About the property

Holiday Villa with Pool in Arillas, Corfu - Peaceful Location, Close to Amenities, 1500m to the Beach

Helios Court Villa is a modern build in a style that pays tribute to the classical Venetian heritage in the architecture of Corfu. Sitting comfortably in its private surroundings the villa provides beautifully appointed 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, luxurious, spacious and thoughtfully laid out accommodation with numerous areas to bring you together to socialise or that allow you to find a quite space away even from those we love most.

The tranquil location enjoys views to mountains, sea and the most fabulous sunsets that this part of Corfu is famous for. Features include full air conditioning, optionally heated pool, Broadband & WiFi coverage throughout, a well-appointed kitchen, gas bar-be-que, indoor and outdoor dining areas, 2 flat screen TV areas with a range of English language programmes, BlueRay and DVD players, stereo with CD, iPod and phono' jack.

Our elegant villa is situated in a quiet residential area within 500m of markets and tavernas and only 1500m from the gently shelving sands of Arillas beach and its Blue Flag, warm, shallow, protected waters and also close to several more of the best beaches on the Island. Arillas is a peaceful family resort with a great choice of places to eat and drink rather than somewhere to party the night away. On a two week stay you could easily eat at a different place every night. We are yet to have a bad meal. Greek food is a vastly underestimated delight.

Our Villa has the most fabulous outdoor space surrounding the 8m x 4m main pool plus half moon shaped paddling pool that can all be optionally heated to suit you in the cooler months (add £25 per day). The deep end of the pool still allows the playing of volley ball which we greatly enjoy. The quiet and private pool terrace is a gated and walled suntrap, protected from wind. There is a shaded pergola covering a sofa and armchairs around a drinks table. Two 4m Parasols give optional shade to the 6 sunbeds.

The shallow half-moon paddling pool can be optionally separated from the main pool area for the safety of children.

The Veranda facing the pool terrace provides ample outdoor dining space for six and can extend for drop in friends, there is a large gas fired bar-b-que. (gas is provided)

Under the other covered veranda at the front of the house is a little table and chairs ideal for morning coffee or reading in the afternoon shade whilst listening to the Cicadas.

Upstairs on the sun terrace is a large circular sofa set where we enjoy gathering to enjoy the magnificent sunsets over sundowners. There is a large parasol here too and the sofa set is designed to be easily pushed together as a double sunbed for a further sunbathing area.

Helios Court provides ample parking for numerous cars.

The 3 bedrooms are arranged as a romantic Kingsize Master Suite with its ensuite shower room and 2 spacious twin bedded bedrooms. Each room has a capacious wardrobe and cavernous chest of drawers. There is a combination safe and a Hairdryer is provided in the master suite.

The two twin bedrooms share a large family bathroom with both a shower cubical and bath.

Optionally a cot can be provided and will fit in any of the bedrooms for our smallest visitors.

The Great Room

At the heart of our villa is a large family space that provides ample indoor dining, a well equipped kitchen and a small seating area served with satellite TV and a DVD player allowing supervision of your small guests while preparing food. Satellite TV here covers a number of children's favourite channels, news and Sky Sports for those "can't miss" events.

Our compact kitchen holds a surprising amount of modern equipment. This includes a gas cooker, with oven, a large fridge freezer, microwave, 4 slice toaster, kettle, cafetiere, blender, juicer etc. There are ample cooking pots and serving dishes as well as table and glass wear. With time and such fresh ingredients you might be tempted to prepare something extraordinary!

We provide a welcome pack for your arrival of basic provisions but please let us know if you would like us to provide more extensive shopping on your behalf or indeed if you would like to be catered for during your stay on a particular evening or longer period.

Upstairs "Chill Out" Sitting Room

The luxurious, light-filled, sitting room upstairs is separate enough from the downstairs as to not disturb the bedrooms. Comfortable sofas are arranged around a large table, ideal for playing the range of games stored with a surprising number of books for you to enjoy in the book case.

Here you will find a CD stereo with an iPod Dock and Phono Jack to allow most media players to pipe your choice of music. There is a 50" LCD Flatscreen TV upstairs with a Blueray Player. The TV channels popular English language series and movies via our Netflix account.

Please feel free to bring CD's, DVD's or Bluerays to suit you.

Childrens Facilities

We can upon request provide separation of the main pool area from the shallow half-moon paddling pool. Care should of course be exercised but this gave us comfort with toddlers. We can also provide stairgates, a baby changing mat, high chair, hand held blender, baby listener and even a baby sitter! All the trarraces are high enough to contain a child and the columns are spaced for safety.

We found most villas fairly fraught with dangers for young families and designed ours with the lessons learned from years of such holidays and with the owners’ experience as a qualified child care professional.

In the square near the villa is a small childrens playground.

