Villa in Grand Village Plage - 10 Minute Cycle to 10km long Sandy Beach

Pine Villa was renovated and extended so that it can accommodate 2 families or a group of friends in real comfort. Its cul-de-sac location means it is safe and quiet but also ideally placed for venturing to the beach and into the forest. With both large dining room and lounge as well as 2 terraces it never feels cramped even when fully occupied. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped and there are plenty of toilets and shower facilities.

Notes on accommodation: The (fenced/gated) garden is a mix of modern and mature and is suitable for younger children. Outside: Good sized garden with one large terrace at the rear (with hammock, BBQ and feature Italian stone table) and smaller terrace at side serving master bedroom. Hose near front door to rinse off sandy feet and carousel to dry clothes. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron. Cool boxes and drinks dispenser and ice blocks. Children's beach toys. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen is provided but guests are asked to bring their own towels and beach towels. Other: Dining room (4.6m x 4.7m) holds dining table seating up to 12, sideboard with radio. Range of family board games also available.

très bon séjour à Oléron dans une grande maison chaleureuse

nous avons passé le week-end de l'Ascension dans cette grande maison très agréable, particulièrement la salle à manger qui donne sur le jardin/terrasse et sur une belle cuisine.

le salon est séparé ce qui est pratique quand les enfants veulent regarder la TV et que vous êtes en train de discuter

3 salles de bain ce qui permet à chacun de garder son intimité

possibilité d'aller à pied au centre commercial (5 min)

une très belle plage à 10 min à pied.

Grande maison, lumineuse et spacieuse. Proche de la mer, bien placée. Petit bémol sur le jardin moyennement entretenu, l'eau tiède dans la baignoire, un radiateur qui coulait.

Car: recommended


The nearest beach is a 20 min walk/10 min cycle or 2 min drive away. There is also a 'train' from the end of the road to the beach. This is a surfers playground with great waves and plenty of space (12km long). There are beaches galore on the Island, reachable by car or bicycle, on either the open west coast or sheltered east side.


La Rochelle airport is just 55 mins drive away and Bordeaux airport is approx 2 hours. The nearest ferry port is St Malo (4½ hours).


Grand Village Plage centre is less than 10 mins walk and there is a footpath starting near the house. St Trojan is a 15 min cycle (5 min drive) and Le Chateau is a 25 min cycle (much along a dedicated cycle path) and 10 min drive.

Further Details:

A very adequate (Super U) supermarket is found in the middle of Grand Village where there is also a cash point machine, tourist office, bike hire and other shops and several restaurants. There is a fine restaurant in Petit Village (5 mins walk) where there is also a weekly produce market. Le Chateau has a daily produce market and a weekly general market. There is a surf school on the nearby beach and opportunities to play golf, horse ride, sail and fish elsewhere. If you have never tried oysters, here is the place to do so (cheap and wonderful), washed down with the local Pineau wine. Rochefort, La Rochelle and royan are all nearby.
