Our ground floor apartment is in a fantastic location directly overlooking the sophisticated International Marina with its many superb restaurants and bars. Alternatively a pleasurable stroll around the marina stopping to admire the impressive yachts and power boats will lead you into the pedestrianised resort centre of Cala D'Or with its lively family friendly atmosphere and numerous restaurants and bars. Within walking distance are a choice of 3 beautiful safe sandy beaches, or to avoid walking you can catch the mini train which stops to the front of the apartments every hour. An open air bus will take you to the National Park area and stunning Mondrego beach. There is a shop conveniently located at the end of the marina for groceries etc.

About the Owner

We are John and Angela, we have been married for 25 years and have 2 grown up children aged 18 and 21

We bought the apartment after falling in love with Cala d'Or 11 years ago. We have had some great family holidays here and usually visit in April and October. Since renting the apartment we now have many families and guests that are regular visitors. We have both been really busy with work this year so haven't been able to visit - yet.

We run a small family business offering drainage services mainly working on social housing contracts; I manage the bookings for our apartment and am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the accommodation, location etc.

Brilliant apartment and location

Had a wonderful week (and weather!) in October half term. Apartment was great and perfectly situated just by the marina. Close to all the excellent restaurants (esp Portofino, Botavara and Aquarius) and shops. Also just a short taxi ride to Cala Mondrago beach (5-10mins). The apartment was very clean and tidy. Angela was brilliant and very quick at responding to any questions we had prior to going. Would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a place to stay in Cala D'Or :) Many thanks Angela!

Great location overlooking the marina.

Apartment was in a great location overlooking the marina and close to all the waterfront restaurants.Apartment, terrace and gardens were well maintained and apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. The owner was very quick to answer e-mails and provide information including directions and instructions for access and a contact for any problems ( if any were to arise). Lovely beaches within a 15 minute drive. Some are within walking distance and the little wooden train around Cala d'or is helpful if you don't have a hire car. Would use again and recommend to others.

Excellent Location Stunning Marina View

Excellent Location, stunning marina views

This was our second stay at Las Velas, the apartment has everything we need: Comfy beds ( the bedrooms had just been refurbished), fully equipped kitchen, nice lounge area and a really spacious terrace with absolutely stunning views of the marina. The terrace leads on to the garden area and overlooks the pool, it was really convenient to just be able to wander to and from the pool area to the apartment without having to keep locking up and go up and down the stairs every time the kids wanted a lolly or a drink!

The location is just perfect with great restaurants around the marina all within easy walking distance, beautiful beaches and if you fancied a longer walk an abundance of bars and restaurants in Cala Dor centre.

It was the little extras that made this really special for us such as FREE WIFI, Cool box and sunshade we could take to the beach, and although we don't usually watch TV on holiday it was good for the kids when they wanted a break from the sun, or to occasionally watch SKY NEWS or the odd soap. Oh and there was the free welcome pack on arrival.

Karen came to visit on our first day, she was really helpful with some good tips on beaches and restaurants.

All in all another excellent stay, we will definitely be booking again.

Fantastic location.

Enjoyed a great two weeks during September 2015.

A beautifully decorated apartment with fantastic views looking over Cala d'or harbour and restaurants.

A patio to the rear and a few steps to walk down to reach the communial pool with ample sunbeds.

Satellite TV (English channels )if you require them and wifi worked well.

Five stars from me......

EXCELLENT

Super location.

The apartment is lovely.Comfy beds.

Super Restaurants all in walking distance.

Mandrago Beach is really good., get there early if you want a sun bed.

Would love to return next year.

Location

From the Owner

When we bought the apartment our children were still fairly young, we fell in love with the wonderful family feel that the resort of Cala d'or has; we returned a couple of times before buying our apartment and Cala d'or very quickly felt like a 2nd home. We loved the palm fringed beaches, the shallow turquoise waters, the great family friendly restaurants. When we first looked at our apartment we were hooked by the view of the marina from the terrace and by the proximity of the marina from the apartment. The location was perfect, everything the marina has to offer on our doorstep and everything the centre of cala d'or has to offer within walking distance.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

The beaches of Cala D'Or, Cala Gran and Es Forti are within walking distance although you may wish to stop half way for a drink in the heat of the day. Alternatively you can catch the mini train that stops outside the apartment on the hour to take you right to Cala Gran beach or near to Cala d'or Cala Esmerelda or Cala Fererra beaches. The Marina mini train will take you to the National Park and beach of Cala Mondrego. The beaches are safe sandy coves with turquoise waters, ideal for children.

Travel:

Nearest airport Palma approx 50 minute drive. Car-hire not essential. Taxi transfer can be arranged.

Further Details:

The price includes a welcome pack on arrival and a visit from Karen who will call in and check that everything is ok for you.

  • Notes on accommodation: There are only 24 apartments in the complex, most are not available for rental. The pool area therefore is never overcrowded and sunbeds are plentiful. The marina is reached via steps approx 100 yards from the apartment. The apartment is perfectly situated with Marina to hand, Cala D'Or centre convenient yet not too close to be a nuisance and beaches within easy reach, with all this on its doorstep the development still maintains an air of exclusiveness and peacefulness. Outside: The large terrace has a table and 6 chairs and 2 full cushioned sun-beds. The terrace is partly covered for shade. The terrace leads down to the palmed communal gardens and pool area with shared pool and plenty of sunbeds. The terrace boasts the most spectecular view of the marina, it is a pleasure to sit and watch the spectacular boats come in and out. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. Linen, towel change and cleaning on a weekly basis. Visit during first couple of days from Karen who looks after the apartment to anwer any questions etc. Basic starter grocery pack included.