We provide both Bathroom and Pool towels which are changed midweek. Please bring beach towels should you wish to us them.

Cot bedding

We do not provide baby linen for hygiene reasons.

There is a parking space by the gate to the pool terrace allowing paved access directly to the pool area. We have a ramp available to allow access to the dining veranda. This has been used to park a mobility scooter in the past. Only a small lip separates the veranda from the downstairs of the villa which is sized to accommodate a wheel chair. The Master Suites' shower is lipless and will facilitate access. Please inform us though if you require a shower chair. The toilet facilities do not however have grab handles etc. The road down to the beach can be negotiated by wheel chair but thought should be given to pushing a wheelchair back uphill to Helios Court. Successful holidays have been enjoyed by both rather elderly and visitors with limited mobility.

Car Hire

We recommend Arillas Car Hire should you feel you need a car for your stay.

We regularly don't hire a car for our trips but we are a family that enjoys walking and our children are of an age where they don't need to be carried any more. The main beach is only 1500m (under a mile away) but if you have elderly relatives, toddlers in pushchairs etc. then you might want to consider this option. Car hire is available quite reasonably on a day rate basis in Arillas as are dune buggies, quadbikes, bicycles, etc. to suit all pockets.

Be aware there is quite a steep slope for 100 Metres of the 1500m walk.

Helios Court Villa is a strictly non-smoking accommodation.

Stag and Hen groups

No. Never. Arillas isn’t that kind of place.

Corfu is the Green Gem of the Ionian Islands in the turquois of the Greek Mediterranean. The Island itself was made famous by the books of Gerald Durrell with readers falling in love with its climate, wildlife and the quirky warmth of its widely English speaking people. Over 100,000 Britons visit Corfu each summer and it is served directly by BA from Heathrow, Easyjet and Ryanair. Arillas is a peaceful village by the sea in the North West of Corfu about 40 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Corfu Town and its international airport.

The village has proven most resistant to change over the years and most of its tavernas, restaurants and small hotels are family owned and operated and passed through generations. Arillas has largely avoided the financial calamities of other parts of Greece in recent years. There is a cash machine in the village we have never known to be empty.

The long beach is narrow and gently shelving which makes it ideal for families. Although nudism is strictly illegal in Greece it is tolerated at the very northern end of the beach past he headland, due to a long history of naturalist, yoga, meditation centres in the area. There is certainly something very spiritual about this part of the world. You will bump into many tourists who have been coming to Arillas every year for decades and really can’t put their finger on why. The warmth, honesty and genuine hospitality of the people is unique in our experience of global travel.

Arillas has a couple of bars and numerous restaurants and tavernas but it is nothing like the tourist hot spots of Sidari (only 6km away) or the more developed resort of St Stefanos which is still within a walk of our villa.

We chose to make our second home in Arillas and we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

About Mrs A Connelly

We are a family who frankly spends too much time at work. We run a business we started in the Uk that is both very demanding and time consuming. We travel a lot and spend too much time apart.

We decided that we wanted to build a Villa that fitted our needs as a young family in a peaceful place where we could reconnect and heal the damage of a stressful lifestyle.

Corfu is a beautiful green oasis in the med. Arillas is a very spiritual place graced with terrific natural beauty and a warm and loving people. Culturally we felt very at home here.

Mrs A Connelly purchased this villa in 2006

Why Mrs A Connelly chose Greece

The design was inspired from the best of accommodation we have enjoyed in our global wanderings. Designed by ourselves and project managed by our friends and neighbours who still manage the property and will attend your needs during your stay/

What makes this villa unique

The pool is we think the only one heated on Corfu.

The design of the villa is very family friendly. The facilities for small children excellent. If the kid are taken care of the adults can finally relax.

A Little Slice of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Arillas is such a wonderful place for a nice and relaxing holiday and this villa was the perfect place for me and my family. It is peaceful and secluded while also being very close to a number of shops, restaurants and Arillas beach.

The villa is well set up and the owners have ensured that every little thing is taken care of from a well stocked games room to bread, honey, tea bags, coffee and other cooking essentials waiting for you when you arrive.

The housekeeper is very friendly and happy to help in any way she can and there is a very helpful folder with maps of the local area and full of ideas and contact details for activities.

Would love to go back to this little slice of paradise.

" Arillas is a beautiful location to spend a holiday. Helios Court is an outstanding property equipped and furnished to a very high standard. It's situation just out of the village offers peace and tranquility. Everything you could possibly need to enable you to enjoy your holiday has been provided. Thoughtful attention to detail by the owners is evident from helpful information booklets to enable you make the most of the local attractions and places to eat, recommendations for car hire even ice lolly makers in the freezer! Friendly site manager is available during your stay which provides reassurance of help at any time should you need it. The pool and patio area are a great place to relax with the bonus of another terrace for sunset watching. My husband and I have just come back from a blissful week and can't recommend it highly enough. Couples and families will enjoy staying in this beautiful villa. The visitor book shows many return time and time again having experienced happy stress free holidays."

