Country Cottage with Private Pool and Garden, Free WiFi Connection

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
Cottage in Caubon St. Sauveur, Nr. Duras, Magnificent Rural Views and Beautiful Garden

Chante Merle is a rural farmhouse recently refurbished with all today’s comforts. Its style mixes the rustic charm of wooden beams and a wood burning fire, with a clean modern décor. The house and swimming pool are private and secluded set within its own substantial mature garden. Yet being on the edge of a small village means it’s not remote. The aspect of the house and pool look out over beautiful rolling countryside and commands a spectacular view. The house is very spacious and can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people in a family party. All bedrooms are on ground level making easy access possible for those not so mobile. All shops and facilities are just a short drive away. Free Broadband WiFi Connection.

About the Owner

We bought this property in the French countryside in 2003 as a couple. Now with two small boys we appreciate our holidays here even more. It make the perfect family holiday home with a great pool and beautiful mature gardens. Its spacious fluid layout means the living is easy. Whenever there is a chance, we retreat to this idyllic place to enjoy the sun, the food our friends we have made here and of course the local wines. Originally an old farmhouse the building was first "modernised" 20 years ago but we have revamped the whole property and continue to improve it with a new project each year.

Perfect family getaway in a charming rural idyll

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a fabulous week in this truly lovely cottage. I've stayed in many "holiday homes" over the years but Chante Merle felt like a proper family home, not a holiday let. The spacious garden with its magnificent mature trees and shrubs gave welcome shade for our youngest holiday maker (Ollie, 9 months) and was great for garden games and hide and seek for the older children (Brodie, 6 and Mya, 3). They had huge fun chasing the little lizards, bird spotting and even saw a french dormouse! The pool was fantastic fun for everyone and the scent from the lavender and rose bushes was incredible. The owner had provided everything that we could possibly need and more, including information on local markets, shops and attractions which was really helpful.

The only downside to our stay as that we only booked one week - we won't make that mistake next time! And we all agree that there has to be a next time!

From the Owner

As well as enjoying the glorious sunshine typical of the south of France, the surrounding countryside is green and rolling and very interesting to observe or travel through. The people here are warm friendly and helpful. The mature garden changes month by month and never fails to surprise.

From the Owner

The house, garden and pool are private, quiet and secluded yet you are just a moments drive away from the hustle and bustle of a popular bastide town or local shops, hospital or other amenities. Great views over the valley from the peace and quiet of the garden.
