Peaceful Location, Within Walking Distance To The Village, Beaches And Marina

We chose this small complex as our holiday home as we feel it offers everything and is perfect for our children. The complex has a wealth of character and charm and is set just at the bottom of the national park. The pool is in a very peaceful setting, with a separate pool for children. The children can safely play out in the gardens. We liked the fact there is nobody above us making noise and the terrace is on the ground floor. The house is geared around parents having a holiday too, there is a tv in the downstairs twin room with a video and we have all our children's movies to watch from Toy story to Star Wars. There are a vast selection of toys in the utility room from a scooter to lillo's, buckets and spades, bats and balls etc. Our two are now teenagers so we have installed wifi and have a new flat screen tv in the lounge. The wonderful bars, restaurants, beaches and marina are a 10-15 minute walk, all retaining that wonderful Spanish feel. There is loads to do for children in the summer, trampolines on the sea and on the beach, push cars and bicycles for hire. The resort is also perfect for couples and very quiet out of the main 6 weeks school holidays. Indeed you will have the pool to yourself most of the time out of season so it is very relaxing and private. With so many great day trips nearby, like Barcelona, Valencia, Port Aventura Universal Theme Park, Benicassim, Aquaworld and Peniscola castle what other destination could be so perfect?

Top Traveller Review

About the Owner

Hi, We are Bernice and Steven. We are in our late thirties with two lovely children. We work together in our small printing company and live in Cheshire.

We have always wanted a place abroad as we love foreign travel. We spent lots of time searching for our holiday home including looking in Croatia, Almeria etc. Alcossebre just did it for us at is still Spain! We want tapas and a Spanish waiter when we go to Spain not pie and chips served by Fred! Alcossebre is also a stunning place and has the advantage of a marina as well as fab beaches.

We are a modern family and have tried to make it as comfortable and modern as possible. For me when going away my number one priority is no creatures and nothing filthy! I am fussy and I love it so am sure you will!

All the best!

A terrible place with an owner who cares less.

We arrived to find stains on the carpet ,bed linen, cushions etc.

There were even old coffee rings on the mugs.

The toilet had some disgusting rings on it that defied description.

There were duvet covers instead of bed linen and every single thing in the place was outdated and worn,

We contacted the owner for a refund as we left the next morning but to no avail, She was as helpful as her place was accommodating,

I will not use this site again as the standards are not maintained.

We used this site previously and were not disappointed but this experience was terrible.

I am forwarding this review to other sites and hope to see it appear here.

The owner hopes to rent this place for a year now ....... not a hope it would be a crime,

Owner's Response: I am not sure what a kip is and I do not have any carpets, my place is tiled throughout! Please do not listen to this deluded man who cannot spell! The fact of the matter is he messed about booking and paying and I knew from the off he was going to be trouble. When he arrived my caretaker met him and his family and she said his wife was very disappointed the house was not on the beach! Hello! Read the description. She said it was obvious she was not impressed. I also think they did not research properly and realise it was so far from Madrid where they were flying from! So the next day he rang to say he wanted a full refund the toaster has crumbs in (I am not kidding you) and they were off. I explained any crumbs or anything could easily be sorted and my cleaner could have returned to do another thorough clean but it was obvious this was just a get out clause and way to try and got money returned because his wife was not happy. Quite sad really trying to tarnish my bookings when we have rented on here for 10 years and never had one complaint! The funny thing was my husband and I had been the week before and took all new bedding and towels so knew the condition of everything was spot on and I know my cleaners are amazing! Please write your own review to help get this off my wall if you have been!

