About the Owner

Hi, we are James (Jim) and Julie.

Having visited the Bedar and Mojacar areas for many years, we longed for a time when we could find a place to call our own.

In 1998, with the help of a friend who lives in Bedar, we found our perfect plot of land and began the process of making our dreams come true.

Our dreams were: of a villa built in the typical Andalucian style, in a private, peaceful, rural setting with views which could never be spoilt and that we would never tire of or take for granted.

After many trials and tribulations we were the first to build in our area on the outskirts of Bedar village and completed in the year 2000.

All these years later when life gets a little hectic, we long to sit in the peace and quiet and appreciate those views we have never tired of.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay in your villa. It was well appointed and had everything we needed for our stay - such peace and quiet, perfect and suited our expectations. We loved the village of Bedar, the tapas and the welcoming people.

Our sixth visit to this haven of tranquillity! A peaceful setting with all amenities provided. Fantastic friendly atmosphere in the local bars and restaurants. The children voted to stay at the villa rather than go to the beach and can't wait to be back next year.

My wife and I both agreed that this was our perfect honeymoon location.

Being a family of 'walkers' and 'golfers', we decided to learn more about the area by joining the local rambling group and was lovely to return to the villa to re-charge our batteries for the next day. Have left Villa Serrania hoping for more at a later date.

A wonderful, peaceful holiday in a stunning location with fantastic views. The villa was perfect in every way, clean, bright and well equipped.

Good property with open airy living space. Pool small but very good in the heat. Amazing views towards the sea and Mojaca as well as the mountains.

A blissful spot.

  • 5 of 5

We have been spending August in the village of Bedar, Andalucia for 15 years. This summer we rented for the first time Villa Serrania, a simple single storey villa that stands on it own small hill just 5 minutes drive and an easy 15 minute walk from the village of Bedar. The villa is clean, bright, well appointed and comfortable and boasts 360 degree views of the local campo, the mountains the plain below and the sea to the east. There are sheltered seated spots all around the villa that can afford shade at any time of the day. The pool is dinky but gorgeous and it is cleaned and maintained twice a week. If you are in to bird watching then you will love peering out from the terrace of the villa. We saw swallows, many bee eaters, a golden oriole, two types of game bird and an eagle to name but a few.

There is excellent Wi-Fi internet to help with holiday plans or, if like me, you need to keep in touch with work at home.

It is perfect for a long stay and quickly becomes home from home. We hope to return to the Villa Serrania in the future and we would highly recommend it.

Fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely two week stay at Villa Serania, the villa is very well maintained and we wanted for nothing.

We had wall to wall sunshine and were glad of the pool, the resident tortoise popped by to say hello.

The best view from the shower I have ever experienced & the small village of Bedar has a bakery open most days with the most delicous fresh bread & pastries. regular fresh fish is available most days. ( i am sure it is caught the same morning.)

A really enjoyable holiday, a different experience for us as we normally stay in hotels, we enjoyed the freedom and peace and quiet the villa offers and will be looking to do this again in the not too distant future.

Thank You Julie & James

We would highly recommend this villa. It's location for us was perfect. Situated in an elevated position with outstanding views all around and close enough to a quiet friendly village with it's superb restaurants. Inside the villa it is very clean and comfortable with views from every room. The owners Julie and James are very welcoming and helpful. Thank you both for a wonderful holiday. Steve and Lisa.

Peaceful location, home from home

  • 5 of 5

My father & I enjoyed a relaxing week at this villa. We found it had everything we needed and was very comfortable, including the beds. Unfortunately we managed to lock ourselves out resulting in some some slight damage in order to get back in, the owners were very understanding about this. The TV channels are limited but we expected nothing less in Spain and it has nothing to do with the facilities provided at the villa.

We built our home on this plot mainly as its position would provide all year round sunshine. It is private and secluded without being too remote or too isolated. The village offers everything we are likely to need on our visits with a good variety of shops, bars and restaurants and very friendly locals who are welcoming and helpful.

From the Owner

The peace and tranquillity of the area is so restful and therapeutic. The views from all windows and terraces either towards the sea or to the mountains are breathtaking. Each aspect and view is different. To be able to sit and watch the sun rise from one terrace and watch it set from another is spectacular. To relax around the pool area or sit on the steps in the pool with a good book to read is especially relaxing.
