Just 35 minutes drive from Faro airport finds you among the Moorish looking buildings of Tavira Gardens. Set in immaculate lush grounds and only 15 minutes walk to the town centre.

Our air-conditioned semi detached home is located in the quaint pretty riverside town of Tavira. The property is registered number AL/7191.

The complex facilities at Tavira gardens include a tennis court, 2 pools, fitness centre, bar/restaurant and boules court. Our stylish comfortable airy bright home is great for families. A Modern fitted kitchen, with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, microwave hob/oven etc. The open lounge/dining room has flat screen TV, opens unto the back garden patio with insect screens complete with tables, chairs, sun loungers and stone bar-be-cue

The four double bedrooms all furnished with comfortable beds one with twin beds, air-condition, insect screens on doors and windows.

Relax and unwind in the comfort of our home and enjoy our warm hospitality. We have included a cot and high chair at no extra charge.

Basically, if all you want from your holiday is somewhere to relax in the sunshine, with a book, cold drink, eat in the restaurant and maybe a dip in one of the two pools, play tennis, boules or burn off some calories in the gym then Tavira gardens is the perfect place.

Heading to the beach there is a boat service from the centre to the 'Ilha de Tavira' (Island of the Tavira). It is a short boat ride costing around €1.50. It is a beautiful white sandy blue flag beach with bars and restaurants.

There are excellent golf courses with minutes drive from the accommodation. The nearest is Beanamour, Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Monte Rei.

The historic centre of Tavira is situated on the banks of the river Gilao. It is referred to in guide books as the 'Venice of the Algarve' and is the most authentic town in the Algarve. You will find numerous cafes and restaurants offering an abundance of locally caught and cooked seafood fish dishes. Along the river you will also find quaint public gardens and quiet squares. In the summer Tavira has various seasonal festivals of live music, street theatre, open air cinema and food traditional craft fairs.

A car is not necessary as it is walking distance to the centre and supermarkets. However we would recommended one if you are planning to explore the Algarve and Spain.

Car rentals, bike hire and taxis can be organized from the main rental office located at the entrance of Tavira gardens.

If you are planning to hire a car it would be cheaper to book in advance on the internet with auto Europe, car-rentals, holiday autos or Hertz car hire firms.

About Fay Clarke

We have always loved travelling to Portugal and fell in love with Tavira for its rustic charm and unique qualities. Taking the boat to Tavira island beach is just one of the highlights for our friends and family. We had the opportunity to buy our first property in Tavira 2005 and have been spending time as well as renting to holiday makers.

Fay Clarke purchased this villa in 2005

Why Fay Clarke chose Tavira

The complex looked and felt very different form the others in the Algarve (no window shutters on the properties) and a good proportion of the indigenous people lived on the complex. The gardens were beautifully kept and the people were very friendly. Good quality restaurant on site and a supermarket for all your needs just 5 minutes walk. The beautiful Tavira town centre is just 15 minutes walk. Perfect!

What makes this villa unique

Lush gardens

Easy access to all amenities

Minutes walk to the town centre

Attractive Moorish style buildings on the complex

Two large swimming pools

Gymnasium and tennis course on site

Lovely holiday home with good facilities close by.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely family holiday in this villa which is just yards from two pools and a pool-side cafe. We were pleased that the villa didn't have its own pool, as we had a 2 year old with us to supervise.

When we arrived the villa was spotlessly clean and afforded very generous accommodation. The back yard was all paved with plenty of

room to play ball with the children, sit and relax, or barbecue.

The WiFi worked very well as did the air-conditioning and water heating.

We were advised not to walk in to Tavira pushing a buggy as the road

in was 'very dangerous' so we took taxis in and out of the town. Each journey cost around 5.50 euros. The town is lovely with easy access to

the super beach by ferry. The 20 minute boat ride was an interesting journey costing only 2 euros return!

As you enter the beach area you pass between two restaurants. Keep going because just around the corner there are many more! Hire a beach umbrella because the breeze is very deceptive. You think you're cool whilst being burnt.

In Tavira we took the land train. Not for the faint-hearted or those with a weak bladder! A considerable amount of the tour was over the cobbles

and a real bone-shaker!

The owner was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. We would thoroughly recommend this property and location.

Me and my family, elderly parents, brother and sister in law, had a fantastic holiday. The property fully met our needs and was beyond our expetitions. The property itself was a luxury home from home and the location was an easy walk to Taverna town centre where there was plenty of choice as regards dining.

As my parents are in their late eighties and early nineties they enjoyed pottering around the resort and taking in the sunshine rays in the spacious patio/garden. I would definitely recommend the property to friendsee and am already in the process of booking again for next spring. Fayann was very easy to contact and allayed all our fears. I cannot recommend the property highly enough😃☺🤗

Well appointed villa in peaceful complex

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from a wonderful holiday at this villa on the outskirts of Tariva.

A beautifully appointed semi detached property in a modern Portuguese style, situated within the well kept and peaceful Tariva Gardens complex.

Plenty of room for the 8 of us (7 adults) both inside and out (+ BBQ area, sun lounges in tastefully flagged back garden). Great air con in all the main bedrooms / reception room which was very welcome with the 34-39 degree heat at the time. Lovely spacious balconies to all first floor bedrooms, great for sitting out in the evenings with a glass of wine. Although this property doesn’t have its own swimming pool, the Tarvia Gardens communal pools are literately a 2 sec walk across the road from the villa. These two pools (one children’s) are of good size and never got over crowded, with the amenity of a bar/restaurant on hand for ice lollies and drinks.

Food shops really couldn’t be closer, with a mid sized super market a short 10 min walk away, plus a modern shopping mail approx 15 min walk, including a big supermarket and cinema complex.

Tavira is a manageable 20-25 min walk from Tarvia Gardens (slightly down hill). We tended to catch a taxi back which was well worth it for the mere 5 euros it cost. The centre of Tavira itself is a beautiful old Portuguese fishing settlement based both sides an estuary. Plenty of good restaurants hidden down quaint single track or pedestrian streets, amongst old Portuguese town houses with plenty of character (no major restaurant chains here!). Although it technically doesn’t have a beach, the popular Island of Tavira (with huge long sandy beach) lies at the end of this estuary, accessible via a cheap return ferry from the heart of Tavira, leaving every half hour throughout the day.

Although we didn’t hire a car, there are other good beaches we visited in taxis near by (again not expensive) and even the Spanish border.

The property owner Fay was also very helpful, informative and accommodating with any questions we had prior to this holiday.

Overall it you are looking for a family holiday in a more traditional area of the Algarve, in a good sized, comfortable and value for money villa, something a little different to the more commercial areas of this region, with fantastically long spacious beaches and a novel way of getting there, you can’t go wrong with this apartment in Tavira!
