Alvor Beach is a superb stretch of golden sandy beach, just a 10 minute stroll from the apartment with a number of beach cafes.
Nature lovers should visit the marshland and mudflats of the Alvor estuary which is great for birdwatching.
Take a stroll along the coast to the harbour and see the fishermen bring in their morning catch. Have lunch at one of the many harbour cafes with views across the river estuary.
Faro airport is 70km away (approximately 45 minutes drive on the motorway).
Car hire is not essential but desirable if you want to tour around. Should you wish not to drive, we can arrange reliable transfers.
Alvor is situated between Portimao (5km) and Lagos (17km).
Watersports such as snorkelling, wind surfing, water skiiing and big game fishing, boat trips at sea and up the river are popular.
Slide and Splash, Aqualand, Zoo Marine and Jeep Safaris are also close by for the children.
Lagos, Silves, Sagres and Monchique are well worth a visit.
Large shopping centres are to be found in Portimao and Albufeira.

The apartment is secure with video entry phone in a small block of twelve units in a quiet residential street. Full air conditioning with heating and cooling. All rooms have electric window shutters. There is a ramp to the apartment block which allows easy access for buggy and wheelchairs. An elevator serves the garage and all levels except roof terrace. Outside: Spacious roof terrace with furniture including table, chairs, sun loungers, umbrellas and a BBQ. The balcony has a small table and chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen, bath and beach towels are supplied. Linen and towels are changed weekly. Apartment is cleaned weekly. More frequent cleaning and towel changes are available at an additional cost. Other: Beach parasols, buckets and spades, books, games and DVDs are available for use.
