A pueblo-style villa, situated in a small, exclusive development on Chumbera Hill Nerja, 45 minutes’ drive east of Malaga. Acquired by its current owners in 2010, the property is in excellent decorative order throughout. A spacious, double aspect lounge with ceiling fan, cable TV (showing a full range of English and European channels), DVD and CD player and radio. Wi-fi available on a PAYG system. Sliding doors leading out onto a large, sunny terrace with stunning views of the sea, mountains and the Roman aqueduct. Brick barbecue, table with four chairs, parasol and recliner chairs. Two good sized bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin). Two newly refurbished bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen/diner (microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher). Laundry room with washing machine and beach equipment. Pool less than 20 metres away with shower, sunbeds and parasols.

Wi-fi Internet is available with good reception throughout the villa including the terrace and pool area. Award winning Burriana beach, with water sports, shops and restaurants 6 mins walk. Nerja town aprox 15 mins walk. Bus stop within 150 metres of the property. Car parking is adjacent to the property.

About the Owner

Jane and Steve Langford live in Romsey, Hampshire UK and bought Casa Lester in 2010.

"We love Spain and have enjoyed holidays in the Nerja area for over the last fifteen years, initially with our two children and recently as a couple and with friends.

Six years ago we discovered Chumbera Hill and since then we have stayed there, initially as guests in the villas.

In 2010, we heard that Casa Lester would be 'on the market' and we were overjoyed! It was our favourite villa on the complex, a very special place.

We feel so privileged to be able to spend our time in such lovely surroundings and to be able to share our home with family, close friends and occasional visitors, many of who return.

Our plans are to spend more and more of our time there as family and work commitments permit".

We adore Nerja for its typical Andalucian character and its size - large enough to have good restaurants but small enough to deter mass tourism. The Chumbera development is the perfect location to give absolute privacy whilst providing good and convenient access to beach, town and shops. Situated on the outskirts of the town, we enjoy far reaching and uninterraupted views. The weather is wonderful and we have had glorious days - even in the winter months. We enjoy relaxing, but we also like to explore. The location of Nerja provides us with a perfect base for touring Andalucia and discovering the 'real Spain'. We enjoy walking/rambling and the trails up into the hillside from our villa are limitless. We have compiled a book of walks of varying lengths and this is to be found in the vill

Walking and hiking in the Almijara National Park (can be accessed on foot from the villa).

Tennis - floodlit courts are available within walking distance of the villa. Racquets can be hired. There are also two padel tennis courts.

Padi diving school - at Burriana Beach (5 mins from villa) offers diving lessons and trips as well as snorkelling safaris.

Kayaking along the coast - Burriana Beach

Horseriding and other adventure pursuits as well as excursions to places of interest throughout Andalucia are available and can be booked at the information centre in Nerja.

The award-winning Burriana Beach is 6 minutes walk with all its amenities e.g. diving, beach sports, boat trips and internet cafes.

Other beaches are also accessible, many unspoiled and deserted.

Depending on wind conditions, wind surfing, supping and kite surfing are all available. It is a lovely walk in the evening along the beach to the nearby town of Nerja with its wide variety of restaurant, shops and cafes.


Malaga Airport with direct motorway links. Approx 50 minutes by car.

Local bus into Nerja 150 yards of villa (1 euro)

Main bus route from Nerja to airport and other towns. All coaches and buses are modern with air conditioning.

Roads between towns are usually good, wide, well-lit and empty! Most have stunning views.

Car Hire is easy and very cheap either from the Airport or from Nerja town.

The ResortHopper service from the Airport (15 euro) stops just 10 mins walk from Casa Lester.


Supermarket 5 mins walk. Beach 5-6 mins walk (5 mins going down and 7 coming back up the hill!). Nerja town 15 mins walk.

Nerja Caves/National Park 45 minute walk or 5 minute bus/car ride.

Maro village 45 minute walk.

Frigiliana 15 min by car.

Hypermarket, El Ingenio with designer shops, restaurants and cinema 15 mins by car.

