A beautiful detached house which is very light and spacious. The shaded terrace is furnished with comfortable rattan seating , which is perfect for those days and evenings at home with a nice glass of chilled wine,relaxing whilst looking at the mountain views. In the heart of a picturesque white village. 3 km to the beach, walkable along the picturesque valley from the village in 40 mins. House interior is traditional Andalucian, white walls and terracotta tile floors and also grey marble floors, with new contemporary soft furnishings of light bright colours and good lighting from many windows to add to the overall ambiance. This is a very comfortable tranquil house for relaxing. there is an internet hot spot 15 euros per week and Spanish and free view and Satellite TV. Its a great base for walkers and people that like village life and dont want to use a car. There are many activities on hand and the olympic size municipal swimming pool will be open this summer. Not suitable for people with mobility issues as the village is very hilly !

My name is Cath and I'm a set designer and work in TV.
I bought the house 10 years ago when its was single storey with 2 rooms and no kitchen. I designed the layout utilising the fact that it has potential for windows on all sides being one of the few houses in the village that stands on its own. This makes it a very light and airy house. I like to keep the traditional rustic style, but liven it up with bright, fresh colours. If you like chintz, nets swags and Parker Knowle furniture, then this is definitely not the place for you.

"The house on Calle Refino was excellent, charming, full of character and so homely.
The views are wonderful and the street was so quiet apart from the sound of birdsong.
The house was spotlessly clean with comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen and great bathrooms.
The roof terrace afforded a very pretty and private space with nobody overlooking.

Lovely house in a lovely village
We stayed near Torrox in 2015 and visited the village on a number of occasions. We decided we liked the place so much we would stay in the village this year, so we booked Casa Catalina through Owners Direct. Casa Catalina is situated near the middle of the village and is a very well maintained typical Spanish white village house. Approaching up several steps, which we quickly got used to, the house is on three levels and was lovely and clean and tidy. It contains every thing you could possibly want for a stay. Although there was just the two of us, it could comfortably accommodate four people. With a wet room. two bedrooms with sleeping for two couples and another single bed,a fully fitted kitchen a living dining area, a further bathroom on the top floor next to a private sun terrace with amazing views,there's payable WI FI, you could even watch English channels on the TV. There's a grocers and butchers two minutes away, an English bar not much further. The main square with a variety of restaurants is five minutes walk. We found it great fun exploring the village with it's warren of narrow streets set on a hillside over looking the sea to one side and mountains to the other. For anyone wanting to stay in such a lovely setting I can thoroughly recommend Casa Catalina as a great base.
Traditional, peaceful, just perfect
We had a wonderful holiday in March 2016. Torrox is a traditional small town - locals are really friendly. Loved the lady selling avocados from outside her house - best I have ever eaten. The house was perfect in every way and very quiet. Fantastic walking in mountains and along the coast. We would definitely recommend this lovely house.
Good, could be very good.
Good accommodation, but could have been better. Some issues with layout ,the sun terrace is accesed via the main bedroom and the kitchen is on the floor below through the lounge. It just makes dinning alfresco a bit of a chew, taking every thing through and up the stairs, if you don't like eating out side then it is not a problem.
The other issue is with the sun blinds on two sides of the roof terrace, they are fixed, and cannot be raised, the other side has no blinds, and a loverly view, It also has a rush type of roof cover. I understand the privacy aspect, and it will keep cooler in the hight of the season, but I believe the renter should have a choice in the matter. On the plus side the owner has provided lots of equipment, and things like cloths, bin bags, cleaning materials, extra bedding, toilette rolls etc etc. The house is a short walk to the plaza with its bars/cafes/restaurants, it's a bit hilly, but we knew that before hand having stayed in the village several times. The house is large, light, and very comfortable but is getting a bit tired and in need of some TLC. The pick up and return to the airport went without a hitch. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the house
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a typical Spanish village, this is the house for you.
A lovely private terrace where we sat many a night with a nice glass of wine overlooking the mountains.
A five minute walk to the square where you will find plenty of restaurants to eat.
Whilst staying we drove to Granada and visited the stunning Alhambra Palace.
Would thoroughly recommend.
Feels like our home from home !
This was our 3rd visit to this beautiful house.
We love its location in a traditional Spanish village; a flavour of which you don't normally experience on holiday. We are always impressed by all the personal touches which makes us feel we are staying in a friend's house! It's very comfortable & the mountain views are really quite beautiful. It has a lovely private rooftop terrace which we love especially on warm summer nights. It's nice to walk around the village, the local people are friendly & there are great restaurants in the 'square' just a 5 min walk from the property. We have stayed at this property in the hot summer & in Spring when the nights have been cooler & have enjoyed the warmth of the wood burner & watching a DVD from the vast selection on offer.
We would highly recommend this picturesque house which captures the real essence of this idillyic part of Spain.

“Fate led me to buy the house as I never went over to Spain planning to buy. I came across the house for sale and it was exactly the same amount as I was going to invest into a sensible pension fund, and so `I decided that I would invest in bricks and mortar instead. It had a good energy even in its undeveloped state and it just felt right to buy it. Also I love a project. I love the fact it stands alone so has no neighbours living on top of you. It's private and yet right in the thick of the oldest (Moorish) part of the village, and only a short walk to all the bars and restaurants. So no arguments about who's going to drive!”

Great for walkers many walks through surrounding natural parks and surrounding countryside.
3km to beach and lively resort of Torrox Costa. You can walk to it in 45mins or get the local bus if you do not have a car. This stretch of the Costa Del Sol has a huge amount to offer. The promenade is a 1km long and is great for an evening preamble. There are many restaurants. The lively attractive resort of Nerja is just a 10 mins drive away - a visit to the caves here is a must when you fancy a morning out of the sun! You can take your pick of the many beaches this coastline has to offer. Municipal pool with retractable roof is a 10 mins walk, open in the summer months.
Torrox village is situated about 48km east of Malaga airport. The route is made easy as you stay on the N340 motorway exiting 4Km from the village following the well marked signs. Car hire at airport, or good transport links once in village, no car needed. We can arrange pick up for you.
5 mins drive to the beach. 11/2 hr to The beautiful city of Granada with it's well known Alhambra Palace,r. 2 hours to skiing on the Sierra Nevada Mountains . Closer by there are plenty more picture postcard white washed villages waiting to be explored. Nearby Frigliana and the 3rd sister village of Cómpeta are well worth a visit.
The pretty white village of Torrox is steeped in history dating back to the Moors and its delightful square is a popular meeting place. With it's orange trees, fountain and good range of bars and restaurants, it's a great place to while away an evening and sample the excellent choice of tapas! The square is only a short 5 minute walk from the house and has an indoor market selling fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood and much more, this being open 6 mornings a week. Throughout the village there are also several small supermarkets, shops and banks. Part of the charm of Torrox is it's maze of streets and steps, some quite steep, thus making this an unsuitable holiday for the infirm or people with mobility difficulties.

As a rule of thumb on hand over days guests are requested to leave by 11am to allow cleaning for the next guests. However we will always accommodate where possible.

Parking is close by. So tranquil as no traffic noises from road below yet a short walk to the lively square with many bars and restaurants. Would perfectly suit non car drivers as most of the village is car free. There is lots for walkers to explore in the village and surrounding areas. Outside: Terrace en suite to master bedroom. Table plus chairs, rattan furniture seating. Plants, flowers with irrigation on a timer. Utility Room: Iron, ironing board and washing machine.
