Guestbook comments from the owner

‘Casa La Molina was a fantastic, clean, well equipped apartment, excellent value for money with lots of extras provided, stunning views and a lovely pool area. The owners Jenny and Phil were very welcoming and friendly. The village of Comares was 100 yards up the hill and the setting was perfect for us, with breathtaking views. The village is still very Spanish and unspoilt. There are several bars and a couple of restaurants and the locals are very friendly. The area is excellent for walking and for anyone who likes a holiday somewhere quieter and less commercial than the bigger resorts. It takes half an hour to get to the apartment from the motorway - it is hairpin bends so be careful! I can't say enough good things about this apartment - its facilities and setting are fantastic and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone’

Excellent location with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Casa La Molina offers a choice of 4 modern well appointed air-conditioned appartments in an ideal location at the edge of the historical village of Comares. Having visted the area over the past 15 years these appartments are great if yoiu just want chill out and do nothing but soak up the sun and cool off in the pool, It is also a very good base from which to explore the beautifull mountains of Andalucia with its white villages. Owners Jenny and Philip went out of their way to ensure our month stay was an enjoyable experience. I think we will be back soon.

Availability:

The apartments cater for 2 to 5 people in the four apartments. For current availability see http://www.andaluciandreams.com for up to date availability information or send an email.

Special interest holidays:

Only 200 m away from the apartments is a 430m zip-line and a number of climbing routes.

Coast/Beach:

Torre del Mar is the nearest beach about 15 miles away. There are then numerous beaches both east and west along the Mediterranean coast. Naturist beaches are a mile to the west of Torre del Mar and also about 8 miles east of Nerja by La Herredura.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Malaga which is an hour away. Granada airport is an hour and a half. Bilbao and Santander are about a 10 hour drive and Calais is about 20 hours. A car is essential, and cheaper than a taxi, unless you wish to walk everywhere. Numerous car hire companies are based at Malaga airport. Crown Hire is generally one of the cheaper ones.

Distances:

The apartments are about 60 minutes from Malaga airport. 90 minutes from Granada and the Alhambra Palace. 40 minutes from the beach at Torre del Mar, an aqua-park and a large supermarket. 120 minutes from Cordoba and Ronda. 5 minutes from restaurants, tapas bars and shops.

Further Details:

The Axarquia:

This area is very beautiful, rolling hills and mountains that dip down to the azure coloured sea. Little white-washed cottages with drying beds for the moscatel grapes dot the countryside. The hillsides are covered with vines, almonds, olives, avocados and mangoes. Spring brings multitudes of wild flowers to Andalucia and wildlife from eagles to chameleons is varied and colourful.

Here you have the advantage of being in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by beautiful mountains, yet only 40 minutes from the beach, shops and the nightlife on the Costa del Sol.

Comares:

Comares village has a doctor’s surgery, a chemist, a tobacconist, a post office and a very good all in one shop selling everything from kirby grips to salted cod. Market day is on Saturday. There are several bars, a restaurant in the old mill that overlooks the precipitous drop to the valley floor. Several other cafes offer very good ‘menu del dia’ from 6 to 8 euros.

The very narrow streets are carless, but you can follow the ceramic footprints for a tour round the historic fortified village that dates back to the 3rd century BC. Don’t be surprised to see a donkey watching you from a doorway! Do go up to the cemetery. The best views are frequently enjoyed by the dead.

Activities:

A car is essential if you want to do anything other than walk. Within easy striking distance you have beaches, caves, golfing, boating, skiing, olive mills, markets. Do visit the ports at Benalmadena, Cabo Pina and Puerto Banus in Marbella to enjoy people watching of the rich and famous!

Malaga city's old quarter is very beautiful and has fantastic restaurants and tapas bars. The Parador at the top of the Gibralfo has a couple of Michelin stars so is worth having an evening out to enjoy gourmet food. Malaga’s Santa Semana Easter festival is breathtaking and the ten day August Festival is world renowned.
