Villa With Private Pool, Children's Pool, Large Terraces And Sea Views

Updated: 20-Oct-2016
Kalkan, Mediterranean Coast. Wonderful Views Over Kalkan Bay and Mountains, Full Air-conditioning and Wi-Fi Broadband

Villa Louise has great views across Kalkan and the vivid turquoise waters of the bay towards Kisla. Sited on Kaktus Sokak, a quiet access road, it overlooks designated 'park' land which was originally an olive grove but is now a mass of green, with trees, shrubs and oleander taking over.

The villa has been fitted to the highest standards with great care and attention to detail to make it a real home from home. It comfortably accommodates 8 people in 4 large bedrooms (3 double and 1 twin) served by 3 shower/bathrooms, including en-suite with marble tiling and powerful shower unit. The 3 first floor bedrooms enjoy sea views and two have balconies overlooking the pools, terrace and sea. The modern, fully equipped kitchen adjoins the large light, airy open plan living / dining room which opens, through 2 sets of patio doors, onto a beautifully landscaped pool and terrace areas.

Leading out from twin patio doors, there's a secluded 'courtyard' terrace area with comfortable sofa and chairs which is perfect for morning coffee, shady in the later afternoon if you need to get out of the sun, and beautifully lit in the evening for pre-dinner and late night drinks.

The raised dining terrace, with built-in BBQ, sofa, dining table and chairs for 8, and shaded pergola, is reached by a marble staircase and has uninterrupted views across the bay. With its soft white curtains blowing in the breeze, it's a great place to relax and retreat from the heat of the day as well as to dine and socialise in the evening.

About the Owner

We spent a week in Kalkan as a last minute holiday back in September 2006 and ended up buying Villa Louise! We were totally seduced by the food, the weather, the town and the friendliness of the local people in equal measure, and we still spend all our holiday time there. Our objective has been to make Villa Louise match our own expectations of a holiday home, ensuring that it is equipped to the very highest standards and, through ongoing investment, that the guest experience improves every year. A home from home, but with blue skies and even bluer sea!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Villa Louise provided everything to make a perfect holiday. We were a party of 5 adults and 2 children and found the outside space fantastic. It was always kept clean and tidy for us. The children had hours of fun playing in the swimming pool and we found the small pool especially good for our 5 year old granddaughter. The villa is very spacious and well equiped, the pictures do not do it justice! We are currently planning our return visit next year! (Doncaster)

This is a beautiful villa. I spent many hours choosing it and was not disappointed - it is spacious, comfortable and tasteful. We were particularly impressed with the pool terrace - sea views and gorgeous landscaping. Our kids (11, 9 and 7) loved it (Leamington Spa).

We had a wonderful time and absolutely loved villa Louise. You have thought of everything and the villa and grounds were beautiful. Thank you again for a great holiday, we can't rave about it enough!(Edinburgh).

Our 5th visit to Villa Louise

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our fifth visit to beautiful Kalkan and Villa Louise. We would not wish to stay anywhere else! The owners of the villa are always happy to accommodate any requests and are always striving to improve the facilities, for example, upgrading the bathrooms and making the outside space even more private. The villa suits our party of 8 perfectly and offers the opportunity to either spend time around the pool, have quiet times in the shade or admire the view or BBQ from the upstairs terrace. The gardens are absolutely stunning with many beautiful plants. Inside is very spacious and well equipped providing everything you would need for a perfect holiday. We have made many friends with the local people of Kalkan, in the restaurants, bars and shops. Nothing is ever too much trouble and you are always made to feel very welcome. I’m sure we will be returning many more times.

It is easy to see why Mr and Mrs Aylett fell in love with Villa Louise, what a beautiful place. We all had an amazing week in their lovely home. Everything was spot on, from the welcome pack (much needed wine!) all through the week, everthing was just perfect. Lazy afternoons by the pools and family meals on the terrace, just perfect, looking forward to next year.

Beautiful place, beautiful villa!

  • 5 of 5

Villa Louise was all we were promised and more. The Villa is spacious and modern with a very homely and comfortable feel to it. The kitchen was kitted out with every single utensil you could think so making dinner/breakfast or using the BBQ which is located in the garden on the upstairs terrace much easier and hassle free - The Villa was also fitted with air conditioning which was much needed after a hot day in the sun. The garden surrounding the villa is gorgeous and well kept and the view of the beach from the pool side was a bonus. The villa is a quiet 10 minute walk from Kalkan Beach and on your walk you can see the town and all it has to offer. The locals are friendly and the traditional Turkish food is amazing and I would definitely go back. Our beach and bathroom towels were changed regularly and our stay was overall made extremely comfortable in our own luxury villa. It really is a paradise and we highly recommend! An absolutely stunning villa! 5 stars!

Beautiful villa in a quiet location

  • 5 of 5

The villa is very clean, easy to find and very well equipped.

The outside area is gorgeous and there are lovely views from the villa.

The photographs do not do the villa justice. It is actually much larger than the photos make it appear!

Kalkan has some great restaurants and we had a fabulous boat trip. You can charter a private boat for a very modest fee.

We would certainly recommend this villa; book it and you won't be disappointed!

