About Rachel Plant

Rachel, Mark and their children live in Gloucestershire. We love this area of Spain - it represents many lovely parts of Spanish life. The weather, the people, the sea, the architecture, the food. We keep coming back here because there is always so much to do - there are places and towns that are still on our list to visit. We love to tell visitors about the area and are always happy to suggest places and activities.

We are very concerned about security with villa bookings - please call us using the phone number on our page, we are happy to meet, to send proof of identity etc. We have arranged many successful holidays in our villa.

Rachel Plant purchased this villa in 2005

Why Rachel Plant chose Roche

We bought this villa because we had come to the area when the children were babies. We love it's proximity to the sea, the amenities, the mellow atmosphere and the ability to be able to sit by the pool knowing that the children are safe and happy.

We love walking to the sea - enjoying the beautiful spanish houses on the way, the hibiscus, jasmine and bouganvillia. The little coves and larger beaches make you want to stay there all day.

We also enjoy the villas proximity to famous Andalusian towns, (Cadiz, Seville, Jerez). The location offers us many choices for day-trips. We have even visited Tangiers by hover craft for the day with our children.

There are so many places of interest to visit - we send our clients two pages of suggestions from waterparks to woodland art installation

What makes this villa unique

We enjoy the villa's interior and exterior space hugely.

The kitchen allows you to prepare meals but also keep an eye on the swimming pool and children, in most Spanish properties the kitchen is a dark room at the back of the house, our has 4 pairs of sliding french windows and a large peninsula unit for guests, bar-stools and a music system.

The barbecue area has a large shaded circular marble table that seats 8, it also has a marble bar area. A property layout that easily accommodates large parties through all the seasons.

In the Autumn and Spring the sitting room and solarium allows individuals to find their own favourite spot for a coffee and book. The chillier evenings sees everyone on the large sofa in front of the wood fire. We love this house and where it is.

Notes on accommodation: The spacious living areas allow comfortable year round accommodation with a working fireplace in the large sitting room with relaxing soft furnishings, glass solarium that shades you from the sun, lots of big sliding windows to let a breeze through. In winter and early spring when mornings are fresher it is a lovely place to sit with a morning coffee and look out onto the garden. The kitchen, unlike many other Spanish villas, is the social centre of the property. The peninsula unit gives you space to cook and space for friends join you with a glass of wine before everything is taken out to the large marble table next to the barbecue. The marble topped bar and stools provide a place to chat while watching the barbecue chef cook up a storm. Outside: Completely enclosed gardens, with sun patio. Shaded barbecue area with built in barbecue and marble circular table (seats 8). Private pool (7 x 5 m). Lawn space for boules and badminton. Pine trees providing shady areas. Roof top sun terrace access by spiral staircase. Utility Room: Washing machine, ironing board, iron. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: House towels and linen are included and will be changed every Saturday. Other: Solarium with rattan furniture. Large wraparound 270 degree windows

Fantastic family villa!

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a great week here - two families with four children. The villa is as described in the listing - comfortable, with loads of space, very well-equipped, and a fantastic pool! The lovely beach is only 10 mins walk away - nice and sandy with a cool breeze which sometimes made for waves, always fun to jump and bodyboard in!

Rachel was very friendly and helpful in advance and while we were there, responding quickly with advice when needed. Would definitely recommend this villa!

Fabulous Easter Holiday

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed in Rachel and Marks villa over the Easter Holidays - it was clean, airy and spacious. Everything was how it had been described on the website and by Rachel.

My older parents joined us half way through and we had a lovely time exploring nearby Spanish towns such as Vejer de la Frontera and Conil. The villa was easy for my older parents to move around in, very few steps and lots of quiet spaces.

There were many restaurants to visit, we didn't have dinner in the villa for the first 5 days. When we did cook, the kitchen had everything I needed. We were there for the Ruta de Tapas, local bars were competing for the best Tapas award - naturally we were there to help the judging. I would n't have know about that if it weren't for the information Rachel sent us.

I would also thoroughly recommend this villa to any families wanting to leave the car in the drive for a bit - walk to the beach, relax in the garden, generally enjoy just being.

Long weekend escape to Roche!

  • 5 of 5

I went to this villa along with 6 girlfriends for a long weekend of relaxation. Four of us flew to Malaga and the other three to Gibraltar. The journey from Malaga was a pretty straightforward 2 hours on the very quiet motorway. The villa was easy to find with Apple maps on the iphone. On arrival the villa was very clean, well maintained and beautifully furnished. The kitchen was very well stocked with all that you could need - we needed lots of glasses for 7 of us! I was very impressed with all of the facilities from the dishwasher and washing machine to the beautiful pool and the newly refurbished marble top shaded outdoor table. Although we didn't use the roof terrace, it looked like a lovely place to escape and have some private sunbathing time. The local shops were very handy to walk to for the morning bread and general provisions. The larger grocery stores in Conil provided us with all we wanted and were just a short drive away. It is a short walk to the fabulous sandy beach. A little way along the beach there is a restaurant called El Timon. Fantastic location and the food was very good, but overpriced. Restaurants in nearby Conil were much better value for money with equally good food. I cannot comment on nearby activities as a weekend was too quick a trip to really sample what was on offer, however Rachel provided lots of information about many different things going on in the area. I would very much like to go back for a longer trip with my family to really sample more of the area. I have already recommended this villa to several friends and will not hesitate to recommend it again. It is in a truly unspoilt part of the Spanish coast.

Lovely Villa in Roche, near Conil

  • 5 of 5

I rented this villa for myself and 2 children plus another family of 4. From the first communication with Rachel we received a first class service. The villa is exactly as described and the layout works very well for families to enjoy each others company and different areas for people wishing to play a game, watch a DVD etc. The house is well furnished and was spotlessly clean on arrival and the outside areas are all good too. The BBQ is rather basic but we had a keen BBQ'er and he managed fine and the large outside table was ideal. The location of the kitchen opening on to the garden was particularly good for everyone to pitch in and for no-one to feel cut off. The pool is a good size and provided many hours of entertainment for the children on inflatables.

We flew in to Seville which is a bit of a drive but manageable.

Once we arrived there was plenty to do in the area. The beach is walkable and lovely - good waves for the kids to jump in and good value beach cafes at regular intervals for lunch or evening meals with the family.

We would really recommend the Go Ape type activity very close by as all the children ran out of energy before they had completed all the available courses so we had to come back for a second visit!

There is go karting nearby and an aqua park 45 minutes away. The aqua park was fairly basic.

As the children get older there was information provided on many other possible day trips. We were all very relaxed after a week at the villa and would have liked to stay longer. I would thoroughly recommend the villa and the area and may well return at a future date.
