The quality of the beaches of Armacao de Pera, a 10 minute walk away, have made Armacao a favourite holiday spot of the Portuguese. So enjoy promenading with families along the sea front on a warm summer's evening or dine out in one of the many fine restaurants. The town being famous for its fish landed daily on the beaches and regional dishes such as Piri Piri chicken.

About the Owner

Born 1950's a Chartered Accountant with schoolteacher wife and three children at university and six form college. I worked in my own property/construction business until it was sold in early 2000. I was born and now settled back on the English/Welsh border after having worked in London in the 80's.

We stayed in the hotel Quinta do Lago in 2000. We found the Portuguese people to be the most pleasant people we had come across in our travels. The Algarve is a region of stunning scenery, beautiful beaches and wonderful food and drink. We wanted to look for a property in the Algarve as a holiday home and maybe a climate to retire to later on. We looked at a number of houses and locations before seeing Ponderosa. It has been my life's business to seek out desirable properties and location. This house was a must buy as soon as I saw it. A beautiful house and gardens , private and secluded, yet within a short distance of the beaches and of a town which has the feel and culture of a working Portuguese fishing village and holiday resort used by the Portuguese people themselves.

10 min walk to the Vale do Olival beach from the villa. This forms a part of the uninterrupted beach between Armacao and Gale, a 2 hour walk along sandy beaches bounded in part by a marshland wildlife nature reserve and bird sanctuary.


The villa is just a 45 mins drive along the N22 from Faro airport using car hire or taxi. Car hire is recommended for convenience sake whilst at the villa, although numerous taxi services in Armacao can be used in preference to the 10 mins walk into Armacao.

Further Details:

Armacao is a very special summer town for the Portuguese from the north and Lisbon. With one of the Algarve's longest most glorious sandy beaches with many tiny fish restaurants it became one of the most popular summer destinations. Small boats still pull up each morning on 'Fisherman's beach' with the old town behind having many pavement cafes, shops and restaurants. In the new town there are numerous supermarkets, banks etc to cater for the tourist's needs.

The house is a family holiday home. It is furnished for our taste not the bare essentials required for holiday letting. The house keeper, maid, gardener and pool attendant are there to ensure the house is kept looking nice for the visitors but know the most important thing the house does is to let people relax and wind down

Property cleaned three times a week, linen changed weekly. Other: Extensive first floor veranda with access through 3 double glass doors from lounge and double glass door from bedroom 1.
