La Colina is a large south facing villa designed with comfort and style in mind. Within easy reach of historic Begur and the beautiful coastal resort of Tamariu with a promenade, waterside restaurants and shops. Other beaches close by are Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Aiguablava and Sa Riera. La Colina is on two levels in modern design and furnished to a very good standard with contemporary and traditional furnishings. Spacious open plan living opens to a large terrace with panoramic views and easy access to the pool area. The rear garden with BBQ and seating is a wonderful spot away from the house and pool to relax and enjoy the views with absolute peace. With five bedrooms and four bathrooms La Colina provides very good accommodation for two families. The upper level has living area, three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite). The ground floor is approached by separate entrance, with two bedrooms (both with dressing and shower room en-suite). A fantastic holiday villa.

About the Owner

I have been involved with property for as long as I can remember and when we first visited Begur in we thought it a wonderful region and decided to buy a holiday home, Casa Alfora.

We rented it out through a local agent the first year (2001). After that I decided to rent it out myself and since then we have built two more houses and purchased another in Begur all of which are on this site. Gradually I built up a business and we now have our own website featuring property in Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal.

Poros Island, Greece is a favourite destination of ours where we have a house overlooking the harbour and on the mainland, both with amazing views and both of which are featured on this website.

Now we have added our lovely Padstow cottage to this site. We hope you like it!

We built this house in 2006 and it was hard to imagine the kind of views that would appear from the outset as it was completely wooded. Slowly emerged this wonderful holiday home which although bought as a pure investment for rental, has become our favourite house in Spain. We love the location with its far reaching views over the vine fields to the sea with the mountains between and there is a real sense of peace, waking up to this magical view. At the back of the house we created an additional garden area where you can get away from everything. Good for a large group who want to be able to have space from each other at times! The nearest beach is Tamariu - we found a short cut and can be on the beach in 7 mins from the house. Begur is 3 mins by car so not much forward planning neede

7 minutes drive to the sandy bay at Tamariu and other beaches at Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Aiguablava, all with waterside restaurants and shops. Sa Riera is a little further with its pretty village and deep sandy beach.

This is the unspoilt Costa Brava or Catalunya which is free from large Tour Operated holidays and where most of the properties are owned by Barcelonians. It is rarely overcrowded and has retained real Spanish charm without a souvenir shop in sight!


Girona airport 45 mins drive (approx). Barcelona 1.5 hrs drive (approx). Calais 12 hrs drive (approx). The nearest supermarket and restaurant is approximately 600m while historic BEGUR is just 1km with an outstanding choice of restaurants, bars, cafes and individual shops. A truly wonderful location with all amenities, coastal resorts and inland medieval towns within 5-20 mins by car.


Begur approx. 1km. A charming hillside town with shortcut walk 15mins. Nearest shop/restaurant- 800m approx. Calella de Palafrugel and Llafranc 10-15 mins pretty seaside resorts with good beaches, restaurants etc. Peratallada - medieval moated village 20 mins. Girona cultural city called 'Mini Barcelona' 45 mins. La Bisbal famous for ceramics 15 mins. Figueres - home of Salvador Dali 1 hour. Barcelona a vibrant and exciting city - according to recent reports more popular than Paris! 1.5hrs.

Further Details:

Begur - Charming historic hillside town with a castle at its peak. Cobbled streets and squares plus excellent choice of Catalan restaurants, tapas bars and shops.The main square has entertainment in the high season and several late night cellar bars and a couple of discos. The overall atmosphere is very Spanish with local artists' paintings and crafts displayed in the square during the summer. Every Wednesday there is a market selling fruit/veg clothes and accessories. There are excellent supermarkets, specialist fishmonger, butchers' shops and freshly baked bread available in many shops. This is an area you will want to return to again and again. Every day there will be a different place of interest to visit, be it a cultural pursuit or another sundrenched sandy cove with clear water to while away the day. All the coastal resorts here have waterfront restuarants, cafes and shops and it is a real pleasure to wander the little streets around the front and enjoy the spectacular scenery that this rugged coastline offers. Development here is mainly villas as the terrain does not allow for large apartment blocks and the coastline remains intact with some wonderful coastal path walks. There are many places of interest including Salvador Dali's castle at Pubol and his amazing museum at Figueres, where you cannot fail to be drawn in by his diverse art. At La Bisbal the streets are littered with ceramic shops and there is also an antique centre. Girona is a wonderful small city to visit, known as mini-Barcelona, with its own charming ramblas and interesting shops and pavement restaurants. Barcelona, if you crave city life, is one hour by train from FLACA (20mins by car from Begur) and here you can leave your car and get right into the centre of Barcelona by train. The border of France is approximately one hour away but you will find all you need and more in this beautiful and charming unspoilt region of Spain, Costa Brava, Catalunya.

From the Owner

We spend time mainly out of season at La Colina and as both of us work full time we had internet installed which means we can both be at our laptops at the same time. Also we took our skyplus box out there (don't tell sky) and this is a bonus in the winter months when you want a bit of what you might be missing at home!! We love the modernity of the house and the built in conveniences such as aircon. When just the two of us are there we are only using the upper part of the house and it feels like a penthouse; so convenient with everything on one level and stupendous views. La Colina is south facing and you can watch the setting sun from the large terrace. This peaceful location provides a perfect relaxation spot for us.

  • Notes on accommodation: La Colina is available all year with air-conditioning and a wood burning stove for those winter months! All the facilities you would expect in a home-from-home including high speed internet and English TV channels (SKY plus). The situation is elevated giving amazing panoramic sea and country views. Three of the bedrooms and the living area have direct access to the pool area. The upper, main part of the house has 3 bedrooms, double and 2 twins, 2 bathrooms, living area, kitchen and utility room. The south facing terrace off the living room has electric awnings which retract in high wind. The lower part of the house by separate access has 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin and 2 shower rooms both en-suite with dressing areas. An extra folding bed for an 11th person can be provided if required. The main part of the house may be rented to smaller groups in mid/low season at special rates with sole use of gardens and pool. Please ask for any special requests. Outside: La Colina is approached by a steep drive. The south facing terrace off the living room has comfortable seating and dining table with chairs to seat 10. There are electric sunblinds so that you can eat and relax in comfort. A side terrace leads to the pool (3.5 x 6.5m) with surrounding terrace, sunbeds and tables. The pool has steps into it rather than a ladder and a deep and shallow end. Both terraces can be accessed from the 3 bedrooms on the upper level. The gardens surround the house and there is a clothes drying area behind the kitchen and a storage area for children's toys. The back garden can be approached by steps from poolside and kitchen side of the house and has a lawn and many shrubs and trees giving natural shade. This is a very peaceful area away from the house and pool with panoramic sea and country views; most relaxing. A built in BBQ with eating and sitting area plus a swing chair completes the picture. The views are truly stunning. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, water softener. Door to side terrace with additional outside drying facilities. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Included in your rental: bed linen, bathroom & pool towels, weekly clean & linen/bathroom towel change. Optional extras: beach towels, grocery delivery, home catering (paella evenings and other menus available), cot, high chair, babysitting. Other: Open plan kitchen with dishwasher and utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Hallway leads to three bedrooms and two bathrooms [one en-suite]. Separate entrance at ground level to two bedrooms each with dressing area and en-suite shower room.
