This stylishly furnished apartment is intended to be a 'home from home'. Recently installed kitchen and bathroom. The highlight or 'wow factor' if you like, is the fabulous uninterrupted 180 degree view of the ocean, visible from the living room, master bedroom and of course the balcony which is very comfortably furnished with teak table and chairs and deckchairs for alfresco holiday living. Located at the base of the Atlanterra hillside over-looking North Africa to the south and the Cape of Trafalgar to the West. Enjoy the sunset sipping a glass of Rioja. I know of no better apartment for the perfect holiday.

We live in the South of England, within walking distance of the sea, so you would think that we would get our fair share of the beach at home, but we just love the ocean. We spent many year working overseas and so have permanently itchy feet! So having a holiday home helps us to just get up and go when we feel like it.

Outside: Within the complex there are two pools, one large enough for lengths and the other a lagoon pool (open from mid April to mid October). There is also a small childrens play pool. Loungers are provide around the pool in the summer season. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen and towels are provided and changed on a weekly basis (beach towels are not provided). A welcome pack of groceries will also be waiting for you.

The apartment was fantastic.

Great Apartment fantastic views over the beach and the headland. Great location for visiting Cadiz Tarifa and Gibraltar. A bit of a walk to the village having said that walking along the beach was lovely. We ate in the apartment most days and the kitchen had everything we needed. From booking to departure Cathy was very professional and friendly. If we were the type who revisit it would be a yes from us. Thank you Cathy well done.

Beautiful, clean and as advertised

The Vaughan's home is spotless and has all the things you could need. The welcome grocery package was incredibly generous. Owners are super responsive and pleasant to deal with.

Small word of caution - in the fall - the area is very very very quiet. Great if you want quiet, but if you want more vibrancy you should consider booking in some of the "high season" months. Would return!

We really do try to make it as comfortable as possible and am not a fan of 'basic holiday accommodation' and it is nice to know that the effort is appreciated. Coastal villages all over Europe are always pretty quiet in the Autumn months, but temperatures are perfect for long walks and for visiting the many sites in the area, which can be packed in the high season. Stunning sea views and a very comfortable apartment

With a two minute walk onto a stunning beach and a balcony with breathtaking views to relax with a glass or two and watch the sun go down, this apartment is most highly recommended.

Not only that, it really feels like a home, not just a holiday rental. Stan was also a big help, rescuing us when we got a bit lost and giving us some good tourist tips! The welcome basket was very welcome, as we arrived quite late, and it meant we didn't need to rush straight out to the shops. so thank you so much for that. Our stay was in October, when the daytime temperatures are in the mid 20s and evenings are quite cool. However, as there is no air conditioning in the apartment, I think it could get a bit warm earlier in the season. so that would be our only negative comment.

All in all, a great holiday in a wonderful location.

We have just returned ourselves and the weather was still amazing and still able to sit outside in restaurants in the evening. Your thoughts about air-conditioning are noted, but we are lucky being so close to the sea and so there is usually a breeze during the night and we do have fans in each of the bedrooms which seem to be sufficient in most circumstances. A little piece of heaven

This compact luxury apartment is located on the beach at Atlanterra with stunning views of Trafalgar in the distance and the coastline of Barbate. The white sands and blue seas are probably some of the best views available from the balcony. The apparent is Moorish in its decor with every mod-con (including WiFi) and facility available with comfort and relaxation the beating heart of it all. If the beach is too windy, there are two main swimming pools available to use and a splash pool for younger children. The gardens are well maintained and sun loungers are located around the pool areas. Safety is a paramount consideration with the complex gated on all sides and cars secured in an underground area. The area has a local supermarket that caters for all your immediate needs and sells beach equipment and flip flops if required, (although Cathy and Vaughan do supply beach chairs, parasol and bat and balls for your use). There is also a small bakery and butchers if you need. The local village of Zahara Los Atunes is approximately a mile and a half away, and although small has a plethora of Restaurants and Bars for eating all kinds of locally caught fish (tuna being their business) and various other locally sourced meat etc. Food can be sampled in various ways with Tapas, Pizzerias, and full al a Carte menus to choose from. There are also a myriad of little shops selling local crafts and clothing, jewellery and also Moorish gifts. We found a small street market on Saturdays which specialized in clothing and leather goods which was a great place to soak up the atmosphere. this led on to a small local food market selling fresh fish, meat, cheeses, olives, and wines so of course you have to indulge. If there is a downside to all of this, English is rarely spoken by anyone, although for us this added to the feeling of really getting away and we got by with the use of Google translate. The location is quite deceiving, (giving the impression of being quite remote) but we found that we could get to larger towns/cities quite easily via the main road in very short times. You can get to Gibraltar, Jerez, Cadiz all within an hour and a half, and if you feel adventurous, Tarifa, the Kite Surfing capitial of the world is less than half an hour away and from there you can take a 30 minute ride across the sea in a hydrofoil to Tangier's. All in all, if you just want totally get away to recharge your batteries, I can thoroughly recommend Cathay and Vaughan's place.

The apartment sits on 13 kms of beautiful, clean, white sand. We are at the Atlanterra end of Zahara beach, where there are lots of rock pools for paddling and bathing.

The village of Zahara has developed a reputation for its culinary excellence over the past five years, with more and more restaurants and tapas bars opening every year. Alongside this there are two gastronomic events, the Ruta del Atun (The Tuna Route), which takes place in May and lasts a week, with each restaurant competing for the coveted title of winner. At the other end of the season there is the Ruta de Retinto (The Beef Route), it is the same concept, but featuring the meat of the famous local cows.

One place that has to be top of your list to visit is Vejer de la Frontera, a 20 minute drive away up a winding road to a hilltop Pueblo Blanco. Wander through the narrow streets, catching a glimpse of the beautiful hidden courtyards and fantastic views across the 'el campo' to the coast or mountains.

Tarifa a half hour drive in the other direction, is a walled town on the coast and the place where you will find Whale watching trips and the ferry to Tangiers.

Cadiz is about an hour away, an ancient city with many tales to tell. Jerez again is about an hour away, a beautiful city with a fascinating Alcazar (a Moorish fortified palace), Sherry tours and the famous Spanish Riding School, all worth a visit.

There are also lots of lovely walks in the area, either on the coast or inland. The migratory season is of particular interest to Bird watching enthusiasts. We have several regulars who come every year.


Zahara village is 2km away, a 2 minute drive or a 30 minute walk along the beach. Barbate is the nearest town with 4 large supermarkets!!

Closer to hand there is a little supermarket and a bakery/patisserie at the end of our road (not open in the winter). In the village itself there is a 'Dia' Supermarket which stocks all necessities, a couple of bakeries, a butcher and assorted little stores. A daily market sells freshly caught fish, fruit and vegetables. There a couple of ATM machines if you run short of pocket money.

The HomeAway site will charge their service charge on booking by credit card, this does not come to me. Payment to me for the rental is by bank transfer. I will send you bank account details when a booking is confirmed.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally Saturday during the high season, but can be flexible at other times.

Notes on prices:
A deposit of £100 is payable upon booking confirmation and the balance due 8 weeks before departure. Payment can be made by cheque or bank transfer.
On arrival you will be met by our local representative who will take you to the apartment and show you how everything works and provide you with a wealth of local information. We do not send out keys in advance as we prefer a more personal touch.
Please note that for arrivals after 10 pm there will be a charge of EUR20 paid locally.