Malaga - 50 min by car. Granada and the Sierra Nevada - 1.5 hours by car. Seville - 2.5h by car. Cordoba - 2.5h by car. Gibraltar - 3.00h by car.

Nerja is an ideal holiday destination with something for everyone. With it's pretty winding streets and whitewashed houses. Spanish family life is very important and children are always welcomed in restaurants and cafes/bars.

Shop openings are morning and evening, with a long lunchtime siesta. Enjoy a meal, an evening stroll around the town and maybe one of the fantastic helados (icecreams) from the stalls on the Balcon de Europe.

There is a huge range of restaurants, to suit every pocket, many with flamenco-style entertainment. A small but popular theatre has a variety of entertainment. There is also a cinema (Spanish) and Museum.

Almost all shops and restaurants now accept credit/debit cards. There are several banks in Nerja and numerous ATM.

There are several small, sandy beaches in Nerja perhaps the best of which is Carrabeo.

The largest and award-winning beach, Burriana, with its bars, beach shops, promenade and restaurants is just a short walk away from the villa.

There are Anglican and RC churches in Nerja that welcome Sunday visitors.

Casa Lester is also an ideal base from which to explore Andalucia, both on foot and by car with fantastic drives along winding roads into the mountains and coastal paths reminiscent of the West coast of England.

The Sierra de Almijara rises to over 1800 metres, and this acts as a barrier to any northerly winds that occasionally affect much of the rest of Spain during the winter months. Rainfall is largely absent during the summer months, and with a regular afternoon sea breeze, the heat of inland Spain is seldom experienced. In fact, a survey suggests, that this part of the Costa del Sol experiences the best all-year-round weather in Europe.

Outstanding views. Tranquility with all modern conveniences and a vibrantly Spanish feel. The villa has two entrances which provides flexibility of accommodation. Two small private gardens, with grassy areas and flower borders. Car parking close to villa, easy for shopping and suitcase transfers! A beautiful and very well kept swimming pool just 20m from our door. Due to the small size of the complex, the pool is always quiet. A very well maintained and managed environment. Lovely shrubs and garden areas. Friendly clientele. Most of the villas are used solely by Owners, so there is a very good community feeling. Easy walk into Nerja, a bustling, holiday feel with lots of restaurants and shops. Lovely to visit, but lovely to return! Home from home.

  • Notes on accommodation: Excellent on site Managing Agent, available to help with any problems, speaking fluent English, Spanish, French and German. Comprehensive Information folder is available at the villa. Casa Lester is our home and we are very particular about its maintenance and cleanliness. Casa Lester is a no-smoking villa, both indoors and outside on the terrace. Soft furnishings (cushions, bedding etc) are tasteful and new last year. Three electric oil filled radiators provided for winter use. Fans for summer use. A cot and a highchair can be arranged. Tap water at the villa is considered to be suitable for drinking. Outside: A very attractive location, Chumbera Hill is a cul de sac amongst other houses mostly owned by resident Spanish families. Adequate parking is available before entering the complex through an attractive archway. All of the ten properties are privately owned and maintained to a very high standard. The gardens and borders are filled with flowering shrubs, which are carefully tended. The design of the development is low-rise with courtyards and fountains giving a very Spanish feel and providing absolute privacy for the owners and their guests. Our villa has a private, large, sunny terrace with recliner chairs. Circular glass-topped table with four chairs and parasol. Brick built barbecue with chimney. The terrace has stunning views yet complete privacy for sunbathing. Two private, small gardens to front and rear of the villa are well stocked with traditional plants including a variety of cacti. Shared swimming pool within 20 yards. Parking is available next to the villa. Utility Room: Casa Lester has a separate Laundry Room with iron/ironing board, washing machine. Beach parasols, raffia mats, buckets and spades etc are kept there too. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen is provided and includes all bedding and towels (bathroom, beach, and tea). The house is prepared for you and cleaned on departure. A Welcome Pack can be pre-ordered, this includes basic household goods and foodstuffs. Other: The villa is on two levels with Bedroom 2, with its en suite, downstairs. Guests staying there can feel relatively separate and enter and exit the villa independently. Bedrooms are bright and spacious with good amounts of storage.
