The Alamar II group of villas are situated at Burriana Beach and No. 4 is a spacious Spanish style villa. Burriana Beach, the main beach in Nerja is sandy with safe swimming and rocks at either end which are good for snorkeling. There are a variety of watersports, windsurfing, pedaloes, etc. and a PADI diving centre. The colourful local fishing boats add a lot of interest, and there are a number of bars and restaurants along its promenade. The Balcon de Europa, the centre of Nerja, is only a 10 minute walk from the villa. A perfect location for a family holiday for all ages and ideal for 2 families sharing. The villa is on 3 floors:- kitchen, cloakroom, dining and living room on the ground floor; 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the 1st floor; and 3 twin bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on the lower floor. The villa is equipped with 1 cots, a high chair and stair gates.

It was a beautiful villa in an excellent location. We had a wonderful week and will certainly keep it in mind for our next family get together. Beautiful. Excellently situated and perfect for a family holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the villa clean, well equipped, spacious and very convenient. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.

This was the perfect place to stay, very close to the beach for us to push the little one and the 4 older parents found it very convenient. The group was very impressed with the accommodation and we will be looking to return again next year.

Brilliant villa

Have just returned from a fabulous holiday here! The villa is in the most perfect location for all ages. Few minutes walk from the beach which was great for the kids and had a variety of water sports, pedalos etc. Lovely 15 min walk into Nerja. Pool was fab. Shared with other villas but in a lovely spacious garden and was nice for the children to have others to play with. Villa was clean and very well equipped. Beds were so comfy! Everything was great. Thank you Elisabeth for all your help and advice. So glad we went with Menyber for the transfers, made it all so hassle free. The only negative was that there are a lot of stray cats which use the pool area/ garden as a toilet, hence only 4 stars. Would definitely love another holiday here.

Perfect location

We spent 10 days in this Villa and found it to be a fantastic location, with Burriana Beach being a 2 minute walk, and about a 10-15 minute walk to the Balcon De Europa, although this goes quickly, and after an initial 5 minutes uphill it is mostly flat. There is a new(ish) Mercadona supermarket in the opposite direction, again about 15 minutes away, although this is all uphill. There is another Mercadona in town which is next to a big taxi rank if you don't fancy the walk back. The location itself was fairly quiet thanks to being some distance away from the town, although there was one bar over the road that stayed open quite late, although it didn't really trouble us. There are lots of restaurants and bars at Burriana beach, but not too many tapas options so you should probably head into town if that's your thing.

The villa itself was good overall. It was more than big enough for 9 of us, even my 15 month son got his own bedroom, using the supplied travel cot. The mattress was a bit hard in the cot but that's fairly standard, we used a spare duvet to make it comfier. The bedrooms upstairs have balconies and views to the garden or sea, whereas the three bedrooms downstairs are underground, making two of them a little dark. The third overlooks the road and is a little noisier. This didn't really bother us. The only negative was the smell, I assume because the rooms are underground - it can get a little musty and there was a slight sewage smell. However this did not linger for too long (or maybe we got used to it?), and fortunately it didn't seem to smell in the bedrooms, just the basement hallway. There was also a couple of cold showers when all the hot water had been used.

The garden and pool was great, very spacious and well kept. I'm not sure how many villas share it but there was only one other family using it while we were there. The pool is quite deep (I think it was around 5' at the shallow end), although with the sea just round the corner we didn't use it too much anyway.

The villa is managed by local firm Menyber, who we found to be very helpful after some initial confusion about transport. They provided the transfer to / from the airport at a cheaper rate then any we could find, and the driver also had the keys for us. Note, if you have your own transport then you may be required to collect the keys from their office in the centre of town, which is a good 20 minutes away.

We will likely revisit at some point.

Perfect for what we needed, enough space and great location.

