Holiday Cottage in Sant Angelo in Pontano, Le Marche - Peaceful and Beautiful Little House; Unrivalled for Charm and Tranquility.
If it's privacy and tranquility you are looking for this is the house for you. Located just outside the charming hill town of Sant' Angelo in Pontano, Le Marche, Casa Roverella is located down a little lane with fabulous views. Nestled into the wooded hillside Roverella answers the need for smaller groups, couples or honeymooners who want a tranquil and secluded location instead of an apartment or shared facility, we have restored this delightful cottage to provide comfortable accommodation in a romantic rural setting. As the last house on a quiet lane, there is no passing traffic at all. On three levels the house is set into the hillside with an oak woods behind and absolutely stunning mountain views out front. There is a breakfast terrace outside the kitchen on the lower ground floor and another terrace off the living room on the middle floor. This terrace leads to the private swimming pool which is set in a small olive grove and offers a great poolside sun trap with stunning views.

Thank you ever so much for your help in organising our Honeymoon to your cottage. The cottage was ideal for us; it was so quiet and peaceful and everything we could have wished for. The kitchen with its indoor and outdoor breakfast table was wonderful for a relaxing start to the day. We didn't use the living room, preferring to sit out on the patio under the oak tree. However the swing seat on the patio was great for siestas or romantic cuddles in the evening.
The poolside certainly is a sun trap, and we spent most days chilling in front of the fantastic view across the valleys to the Sibillini mountains.
It only got better at night, with the lack of street lighting meaning virtually black skies. The stars were fantastic.

Hot and cool
This lovely villa was more or less just as we expected from the description. The directions provided were perfect. The villa was uncluttered, attractive, clean and comfortable. It was enclosed by trees but the surrounding countryside was gorgeous. The pool fairly small but more than fine to cool off and splash around. Once we had sought out the selection of restaurants and got into the rhythm of the opening times the food almost always very good. The villa was wonderfully peaceful but great to have local bars within reach as well as beaches and mountains and historical towns.
We were looking for somewhere a little bit out of the way, for some serious relaxing time and we couldn't have a better spot. The house is small, but comfortably furnished and absolutely charming. It's literally built into the side of a hill, with upper and lower terraces for breakfast and lunch. It's not far from town, for your essentials, but it's the last house on a country lane so the chance's are you'll see nobody at all while you're there (we got so used to our own company that we had a hurried scramble to put our swimming togs on when the guy came to clean the pool ). The views of the mountains are spectacular and if you're quiet you'll see wildlife that includes deer, porcupines and eagles. (apparently wild boar also, but we didn't get to see them). The local town has 4 restaurants, 3 of which were super (we didn't try them all), plus 3 coffee bars and small supermarket. You don't even have to leave the village if you don't want to. When we weren't sunning by the pool and reading our books, we went driving around the local hilltowns, comparing bars, icecreams and restaurants. This whole place is picture postcard beautiful, it's like stepping back in time. You will need your phrasebook, there's not a lot of English spoken, but the locals were brilliant in translating our garbled Italian and were extremely patient and kind. There aren't many tourists in this part of Italy, and it felt like they were proud to show off their region. For daytrips there are activities in the Sibillini mountain park nature reserve (which we didn't do) and trips to some beautiful beaches (which we did do). I struggle to find a complaint with either the house or town. The directions require a leap of faith when you first arrive...you're not quite sure if the lane keeps going or you've reached the end (keep going). If you're looking for somewhere to unwind and recharge, this place has a truly beautiful location and I couldn't recommend it higher.

- Notes on accommodation: A lot of this house's charm comes from its 3 storey layout and hillside position. But this does mean that there are quite a lot of steps and so this house may not be suitable for small children or infirm guests, but we can accommodate families with small "non moving" babies as we can provide you with all the baby essentials including cot, steriliser, toys, monitor and English speaking babysitters. Outside: Two terraces, both furnished and with beautiful views. One outside the kitchen for breakfast in morning sun. Larger terrace outside living room with dining table and swing seat is shaded by old oak tree in the hot part of the day but catches the last of the sun in the late afternoon. There is also a terrace around the pool with loungers and great views of the Sibillini mountains. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels (including pool towels) and linen included. Weekly clean also included in the price. Other: Comfortable bedrooms with bedside tables and reading lights. fans. Hairdryer. Cotton sheets and a mix of feather and manmade pillows. Externally shuttered windows, allowing fresh air to circulate while keeping the rooms dark.
