About the property

Villa in Marley Vale, St Philip, Barbados - Enchanting Atlantic Coastline

Situated in a quiet residential area, the property is a 5 minute walk from Marley Vale and the East Point Lighthouse. The East Point Bar and Grill is highly recommended and is open Thursday to Sunday and is proving to be a popular meeting place for people from all over the Island.

There is a direct bus service to Bridgetown which runs regularly. Across the clifftop is an enchanting walk to Skeete Bay where you can fish off the pier alongside the locals and maybe catch a glimpse of the turtles. Close by are the beautiful Bottom Bay, Foul Bay and Crane Beach. Surfing is within 30 mins drive at Silver Point and the world famous Soup Bowl at Bathsheba.

The property was completed in 2005 and offers modern facilities. The property offers two bedrooms one with King Size bed and a second bedroom which can be arranged with either a double or single beds. There are mosquito nets available but with the cool breezes from the Atlantic close by they tend to be used infrequently. The kitchen is a modern fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, coffee maker, microwave, gas stove and ample kitchen utensils and crockery. The bathroom which can be used as en suite from the master bedroom or closed off so it becomes a shared room has double washbasins, vanity mirror, bath and shower. It is fully tiled and modern. Relax on the balcony or by the pool, bar and grill area where you can watch the monkeys play close by, enjoy the sea view, have a barbeque or just while away the hours with a cooling drink and a game of dominoes.

The bar area has recently been completed and has a bbq built inside but there is also a gas bbq available if you prefer. There are ample plastic cups, plates etc available for around the pool area.

There are four loungers around the pool with an umbrella and several seats around and under the covered bar area if you prefer to stay out of the sun. There is a table, four chairs and umbrella on the grassed area where you might want to enjoy breakfast or lunch and a small table and chairs on the patio area which most people seem to enjoy using when having breakfast.

The apartment is self contained with your own front door and access to the outside area.

About The Owner

After having visited friends living in Barbados we found we were coming back to the Island more frequently so decided to build a house here. We moved here on a more permanent basis upon completion in 2005.

We used the local workforce to help build the property and many of these have now become our friends. So if you are in the village and mention you are staying with us, you are sure of a big welcome.

Having worked in the Building Trade all his working life, Eric keeps the property up to a very high standard and has now become a bit of a tourist guide for our guests.

Louise has worked in Local Government for over 24 years and was also a Magistrate in the UK.

We have 2 sons, 2 daughters in law and 3 amazing grandchildren who enjoy coming to visit not only us but our beautiful Island.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2005

Why The Owner chose Saint Philip

We chose this area because our friends live in St. Philip and having travelled around we realised that this particular site gave us several options. We have the wonderful views, excellent walks, the cool breeze, the beauty of being in the country where the air is fresh but with the ability to access the city and the tourist areas by car or by bus. The property is set on the South East of the Island and is very close to the area of Bathsheba where the scenery is not only beautiful but is a surfer's paradise. We also get the monkeys. Being here is like having our own secret part of the Island as it is only 20 minutes from the airport, peaceful, relaxing but close enough to all the tourists attractions to enable everyone to enjoy a holiday here. Should you require help with obtaining a hire car we may be able to assist.

What makes this apartment unique

Modern, fully equipped property benefiting from dual power supply 110 and 240 current. Internet access is available so bring your laptops, you can check in online etc and spend more time on the beach. The village of Marley Vale is 5 minutes walk away enabling you to enjoy the company of the local community and be welcomed to join in their activities. There are two churches, a bar, a convenience store, direct bus route to Bridgetown, a cricket ground, two parks, wonderful views and beaches all within a few minutes of the property but also a feeling of solitude should you require it. Fishing, golf and surfing are all easily accessible and we can now claim Astronomy as an added bonus as two prominent Astronomers have been here and captured some great planetary activities. We have the East Point Bar and Grill on our doorstep offering one of the most spectacular views on the East side of the Island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was my astrophotography holiday following the footsteps of famous Damian Peach. I was positively surprised by Louise and Eric's hospitality. They have done their utmost effort to make my stay wonderful and relaxing holiday. They have taken me around the island and showed all its marvels. They have helped me with getting a good deal on a rental car. Large comfy apartment and the swimming pool are suitable for a family holiday. Location of property is away from the crowded places but still close enough to empty beach (5 minutes walk). Another worth noting point is the presence of many different birds, crabs, monkeys and sheep – all beautiful and interesting. You and your kids will love that. Birds are nesting in the plants on property so you can see chicks. Crabs were visiting me while I was out with my telescope. And monkeys are living in close by trees. When it comes to astrophotography - there is no better place for planetary seeing conditions. I have taken some jaw dropping pictures of Saturn and Jupiter here. 20 out of 21 nights I had conditions for imaging with quality seeing far exceeding that what I had at home in Europe. I will use Damian Peach’s words to describe my general impression of this stay: “Barbados I love you!” I will definitely come back here.

Excellent apartment in lovely location. A very enjoyable holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Louise and Eric's for 4 weeks in March 2018 - thanks! The downstairs apartment is completely self-contained with everything you'll need for a home-from-home holiday. If you can't find something, just ask Louise and she's probably got one upstairs - I even borrowed Eric's hair clippers! Louric is in a lovely location and is a good base to explore the whole island from. We enjoyed all our home-cooked meals outside watching the sheep and the monkeys and admiring the views of the sea and countryside. The bar, bbq and pool area are excellent too. We met many lovely people whilst we were there thanks to Louise and Eric's large circle of friends and local contacts. Special thanks and praise to everyone at the East Point Grill - great food, a great bar and an easy walk.

Amazing magical stay

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing stay in this beautiful apartment which is stunning inside and with views of the sea is peaceful and magical especially by night. The pool is amazing and we spent lots of time splashing and having fun. Louise and Eric are the kindest most generous hosts they had decorated a Christmas tree for us and nothing was too much for them. In the morning you can see the monkeys playing and by night hear the bull frogs and sounds of the sea. This was the most amazing holiday and we did not want to go home, can't wait to go back . Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Fourth visit here, and wouldn't stay anywhere else now. As always, the apartment was spotlessly clean and airy. Eric and Louise maintain this property non stop, refreshing and updating constantly. The new Bar/BBQ area beside the pool gives welcome shade on a hot day. If you want to feel like a local, not a tourist this is the place to stay. Eric and Louise can show you delightful out of the way bars and beaches, or you can just explore on your own. Cannot recommend highly enough.
