The property comprises a 250 year old Languedoc farmhouse and a separate gite, both renovated to a very high standard and situated in a delightful small hamlet hidden among the vineyards and olive groves with wonderful views. Each house is private, completely self contained and built around a superb private 8 x 4m pool, with Roman steps, extensive terracing, summer kitchen, BBQ, wood fired pizza oven, and decked sun terrace. A small olive grove provides further room for children to play in. Normally the owners stay in the farmhouse for the majority of the summer giving the gite occupants exclusive use of the pool and grounds. However both properties are available for rental together. The local village, 10 minutes walk from the hamlet, provides shops, tourist information and restaurants. Golf course within 15 minutes. Wonderful walking, climbing, canoeing and river swimming in the immediate vicinity. Mediterranean beaches an easy drive away. Great choice of cycling routes, ranging from the nearby converted railway line to the most extreme mountain tracks, four adult bikes are provided. Excellent choice of restaurants locally. You are spoilt for choice for wine tasting at the many local vineyards. Ideal holiday location for all ages.

The Farmhouse comprises upstairs 2 bedrooms, both with double beds and a large landing which could take a single bed or cot (on request). Modern bathroom with bath and shower attachment, large basin and WC and heated towel rail. Each bedroom has an electric fan for the summer and there is heating throughout the property when necessary (winter only). Downstairs, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven and hob, fridge/freezer and microwave; dining room and living room with beamed ceiling and flagstone floor, wood-burning stove, Freesat TV and Wifi available; separate shower room with WC, shower, hand-basin, washing machine and heated towel rail.

The Farmhouse - Return Visit!

Our second time staying in this wonderful 250 yr old farmhouse - absolute peace to chill out to, away from our busy lives back in London. Amazing uninterrupted views across the magnificent backdrop of this beautiful region. Everything you need is catered for - bikes for the many local trails, a 10 min walk into the village for all amenities - particularly the auberge for meals out in the evening. The owners Dave and Linda are always extremely helpful - providing local advice about restaurants, markets, travel and places of interest. There are many beautiful villages within 30 mins drive - visits to picturesque St Chinian, Roquebrun and Olargues were of particular interest. The best times however were simply spent chilling by the pool, drinking the local wine and enjoying the company of good friends - staying in the Gite next door.

Perfect peaceful family holiday

We had a fabulous 3 generations family holiday at The Farmhouse and Gite. There was plenty of space for the 9 people in our party (5 in the Farmhouse 4 in the Gite). The pool was ideal and the outdoor kitchen was really great. The house was decorated beautifully and had all of the cooking equipment necessary. Dave and Linda were very helpful with recommendations for things to do locally, good markets, excellent river beach location etc. Also they responded really promptly when a light fuse blew unexpectedly. It is worth pointing out that the pictures don't do the properties justice - the living area was more spacious than we had imagined. I would certainly recommend this property wholeheartedly.

Fantastic Farmhouse

What a beautiful place, everything was perfect! Stunning views, lovely peaceful hamlet, beautiful clean accommodation, very well equipped with everything you could require, we really could not find fault with this property. The area is stunning and the Orb Valley offers a wonderful place to relax, canoe or swim in the river. There is a wonderful cycle trail just 10 mins from the house which leads to the beautiful town of Orlagues and the local restaurant offers some delightful food. The owners do everything they can to make your stay comfortable and are very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful relaxing time, we did not drive more than 15 mins away all week and would definitely visit again.

Family holiday

Lovely week in the farmhouse as part of an extended family get together. The house was very comfortable, well equipped and inviting - a home from home. The pool and facilitites were excellent - outside dinning on the terrace and BBQs. The pool was a good size for the children and also for floating adults. A great area with plenty of places to explore, eat / drink and shop within walking distance as well as a huge variety just a short drive away. Fishing was good too! The trout for tea were delicious!

We have been visiting Languedoc regularly since 1995 due to a school exchange that Linda set up and ran with a French teacher in Beziers. It also became a favourite family holiday destination. During those 15 years we soon came to discover that this was a fantastic part of France, beautiful, quiet sandy beaches, magnificent mountains, clean rivers, great climate, friendly people and of course excellent food and wine!

Nearest Airport : Beziers at 60 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Mons la Trivalle at 1 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Lamalou les Bains at 14 Kilometres Nearest Train : Bedarieux, (or Beziers) at 20 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A9 or A75 at 50 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Mons la trivalle at 1 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Pyrenees at 250 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Serignan or Valras Plage at 58 Kilometres Car: recommended


Nearest Mediterranean beach is approximately 60 minutes by car. Long, well maintained, sandy beaches with several choices of either supervised beaches with all the facilities or unsupervised much quieter beaches. There is also very good swimming at several locations on the nearby River Orb.


Nearest airport is Beziers - about 45 minutes drive. Other airports include Montpellier, Carcassone and Perpignan, all about 1.5 hours. Toulouse and Nimes are approx 2 hours drive. Driving from the French Channel ferry terminals takes approximately 10 hours.


Nearest village of Mons la Trivalle is an easy 10 minutes walk with a further 5 mins walk to the famous Gorge d'Heric and wonderful walks. The medieval village of Olargue is 5 kms away, well worth a visit, the Lakes are 45 minutes drive into the mountains, Bedarieux, nearest town with supermarkets, etc, 20 mins drive; Lamalou les Bains 8 kms - with Casino, shops, tennis, golf course, riding and thermal baths. Beziers - a lively town with lots going on in the summer is 40 kms.

A complementary welcome pack is provided which includes sufficient for a continental breakfast and a chilled bottle of local wine for your first "apero".

There are numerous restaurants in the area, some very good and everyday shopping is within walking distance. The village of Mons la Trivalle is a delightful ten minute stroll to get the croissants for breakfast and it also has a good auberge - for that invigorating cup of coffee and an excellent menu - an excellent small general store for all those immediate needs, a first class boulangerie/patisserie, as well as a tourist information office and post office.

There is a fully comprehensive "House Book" in both properties which provide our guests with lots of information about the area.

There are 4 bikes available for the guests so they can enjoy cycling along the nearby "piste verte" which runs from Mons to Bedarieux or Mons to Mazamet!!!

The overwhelming reason for us buying the property was location, location, location! The house has amazing open views across the vineyards to the valley and hills beyond. It is situated within the Regional Parc of the Haut Languedoc in a beautiful small hamlet but is only 10 minutes walk from the nearest village with tourist information office, shop, auberge, tabac, post office etc. It is only 5 minutes drive away from "one of the most beautiful villages in France" Olargues. You will be able to enjoy swimming in the private pool, canoeing and swimming in the local rivers, walking in the hillsides or the Gorge d'Heric, cycling (the old railway line along the valley is ideal for "softies") and wining and dining to your hearts content.

  • Notes on accommodation: Rental price is fully inclusive, no extra charges for linen cleaning or fuel. Linen and towels (hand, bath, beach and teatowels) are provided weekly. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board are all provided. Cot, highchair and stair gate are available on request. The pool area is securely fenced with lockable gates to comply with French regulations. Outside: The properties are built around a superb private pool area with an 8m x 4m swimming pool, with roman steps, extensive terracing with tables and chairs, summer kitchen with pizza oven, BBQ, sink and work surfaces, and a sun terrace with loungers and garden chairs. There is a toilet and wash basin adjacent to the pool. The pool area is shared between both properties, with wonderful views over the vineyards and olive groves. Each property has its own private terrace. There is also a "baby foot" (table football) available and four adult bikes for your use.
