Casa del Sur is a completely and recently remodeled villa in a quiet residential area. The house has plenty of terraces on the ground level and on the roof with a beautiful view of the sea. The inside has a very homey atmosphere. The house is surrounded by a mature colorful flower garden with a large swimming pool. It is conveniently located at a 5 minute walk from the small beach of Cala Serena, at 800m from shops and restaurants in Cala Ferrera and it is at a 20 minute stroll from the center of Cala D'Or.

About Ghislaine Dallemagne

This house has been with my family since it was built in 1965 by my parents. My family and I have been spending our summer vacations there since that time. When my husband and I both retired, we decided to spend part of the year on the island. We renovated the house so that it is comfortable both in the summer and in the winter. We enjoy going to Mallorca in the winter. We like spending time visiting different towns to get immersed in the Mallorquin culture and we go from one festival to the other. Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the island, is also a favorite spot with its museums, historic cathedral and shops. I also enjoy spending time on the terraces at the house, reading and looking at boats sailing in the sea.

We really enjoy the house and its location. It is very homey, easy to live in with all modern comfort. It is in a very quiet urbanization, away from the crowd, but at a walking distance from restaurants and shops. It is second line to the sea, so we can visit the cliffs and rocks through public access points but do not have to worry about the salty water and winds, which allow us to have a very flowery garden. We have a panoramic view, looking at the mountains and the sea. We have a gorgeous and well groomed garden and we are very close to the Cala Serena beach.

What makes this villa unique

There are so many things to do when we are over there. Just to relax, the house has that beautiful garden, private pool and terraces with great view of the sea. If you want to go to the beach, the Cala Serena beach is a few minutes walk away. Walking around is very easy, with beautiful views of the sea. Some very typical Mallorquin towns like Santanyi, Felanitx, and S'Horta are very close and worthwhile visiting. Many have outdoor markets and historic churches and streets. Harbors, like Porto Petro and Porto Colom, are a short drive away, where we like to spend time walking and looking at boats. We also are very interested in the archaeological sites nearby. When we are there, even if we have the feeling to know the island very well, there is always something new to discover.

The small beach of Cala Serena is just 5 minute walk from the house. Cala Ferrera, another beach, is just a little further. There are plenty of other beaches around easy to reach by car from a 5 minute drive (Cala Esmaralda, Cala Sanau, Cala Gran) to no more than a 20 minute drive (Cala Murada, Cala Mondrago).


The nearest airport is Son Sant Juan about 60km away. It is possible to hire a car at the airport. The use of a car is recommended to do the shopping and also to explore this beautiful island.


Nothing is extremely far in Mallorca since it is a small island. The town of Palma is 65 km away. There are small towns or villages close by, each offering something interesting to visit: Porto Petro, Porto Colom, both very small harbors with nice restaurants at 10-15 km; Felanitx with its Sunday market at 15 km; Manacor and its pearls at 25 km; Porto Cristo with its caves at the same distance. There are many more places to visit if you want to venture further away.

Further Details:

In Cala D'Or, there are plenty of restaurants with menus from different countries appealing to any taste. There also, are shops, banks, night clubs, bars, grocery shops, tennis centre… you name it. Beside all activities connected with the sea and its beaches, such as scuba diving or renting a small boat, people visiting could also enjoy bicycling around Mallorca or playing golf. For the ones who like to walk, there are many walking tours with maps. The nearest golf, the Vall D'Or, is located at a 10 minute drive from Cala Serena. A scuba diving place is just at the entrance of Cala Serena. It is possible to rent a small boat (without a licence) in Porto Petro which is 10 min drive from Cala Serena.

Notes on accommodation: The villa is perfect for families with children. An armchair in the living room can be transformed into an adult twin bed. Air-conditioning unit in each bedroom (A/C from 9pm to 9am with no fee, extra hours available with fee). Large fans also available. Outside: The house is surrounded by a large garden, completely enclosed. It has large terraces on the ground floor and on the first floor (some of them being covered) with tables and chairs. It has plenty of outdoor furniture on the terraces and near the pool. The private pool size is 10 m by 4.5 m. Its depth is 1.0 m to 1.75 m. Please note that the pool is not fenced. Utility Room: The bathroom of the small bedroom downstairs is equipped with a washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: There is a maid service twice a week. Bed sheets and towels are provided. If the stay is longer than a week, there is a change of linen every week. Other: One of the armchairs in front of the fireplace can be transformed into a bed for one adult person. There are also available a folding bed and a baby cot

Wonderful villa, great location

Just had a fabulous 2 week holiday. Villa is clean, spacious and in a peaceful location. Walking distance to a lovely small beach and a couple of good resturants. Great position for exploring the island. The pool was a good size, clean and lots of fun. Kids had a smashing time with lots of bbqs and outside fun. We've been going to Mallorca for 11 years now and this is definitely one of the best areas to stay. We hope to be back again next year.