Owner's Response: Thank you kindly Nacime. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and did not listen to the dirty carpets review! Ha ha. Quite comical really the lengths some people will go to. I hope to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards Bernice

From the Owner

We love the area as it is stunning! We do not like apartments in a block as the children cannot just step out the door to play, also there is no privacy and lots of noise! So we decided a bungalow or house was what we needed. As soon as we seen the site we knew it was perfect. It is set in such a stunning place just at the foot of the hills so perfect for a morning walk, yet still only a 10 minute walk into town. The sea is lovely and clean. The pool is always quiet so you feel like it is yours most of the time. We like to take the loungers, a radio and jug of sangria! Anther fab thing is when you are fed up of sun bathing there is so many lovely places nearby like Valencia, Peniscola and Barcelona. The resort is not suitable for hen nights or youths wanting to party!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Ben Loch at 84 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Alcossebre at 1 Miles Car: recommended

There are 5 beaches in Alcossebre. All beaches are blue flagged and offer water sports, volley ball, childrens play areas and in high season some areas of the beaches have trampolines. All provide shower facilities. Our favourite is Las Fuentas which is a small bay, the sea shelves out gently and there are a few types of boats for hire. There is a small good tapas bar where you can sit for a cold jug of sangria and watch the children exploring the rock pools! Perfect.

Valencia and Reus airport is 1 hours drive, cheap flights are available with many budget airlines. We use Ryanair and Jet2. Barcelona airport is 2 hours. Car hire is recommended for the places that are of interest to visit and for the ease of reaching the 2 airports servicing the area. The motorways are excellent, and although they are tolled it works to the advantage of the holidaymaker, as locals do not use them and they are very quiet. There are also 'A' roads but these tend to be busier.

There are numerous towns and small villages a short drive away, one of the best being Peniscola. Peniscola has a wonderful monumental Arab-Medieval town centre dominated by the castle which is a short, but hilly, walk from the town. To get to the castle you have to take a steep walk up through the cobbled streets which have quaint gift shops to entice you in to buy their gifts. Aquarama Water Park Benicasim takes approximately 30 minutes to reach. This very large water park is excellent fun.

Further Details:

The bungalow is walking distance to the marina where you can hire boats for fishing, sailing, jet ski's and scuba-diving, but if you prefer, there are parking facilities at the marina. It has a full range of amenities, a shopping area, ice-cream parlour, restaurants etc making it a very interesting place to visit. There is also an English pub called Mambos, which is the hub of the English community and which makes everyone welcome. Cheers make a wonderful full English breakfast, good old fashioned English fish and chips on a Friday and a roast dinner on Sunday, just in case you are missing English cooking. The other restaurants offer a vast range of culinary delights which must be tried. The area also offers golf courses, horse-riding and, for the more energetic, tennis courts. There are mountains to explore hiding a wealth of beauty, a natural bird sanctuary that you can visit complete with hides for viewing.

There are miles of beautiful sandy beaches in Alcossebre, with names of Carregador, La Romana, El Moro, L'Estany, Las Fuentes and the Port Marina, all have been awarded with the EEC Blue Flag award for cleanliness.

Restaurants and Tapas bars abound on the sea front close to the marina, and the centre of Alcossebre is only a 10 minute walk away with restaurants ranging from typically Spanish to Chinese and English fare, which are all reasonably priced. All the food shops are filled with fresh produce daily.

Situated in the Costa del Azahar, which is midway between Barcelona and Valencia, Las Fuentes is adjacent to Alcossebre. This area is well renowned for its orange and almond groves. In January/February the almond trees come into blossom and in May its 'Orange Blossom Time'. To the north you will find the picturesque towns of Benicarlo, Peniscola, and Vinaros.

From the Owner

I enjoy the fact the children can just chill and watch a movie after a day at the beach and we can relax on the terrace. We have the music on, couple of candles, barby and bottle of wine which is a perfect end to the day when you just want to chill. It is such a lovely atmosphere and so peaceful and relaxing as we are away from any traffic that I am happy staying in some nights. We have everything for children! Surf boards, buckets, a scooter. Videos, the kids are never bored! We also have the advantage as we are in a small complex with nobody overlooking us! We just look out on the gardens. It is safe for the children to run around the gardens as there is only about 20 bungalows on our side and we can see anybody coming in and out so we fell really safe for them.
