaking cinemas.
