Exceptional Comfortable converted Farmhouse with Private Pool nestling in wooded valley with views to the River.

Set in a delightful rural valley in wooded countryside, La Grange is a delightful, comfortable 18th Century Farm House (originally the Coash House to the neighbouring Chateau) which has been lovingly restored to an exceptionally high standard giving space and complete seclusion with the Wow factor as soon as you drive through the gated drive. Although retaining many of the original features, including exposed beams and stonework with large fireplaces and wood burning stoves, every modern convenience has been thought of. The huge Baronial style entrance hall with its atrium and antique furniture sites the splendid oak dining table. The private fenced and heated swimming pool is close to the house whilst the meadow at the back of the house is perfect for a kick around with a football. Although this is the sleepy part of the Haut Vienne, and perfect for a get away from it all holiday, the pretty market town of Magnac Laval is only 10 minutes away and for those wanting to explore a little further, Limoges with its old city, covered market and museums is only 40 minutes away. We have 9 new bikes (with helmets) which are free to use, table tennis in the barn and even a couple of exercise bikes for the guests to use.

Le Grange is perfect for an "all ages" holiday with plenty of room for everybody to find their own space.

La Grange is an ode to ancient timber, stones and ceramic tiles. Its glorious restoration was done some years ago and the feel is warm, open and natural. Like a Tardis, the modest, rustic exterior belies the vast, comfortable and inviting spaces inside, and it’s perfect for families; there’s a pool, barbecue, games active and thoughtful – indoors and out – and stair gates. The huge sitting room has an equally huge fireplace topped by a gargantuan beam, myriad armchairs and a hunting-lodge atmosphere. The double-height dining room is in lovely old stone and through a rough-hewn ancient door lies real treasure: the beautiful sunny kitchen with all you could need and glorious views. Upstairs, bedrooms are done with style and originality; the big master suite is an absolute wow of creative décor and a bath with a view. There are some fine pieces of furniture, too, in white rooms with knotty pine floors. You will be greeted by the gracious Sarah who knows the place inside out, and all there is to do in the fascinating Limousin: historic towns, medieval villages, watersports, a country zoo, an astro-farm…

Notes on accommodation: Le Grange is perfect for extended families and great for children. The bedrooms are all very comfortable. We do accept one well behaved dog by prior arrangement and an additional dog at a charge of £25 each – again by arrangement only. Outside: The private pool is 9m x 5m, with loungers and garden furniture (the pool can be heated at a cost of £120 per week). There is a covered veranda with oak table and benches which is perfect for al-fresco dining, together with a stone built BBQ. There is a lawned area to the back of the house and then a meadow overlooking two lakes. There is ample parking and we have 8 all-terrain bicycles, plus a child’s bike – suitable for a 4-6 year old. There is Table Tennis in the adjacent barn. It is fun to spot many species of birds here including buzzards, herons and owls and you do feel that you have the whole of this glorious region to yourselves. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Beds are made up for arrival and house and pool towels are provided. We have an English housekeeper who lives close by. Other: The imposing medieval style entrance hall has been converted into a spectacular dining area with log burning stove and seating for 12. An original cartwheel light fitting adds to the ambience. This is the hub of this splendid house.

Sandy beaches and very large lake at Lac St. Pardoux - 15 minutes drive with large beach areas. Surrounded by woodlands, ideal for mountain biking, horse riding, jogging, and walking. 330 hectares of lake where you can take part in a number of water sports - (water-skiing, wind-surfing, canoeing, pedalos, fishing, swimming). There are tennis courts and a children's play area with water chute, or simply laying on the beach soaking up the sun.


Limoges and its airport is about 30 mins drive away. Ryanair flys daily from London Stansted, Luton, Liverpool, East Midlands, Leeds/Bradford, Bristol, Bournemouth and Edinburgh and Flybe from Newcastle, Edingburgh, Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, Guernsey, Jersey and Southampton. Calais is about 5-6 hours by car. The TGV fast train to Paris is 15 mins drive away. Car hire is available at the airport and through your airline. Use of a car is essential.


Magnac Laval provides supermarkets, banks, shops, bars and restaurants and is 10 mins away. Lac St Pardoux 25 mins away. Limoges 35 mins by car.The local towns of Magnac Laval and Le Dorat just 10 mins by car Larger hypermarkets, shops, restaurants, train station are 15 mins drive away in Bellac and La Souteraine.

Le Grange is set in a rural valley overlooking 2 lakes. The local market town of Magnac Laval is set in the pretty Haute-Vienne countryside. There is a character filled old quarter, with ancient houses, winding streets and a delightful riverside, lined with attractive old buildings. The town has all the charm of rural France, whilst providing all the facilities you could ever need including supermarket, bars, restaurants etc. The town hosts a weekly traditional market on Thursday mornings if you like to do your shopping in true French style. The Haute-Vienne is a wonderful area for those who appreciate the beauty of nature and the activities which are on offer in the countryside – fishing in the river, walking in the woods or cycling on the woodland paths. The town of Limoges, famed for its beautiful porcelain, definitely deserves a visit and there are a multitude of interesting and historic towns and villages to explore in the region, including Bellac, Le Dorat and Mortemart, which are all packed with character and charm.
