Charming Portuguese-style villa. Double patio doors open from the living room onto the covered terrace with its wooden patio table where you can eat breakfast or lunch and gaze out to the hills beyond. Move round to the tiled BBQ area in the evening enjoy looking up at starry skies. A villa private pool (approx 6 by 4 metres)and large gardens that are private and not overlooked, it is the ideal holiday retreat.. An adjustable, sturdy extend-able child-safety gate can be erected on request and means that you can create a safe play area on the front terrace. Some guests are so content that they spend the whole holiday there! Yet only 10 mins drive away are the fabulous unspoilt beaches of the Ilha da Tavira, reached by a 5 mins ferry ride through the waters of the Rio do Formosa wildlife reserve. Tavira has many restaurants, cafes, bars, supermarkets and shops. Families with children, walkers, golfers and nature lovers will love it..

Idyllic Casa in a quiet location

Booked at very short notice however absolutely perfect find. A gorgeous Casa in a quiet and peaceful location in lovely Portuguese countryside. On arrival the agent was very helpful and welcoming and the Casa was as described but also much better. Very clean and spacious, very cooling and refreshing pool and the facilities provided were fine, the surrounding area is gorgeous, Tavira itself is a typical Portuguese Town but without the multiple tourists of other areas of he Algarve. The Nature Reserve is amazing with many islands that are well worth driving to different locations to catch a beach ferry. I suppose the best comment I can make is that I would happily return here.

If I would pass any slightly negative comments it could have benefitted from WiFi for my Boys!!! and the BBQ hadn't been cleaned for so long my wife refused to use it...but we used the kitchen anyway.

Nearest Airport : Faro at 80 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Sta Estavao at 3 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Cabanas at 8 Kilometres Nearest Train : Tavira at 5 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : E01 (A22) at 3 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Sta Estavao at 3 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Isla da Tavira at 5 Kilometres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

10 minutes drive to long sandy unspoilt beaches with pleasant cafes/sun loungers and support facilities on Ilha da Tavira, reached by a 5 mins ferry ride or by land train.

10 minutes drive to the Rio Formosa wildlife reserve.

Travel:

Faro airport is a 40 minute easy drive from the villa.

Car hire is recommended but for a car-free holiday taxis are not expensive and Tavira is on the main railway line from Faro. Walking distance to occasional bus to Tavira. Free use of bicycles from the villa on request.

All parts of the Algarve are reachable for day trips.

Distances:

Santo Estavao - very small but well stocked supermarket, cafe bars, post office, church: 3km. Luz de Tavira - traditional houses, 16th century church: 5km. Tavira - the most elegant town on the Algarve: 8 km. Waterfall - "Pego do Inferno": 3 km.

Further Details:

Tavira has a shopping mall "Gran Plaza" with cinema complex, free WiFi internet access area, cafes, restaurants, supermarket "Continente" and shops.

Tavira also has supermarkets, many restaurants and cafes and all town amenities. Windsurfing/surfing/fishing/riverboat trips - details from Tavira tourist office. The area is renowned for its lovely walks and many churches. Guide books available in villa plus organised walks advertised in local tourist paper.

Colourful local markets in Loule, Tavira etc. 25 minutes drive to Spain. Seville, Spain reachable for a cultural day out.