Great Escape

  • 5 of 5

Villa Louise is unlike most holiday rentals - the footprint means it has unusually good outside space, chill-out seating and a stunning upper dining area with built-in BBQ and great views. Whilst Kalkan has a vast array of restaurants at all prices, you're not obliged to eat out, as the kitchen is well equipped, shops are well stocked, and you can barbeque.

So if you want to sit in the shade and read a book, or sit by the pool on a sunlounger, you won't be disappointed. Equally, if you need to keep an eye on young children or need space away from teenagers, your needs are catered for!

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the villa, and although there are now just the two of us, can see that it would suit most combinations of families.

Owner's Response: So glad that you enjoyed your stay Lynne. The outside space was what made the villa stand out from the crowd for us back in 2007, and we hope we have enhanced it over the years with the lighting, planting and chill out zones. Indeed, we are looking to do some more work over the winter that will improve it further for our 2015 guests.

So much space...

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Louise. The owners arranged transfers for us and we arrived late in the evening, so the welcome pack was really appreciated. The villa is well equipped with everything we could ever need, so it really is like a home from home. The outside space is brilliant - even with 8 people there’s loads of room around the pool, on the sofas by the dining room, and up on the BBQ terrace. We even had a man (Hoca) to look after the pools, put the umbrellas in the morning and and take them down in the evening! The villa looks towards the sea over an area of trees and bushes that was probably an olive grove, so, unlike some of the places we’ve stayed at in Kalkan, you’re not overlooking other people. Loved the quirky pool waterfall too! The photographs on the web site don’t do it justice. We highly recommend Villa Louise.

From the Owner

For us, Turkey has it all; great weather pretty well throughout the year, interesting cuisine ranging from middle eastern and Ottoman influence through to southern European (we reckon on paying the same price for a full dinner with wine in Kalkan as you would pay at Pizza Express in the UK!). It has incredible historic sites, mountains, lakes....and of course beaches. Kalkan itself gives a good balance of all those things. It is renowned for its eating out, the old town is beautifully unspoilt and the surrounding countryside is fascinating. We looked at many areas when we were buying, but we kept coming back to Kalkan. It is far enough from the airports to keep tourist numbers manageable, but near enough for those who know the secret!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Dalaman at 100 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Kalkan at 1 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Special interest holidays:

Kalkan and the surrounding areas have many ancient historical sites, including Xanthos and Patara, which make it an ideal place for walking/hiking holidays - particulary in the Spring and Autumn. The gorge at Saklikent provides another opportunity for walking as well as river tubing or rafting.

The villages surrounding Kalkan are well worth seeing either by bus, car or by hiring a local taxi driver for the day

There are very good scuba diving clubs at the harbour (beginners and experts), and water skiing/banana boat are available at the Kalamar Beach Club (free taxi service).

From Villa Louise it is a comfortable 15 min walk to the town and 20 mins to the harbour. Kalkan has a attractive pebble beach with umbrellas and beds as well as sophisticated beach clubs with secluded bathing, water sports and terrace restaurants which are reached by free water taxi and courtesy buses. If you want pure white sand, world renowned and unspoilt Patara Beach is a 15 min drive and Kaputas Beach is just 10 mins away. Both are easily reached via regular bus services.

Nearest airport is Dalaman which is approx. 100km from Kalkan. The drive takes 1.5 hours and the owners will be happy to arrange for private air conditioned transport to and from the airport upon request. Car hire not necessary but can be arranged through the owners or locally if you would like to see more of the beautiful Taurus Mountains and local historic sites.

The old town and harbour at Kalkan is 1km from the villa, which is a 15 to 20 minute walk depending on your mobility, although there are shops within 5 minutes walk from the villa and the nearest supermarkets are 8-10 minutes away.

Further Details:

Nestling in a bay beneath the Taurus Mountains, Kalkan was originally a small port serving the surrounding villages who's only access to the outside world was via the sea (it was never a fishing village, contrary to many guide book claims!). Often referred to as the best kept secret in Turkey, its pretty cobbled streets lined with old bougainvillea covered buildings, boutique shops, small bars and restaurants wind down towards the harbour - the heart of the old village. The pebble beach has recently been much improved and offers sun beds and umbrellas. Drinks and snacks are provided by nearby restaurants.

Kalkan is known for the quality and variety of its still reasonably priced, roof-top restaurants, all with spectacular views over the bay, where there is something for every taste and quality wines to match.

There are several well stocked supermarkets, some of which deliver to the villa. The Thursday market, just 10-12 minutes walk away, has a vast selection of local produce as well as the inevitable 'designer' clothing! There are several banks, all with ATMs that accept UK cards, and a Post Office where you'll usually get the best exchange rate.

From the Owner

We chose the location because it gave us the peace and quiet that we were looking for but, as it takes only 15 minutes or so to walk, was close enough to the town for us not to need a car to get there. The access road to the villa is very quiet and we overlook government green land that was part of the old olive grove so, unusually for Kalkan, we don't overlook other properties. However, what really sold it to us was the outside space. There's so much room, whether you want to lounge around the pool, chill out on the courtyard sofas or read on the upper dining terrace with its views across the pool and the bay. And after 7 years, the planting has really matured, giving us a mass of semi-tropical greenery and stunning bougainvillea which is lit subtly at night.