Fantastic villa, great location, friendly village.

  • 5 of 5

Two weeks of superbly relaxing bliss! This really is a lovely villa set on the hillside above Arillas with great views and stunning sunsets. The villa is well maintained, with comfortable beds and plenty of storage. The bathrooms are well equipped and spacious. The compact kitchen has everything you need including some UK equipment you would not expect to find in a villa on Corfu! The pool and terrace are spacious and well equipped with comfy sunbeds and a shady pergola - many hours were spent just relaxing by the pool in sun and shade. Evening cocktails on the first floor balcony gave great views of the sun setting over the sea. The village has plenty of bars, restaurants and tavernas to choose from and by following the guidance notes we never had a bad meal. We never did hire a car as we enjoyed our ambles back up the hill at the end of the evening. Both the UK and Corfu contacts were incredibly helpful, accommodating and approachable. We rarely go back to places but I would definitely return to this one and would not hesitate to recommend.

Lovely villa in Corfu

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing holiday at this villa in Corfu. It is set a bit back from the small village of Arillas and we found our car hire very useful, although it would not be essential. The villa is spacious and maintained to a high standard and the pool area is as inviting as it looks. We travelled as a family with 2 sons, 20 and 12. Arillas has enough to offer, if you just want to relax and there are a good selection of taverna's and hotels to visit nearby. The guestbook in the villa has many food/establishment reviews and local recommendations. If you feel like renting a car, Theo at Arillas Car Hire provided ours at a very reasonable price. There are a number of small local supermarkets and a nearby bakery to which our boys insisted on a daily visit for afternoon cream cakes and doughnuts! The villa is comfortable and the bedrooms are all on ground floor level. The listing accurately describes the facilities and layout. The air conditioning worked effectively to provide relief from almost 40 degree temperatures during our first week, and the poolside umbrellas and pergola offer some shade around the pool. We used the terrace and the BBQ during our stay but ate out most of the time. The villa we thought, was in an excellent location. We booked a taxi on a couple of occasions to Sidari to visit some family friends; it was only 16 Euros so if you wanted to visit the nightlife over there, it is very reasonably priced and only a 15 minute journey. We drove down to Aqualand which is well worth a visit especially for those with older children (Saturdays are much quieter due to fewef coach parties) . Overall the communications with the owner in the UK were very straightforward, customer service was excellent both here, and from the villa manager in Arillas, who was always reachable with any queries. I would have no hesitation in booking again and taking or recommending other family members or friends to visit.

Lovely Greek Villa

  • 4 of 5

Helios Court is a lovely villa with an amazing pool that sits beside a pretty pergola. It is in a good location (car probably needed) between Arillas and San Stefanos, so ideally located for the two. We had two six year old’s with us and they adored the pool. There are lots of shaded areas to read and enjoy a meal and we used a local lady called Dawn to deliver food to the villa on at least five evenings. Her food is amazing and the portion sizes are huge, it was so lovely to do this on the days when we merely wanted to sit on the veranda of the villa and completely chill out. Sky TV was available along with full wifi which was a real bonus to both adults and children; this really is a home from home.

The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was very welcome when we experienced a heat wave. The kitchen was very well equipped and there is a small lounge on the first floor that has lots of books and board games. We didn’t use this lounge but we did eat on the upper terrace so that we could enjoy the glorious sunset.

The bathrooms are nicely furnished as is the entire property and we had a truly wonderful holiday, we didn’t want to come home. We would definitely stay here again.

Helios Court Villa

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful villa, both Peter and I had one of the best holidays ever. Helios Court is the most tranquil private villa and we would recommend it to everyone. The pool and the villa is extremely safe for children of any age. It is superbly furnished with everything of very high standard, also exceptionally clean and maintained. Villa manager is there for you with any requests or help if needed. Maxine even supplied all our meat for a family barbecue held one evening so so helpful and kind. Highly recommend Helios Court to both couples and families. Thank you again.

You can walk to the beautiful beach at Arillas in under 15 minutes (1500m - under a mile away). It is a pleasant adventure and not to challenging to walk over the headland to the more built up resort of San Stephanos. More serious walkers can venture an hours walk to the sweeping curve of San George beach, maybe choosing to get the water taxi back. All beaches are blue flag and have excellent facilities. All are gently shelving, sandy and very safe for children.

The Airport at Corfu town is 40 minutes drive away. We are able to book you a taxi for Euros 55, A Minibus is Euros 85 that will be waiting for you nomatter the time of your arrival. We also can arrange car hire from regular contacts, again meeting you at the airport. Let us know what you require! You do not need car hire to get around Arillas you might like one to explore the rest of the beautiful Island of Corfu.