Beautiful holiday home

We have just spent a week in this beautiful house. We are a family group of 5 adults and a baby the property was ideal for us. The villa is very comfortable very well maintained and very well resourced . It was spotlessly clean and the very spacious. The gardens are very pretty and there are lots of shady corners to escape the heat. The pool is large and well maintained. The house keeper, pool man and gardeners came in while we were The housekeeper Marga met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful - nice touch of a welcome pack of water milk coffee bread jam and wine. We had good communication with the owner Ghislaine about arrival keys etc. The villa is 5 minutes walk from the pretty beach at Cala Serena it's about 10 minutes to Cala Ferrera where ther are lots of restaurants and it's a bit livelier if you carry on towards Cala D'Or. We loved the privacy, peace and quiet of this villa it made a great holiday 😎

A Lovely Villa

We have just returned from a great week's holiday at this huge villa in Cala Serena. The villa is one of the nicest we have ever stayed in and it is beautifully decorated and upkept, surrounded by a lovely sweeping garden and terraces next to a good size pool. It is clear that the owner takes great pride in the place and for good reason. It is in a quiet area and a car is pretty essential - there are a few restaurants nearby and it is quite a walk to Cala D'Or but taxis are cheap. I guess we were a bit concerned about the reported robbery but it just means exercising some care such as using the safe which is what you would do anyway. A thumbs up from the whole family and we hope to come back again in the future.

Excellent property

This property is huge, sitting on a corner plot in a quiet area near to Cala D'Or. If you want a peaceful place to stay with plenty of room then this is it. It is near enough to a few small restaurants that driving is not necessary but is also only 5-10minutes drive from the centre of Cala D'Or if you feel the need for a bit of hustle and bustle. The nearest, small, beach does get busy but with your own pool and grounds to sit in why get sand everywhere if you don't need to?

There are couple of small 'Spar' type shops with fresh bread etc each day within 5minutes walk and larger stores in 5-10minutes drive.

Accommodation was clean and tidy on our arrival plus had regular visits by a maid, gardeners and pool man.

For a chill out holiday in a homely building this is excellent.

Week in the sun

A lovely clean spacious villa set in a quiet residential area. Small beach five minutes walk away with a shop and a couple of restaurants nearby. A wider variety of shops and restaurants twenty minutes walk away in Cala Ferrera. Cala D'Or definitely worth a visit.

The only down side is that we suffered a robbery from the Villa while we were in the pool/patio area.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately, robberies can happen anywhere, especially during the tourist season. This was the first time it happened in more than 5 years at the property. To reduce the risks of such an event or other potential threats, security precautions are available and highly recommended in the house notes, including the availability of a safe, and other tips and recommendations.

If the balance is not paid on time, the contract will be void and the house will be immediately made available for rental to others. At the time of arrival, a refundable 200 Euros will be asked to cover breakage, damages, additional cleaning or replacement of the keys. See cancellation policy in rental prices.

For booking less than 8 weeks before the arrival, the total rental price should be paid in one time. Except for special arrangements agreed upon in advance, if the balance is not paid on time, the contract will be void and the house will be immediately made available to others

Changeover Day:
The changeover day is Saturday. Arrival time is 5pm when the keys will be delivered. Departure time is 10am.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in euros.
The minimum stay is usually 1 week.

Cancellation policy:
Cancellation between 8 and 6 weeks before arrival is subjected to a refund with a 30% cancellation/processing fee on the remaining 75% paid. Less than 6 weeks before arrival, there will be no refund. It is recommended that you consider buying travel insurance to protect your payment.

Booking Notes:
There is a 25% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking, the balance (75%) being due 8 weeks before arrival. There is a discount if the stay is longer than one week. Also, since July 2016, there is a tourist tax required by the government of the Balearic Islands, 1 euro /night/ adult for the first 8 nights, 50 cents for longer stay, children exempt, collected by the owner.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
