I came to Portugal in 1983 for one year...to grow Iceberg lettuce for Marks and Spencer...... and i am still here!!

I started a large farming enterprise which is now owned by Vitacress Salads and then started my own farming business called Camposol.

We farm 1,500 acres of sand land on the Atlantic coast near the town of Vila Nova de Milfontes which is 1 hours drive North of Lagos.

We grow vegetables for export throughout Europe in the Winter months and turf grass for amenity and sports use. We have supplied nearly all the main football clubs including Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Portugal is a great place to live and Lagos a super place for a holiday as it caters for tourists while still keeping the characteristics of a Portuguese town.

Stayed here for 2 weeks the appartment is wonderful spacious,clean with the most stunning view.There is everything you need from a bottle opener to a book to read.Only a 5 miniute walk to the supermarket where they sell fresh bread and a 10 miniute walk to beach or Lagos town.There is a bus top right outside the appartment that takes you to Praia Dona Ana for 1.20 euro well worth a vist we went 5 times.The pool is just across from the appartment its a nice pool we took our own drinks but they do have a bar. The ower Peter is very helpful and Carlos who meet us there could not of been more helpful even told us where supermarket was and where we could get something to eat late at night.

The only downside to our stay was we did not want to come home.

Fantastic location, brilliant holiday

Just back from a great stay in this lovely marina apartment. The apartment was clean and well equipped with a really lovely balcony which gets the sun from mid afternoon onwards. Ideally located right on the marina front, lots of restaurants and drinking options within a couple of minutes stroll and the Marina Club Suites hotel pool also only a minute away. Another 5 / 10 minutes walk and you can be at the lovely sandy beach (don't miss Linda's Beach Bar - amazing!) or the Lagos town centre with masses of restaurants to choose from, street entertainment and shops. We took the land train up to Praia Dona Ana which was another beautiful beach. Really can't fault this apartment at all and would love to come back (wonder if you offer discounts for return customers ? ;) ) Only minor issues we found were no plug for the bath and although there is meant to be wifi we couldn't get it to work on any of our devices.

Compassionate owner!

We were suppose to stay at this lovely apartment in September this year, but unfortunately due to ill health we have had to cancel it. So this review is obviously not about the apartment but we felt we had to write a review about Peter, the owner. He was extremely sympathetic and understanding with our situation and was a pleasure to communicate with. He is a credit to Owners Direct and we will not hesitate to book with him in the future.

Great Apt, wonderful location & town

We stayed here for 10 nights in April and had the most wonderful time.

Communication with the owner and his local contact was easy, the process of booking was simple (once I found how to transfer money cheaply!), and it was really easy to find. We drove from Faro (hired the car in the UK before we left) in 45 minutes, but the (very quiet end-of-line) train station is only a couple of minutes walk, so you don't necessarily need a car.

The apartment was lovely, clean and spacious (2 adults & 2 children) and in a fantastic location. The large balcony gets the afternoon/evening sun and overlooks the marina - great with a glass of wine! There is a secure parking space underground, and a lift to the apartment. There is AirCon, but we didn't need it in April.

The only thing missing was a washing machine, but there is one in the marina...and there is a dishwasher in the apartment too!

Use of the lovely outdoor (heated?) Marina Club pool (in the block next door) is included and there is a bar there too (although a bit pricey), or you can wander to the Marina Bar a couple of doors along for great food and drink. The row of bars/restaurants in the marina are all lovely, we had great cocktails at LazyJacks!

There is a well stocked supermarket within walking distance, and you can walk over the footbridge to Lagos and explore the old historic town (5-10 min stroll) - very cute streets, bars, cafe's and shops to potter in.

The beautiful loooong sandy beach is a 5-10 min walk and there are a few bars there for refreshments.

We took the Days Adventure dolphin watching tour from the marina, with Zucca the Portuguese water dog sniffing the dolphins out. We saw plenty of dolphins - a large pod who played around the boat, it was truly magical.

We drove around the local area and explored the other wonderful beaches on offer - Praia de Mos, Praia de Luz, Salema, and drove on to Sagres. The whole area is beautiful, the people are friendly, and we would happily return again.

All in all a great holiday :)

Meia Praia Beach 500m - this is one of the longest beaches on the Algarve, and there is a train that stops along the beach.


Faro airport 45 mins drive. All motorway. Railway on the doorstep with connections to Algarve. Coach service available 500m walk to Lagos town.

Lisbon airport 3 hours drive. All motorway.


Lagos town in walking distance across the Marina bridge.