Really enjoyed staying here for the weekend, the villa was clean and comfortable. We had one issue with the hot water not working in the down stairs bathrooms and when I contacted menyber they sent a plumber within 2 hours and fixed the problem. Great location to access the beach and the town. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Disappointed

We were disappointed with our stay at your villa and it fell far below our expectations. We are aware that there is a refurbishment programme in progress but to leave it as late as the week before we arrived is totally unacceptable. The smell of paint was so strong and pungent that I had a severe headache and nausea for the first twenty four hours. As it was so windy we were unable to keep the windows open for any length of time and the smell of paint was still noticeable throughout our stay.

This apartment is possibly adequate for a summer stay but unsuitable for a winter let. The heating is inadequate, the windows are draughty and the basement smells of damp. Hot water system is poor even though two heaters provided. We got max two showers from each. Considering the apartment is rated for 8-10 persons this is inadequate. We had to operate a 'shower rota'! Some notes should be provided advising that there are two separate water heating systems. Lower floor en suite bathroom shower will not get warm until the hot water is run in the sink, this is obviously incorrect. However if that is how it works then some instructions should be provided. Bathroom under kitchen appears to have damp problems as paint is flaking onto the floor and into the sink.

In kitchen if oven is on then toaster pops the trip. Suspect that toaster is past its best. Kettle seems similar. A teapot would be nice.Tea towels x 2 are quite useless for a kitchen used by 8-10 people. Blue towels are virtually unusable and tiny (even the bigger ones). They don't absorb they just push water around your body.The two wicker armchairs in lounge area are so old they are actually dangerous. Parasols for balcony look very old and decrepit. No cushions for plastic chairs.Under stairs to basement there is much old rubbish that should go. Cot is actually falling apart.Baby mattress is dirty.Curtains in lounge and elsewhere are dirty and showing the 17 years age.Both double beds upstairs are very small. Headboards loose from wall. One above kitchen needs new mattress. Blankets are very old tatty and not really suitable in this day and age.No air conditioning which must be chronic in Summer.In winter this could be used to heat.The electrical heaters were ok but not good enough. The apartment is not really suitable for winter letting due to lack of efficient heating and lack of sufficient hot water. Sincerely hope the new owner addresses these issues.

Owner's Response: Dear Bridget, As you point out, we are currently improving the dwelling and it was indeed sad that you do not appreciate it. Our house is no luxury but well on the way of being a very comfortable vacation home. From the day we took over the house 6 month ago it's been undergoing an update and refurbishment. It is a simple house 5 bedroom 5 bathroom, bed linen and towels are included with the installation of new clean after a week, a simple functional kitchen, a living room with TV, DVD and free Wi-Fi, a terrace with BBQ facilities, 10 meters to go to the pool, 3 mins walk to Burriana beach, 3 minute walk to the nearest grocery store, many restaurants by the beach, 10 minutes walk into the city and the heart of Nerja Balcony of Europe. I think the Hilton hotel, or Parador hotel located just 5 minutes from our apparent would suit you better the next time you visit Nerja. As this could provide you with some added luxury.

Coast/Beach:

100m from beach, a 2 minute walk along our service road and across the promenade. The terrace and several windows overlook the beach. Burriana is a safe sandy beach with rocks at either end. Local fishing boats launch from the beach and there are pedallos, watersports and a PADI dive centre. There's a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops on the promenade.

Travel:

Malaga Airport is a 45 mins. drive. Airport transfers by private minibus can be arranged by our local agent. Car hire is not essential as the beach and all amenities, shops, restaurants, and the centre of Nerja are walkable. We can recommend local car hire companies.

Distances:

10 mins. walk to centre of Nerja. 3km to the Nerja Caves

6 kms to Frigiliana, a typical Spanish hill village.

48km to Malaga a beautiful City

100km (approx) to Grenada and the Alhambra.

Seville, Cordoba, Marbella, Mijas, Rhonda, and Gibraltar can all be visited from Nerja.

The Sierras behind Nerja offer extensive walking in the National Park
