About the Owner

Hi, I'm Paul Way and together with Chris Thompson & Ian Westen own this fantastic villa near Burgau. We always thought we'd like a place in the sun, and this is certainly that.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'The villa was spotless the welcome pack very welcoming! Extremely well catered for families. The nearest village and beach Burgau was just perfect very quiet and clean. The beach bar/restaurant was excellent, worth booking a table to get the right spot. The Atlantic coast is worth a visit and my 3 year old loved 'Slide and Splash'...it was an interesting day out for me!! Great holiday I can't wait until the Spa is up and running and we will be back.'

Absolutely delightful

  • 5 of 5

The accomodation offered everything we could have wished for. Cleaniness, privacy, space and location. The pictures and description listed were extremely accurate.

The surrounding beaches are a delight and the weather just fantastic. Relaxing around the pool or visiting the beaches was both lovely.

Thank you for a great holiday and the best visit to Portugal that we have had. It is definitely somewhere that we would reccomend.

Fantastic villa in lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 10 days at Villa Daisy, close enough to visit everywhere we wanted to but quiet enough for peace and relaxation. The villa wassuperbly equipped and felt like home. We had loads of fun in the pool and visiting the local beaches. Salema was our favourite. We will definitely visit again.

Gorgeous villa in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in the stunning Villa Daisy, combining plenty of rest and relaxation with trips to local beaches, restaurants and towns.

The villa itself is on a small, well-maintained complex of similarly sized villas. It is large, well equipped and beautifully presented. The beds were very comfortable, the facilities clean and modern. The pool was a perfect 85F/29C and was well shielded from the neighbouring villas.

The accommodation was easy to find and a simple hour or so drive from Faro airport. It was ideally located within easy reach of several beautiful beaches both to the north and west of The Algarve in an area as yet largely unspoilt by tourism. A drive to the top of the Monchique mountains is a must... the views are breathtaking.

We would happily visit again.

A home from home, luxury, privacy and just fantastic.

  • 5 of 5

Having done the hotel/resort type of family holiday we were looking for somewhere we could do our own cooking, have our own pool, be somewhere a little quiet while still being close to the Algarve attractions. This gorgeous villa is locationed just opposite Burgau, 10 minutes from Luz, 15 minutes from Lagos, 25 minutes from Alvor, 35 minutes from Albufeira. It part of an estate of privately owned, high quality villa's. There are tennis courts and a play ground. Each villa is private and not over looking anyone. There are three lovely bedrooms, two of which (along with the living room) open onto the private heated swimming pool.

From the moment we arrived it felt like a home from home. We could relax, do our own cooking, keep an eye on the kids while they were in the pool (which they were ALL THE TIME!). The house was cool inside and the air was fresh with the lovely breeze in the evenings.

There is a supermarket (which has everything you need!) 6-7 minutes away. You've got access to Burgau and Lux and some fantastic places to eat (Chicca's in Lux highly recommended). We did trips in Lagos, day trips to Zoomarine (fab!) and Slide'n'splash (fab!). Go West for a 20 minutes and reach secluded beaches.

The villa had everything we needed to cook and look after ourselves. We just needed to bring our clothes, sun cream and do some shopping for food!

The 10 days we had there flew by and we were sad to leave. It was such an amazing place. Highly recommended.

Location

From the Owner

The Western Algarve is a bit of a secret to many. Empty beaches and fantastic scenery, combined with reliable weather and easy access provided all the incentive for having our villa here. You can choose to go with the crowds if you want to, or if miles of walking underneath the western cliffs is your thing, the area has it all. The weather is of couse the best bit, the joke is we ask what it is like just before we open the curtains, and then say, "Another blue sky day!". We were out in November and it was even warm enough to sun bathe. Of course in August - take your hat! We tend to use local car hire companies, they are cheap and right outside the terminal, then it's an hour to the villa. Then straight into the pool!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Faro at 97 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Burgau at 2 Kilometres Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The beach at the picturesque fishing village of Burgau is just three minutes by car, whiles the historic port of Lagos, with its colourful markets, attractive marina and vibrant nightlife, is located only ten minutes away. The beaches west of Praia da Luz all lie within the Costa Vincentina Natural Park, which encompasses 150km of unspoilt natural coastline. Some of the most unspoilt, uncrowded and wildest beaches in Europe are on the west facing coast. Quieter beaches face south.

Travel:

AlmaVerde is located 10km west of Lagos on the EN125 and the journey time from Faro International Airport is a comfortable 60 minutes. Car hire is essential, but easy to arrange and convenient at Faro airport.

Distances:

Burgau 2km.

Lagos 10km.

West Coast 19km.

Faro 90km.

Further Details:

AlmaVerde is the perfect base from which to enjoy the abundant range of sports and leisure activities that the Western Algarve has to offer. Long, sunny summers and mild winters make the area one of Europe’s premier golf destinations. There are more than twenty courses within an hour’s drive, including some of the top championship courses in Europe.

The open countryside is ideal for Rambling, Bird Watching and Horse Riding and, further inland, the ecology changes and the steeper hillsides provides unlimited challenges for mountain bikers. Lagos Marina has the best facilities of any Portuguese marina.

You can also rent dinghies, wind surfers, or go water-skiing from the beaches at Praia da Luz and Meia Praia. For surfers, the rugged west coast beaches, with their long Atlantic rollers, are an irresistible target. For the truly adventurous, there are opportunities for parasailing, paragliding and even learning to fly microlight aircraft. Scuba divers can explore caves and wrecks in the nearby coastal waters, and discover an abundance of sea life. The waters around the Cape St. Vincent peninsula are among the best in Europe for big-game fishing. Well-equipped boats are available from Lagos Marina.

The beaches in the Western Algarve are among the most beautiful and least crowded in Europe. Choose from among the many sheltered sandy coves along the South coast, or venture a little further a field to one of the more dramatic West coast beaches, open to the full force of the Atlantic swell.

With well over 100 restaurants in Lagos and the surrounding area, plus a myriad of cafés, there are options to tempt even the most the discerning palate. The cuisine is mostly Portuguese, but there are also some English, French, Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants, and one Middle Eastern restaurant. For families, there are two water parks and a marine park within a 45 minute drive of AlmaVerde.

Facilities

From the Owner

The villa is really comfortable, most people when they walk in are surprised by the space and the airey feel. The patio and pool and the villa itself form an open and adaptable living area. Some of our visitors have remarked they relaxed so completely, everything you need is to hand. When you do want to go out, you are close to both the south and west coasts, and this far into the Western Algarve the traffic is thinner and the crowds have disappeared. Our villa has the benefit of a couple of very comfortable folding beds that stretch the accommodation to 8. There is plenty of room for this should you so wish. Smaller children will enjoy the playground, and all have access to the tennis courts and well-being centre. You can even hire bikes!

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The entire accommodation is kept cool by the use of the innovative 'Coolhouse' system. This uses pipes buried deep in the ground to cool air, which is then circulated gently into the property. Combined with the specialised dense construction techniques, the benefit is that the villa is cool but without any of the side effects of running expensive air conditioning units. This means you can sleep in the cool without noise and that dry air you have with normal air conditioning. Outside: Private pool, terrace, garden, parking, garden table and chairs, sunbeds, BBQ. Private roof terrace with small table and chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are changed once per week. Property is cleaned before and after all bookings. Other: Stairs up to gallery which leads onto a wonderful private roof terrace. Space for all the family and entertaining. The Villa features central heating and also the innovative 'Coolhouse', an EU-funded partnership of environmental engineers and architects.
