About the property

La Vieille Ferme

La Vieille Ferme is a 19th century Tourain farm that has been beautifully renovated to 5 rustic gites (cottages) with a large open barn, lovely gardens, private parking and a superb heated, covered swimming pool

La Vieille Ferme sits on the edge of the petit village of Cléré-du-Bois, with views of the Loire countryside on one side and the village church and centre on the other. The village shop/bar/restaurant is just 100m away

The self-catered gites are fully equipped, with traditional log fires, English/French satellite TV, Wi-Fi and gardens with BBQ, table and chairs

The grounds are spacious with large open gardens, barn and large sun pool terrace to relax on. There is lots of equipment available for activities including bikes, table tennis, football goals, badminton and boules.

The swimming pool is heated and covered making it suitable for all weathers and seasons. It is ‘Ozone’ controlled not requiring the use of chlorine or salt, making it clean, clear and very pleasant to swim in. The pool has a secure child gate, the cover can be opened up along both sides and there is a jet stream to ‘swim against the tide’!

La Vieille Ferme is also brilliantly located at the centre of a number of key places of interest in the Loire, including Châteaus, vineyards, the Brenne National Park, Futuroscope, lakes with beaches and watersports, fishing lakes, golf courses, zoos and of course, many places to sample the typical French food and wine!

Very relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at The Dairy. The accommodation is great with everything you need. It was brilliant having a dishwasher so we didn't have to spend our holiday washing up! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to be able to cook a nice meal if you don't want to go out to eat. The pool is lovely and a great way to relax after a day of sight seeing or reading. We played a little badminton. There is a table tennis table there along with other games. Angela and Derek are always on hand should you need them.

This part of France has everything from Chateau to vine yards. Great county parks, lovely scenery and peace and quiet. Although it was late September the weather was fantastic and still reaching the high 20's. We would really recommend staying with Angela and Derek if you want a peaceful hassle free holiday in a lovely part of France.

A Small Piece of Heaven in the Loire

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever enjoyed. Angela and Derek French have created a small piece of heaven in the Loire with a four gite luxury conversion of former farm buildings in the lovely village of Clere du Bois. A car is essential but all of the chateaux are within easy driving distance and mostly on traffic-free roads through beautiful countryside. If you are looking for an authentic French holiday experience, this is the place to go. Mr and Mrs French live on site and are attentive, helpful and incredibly welcoming hosts without ever being intrusive. Based on the number of people who return repeatedly, it would seem that many other guests have had a similarly wonderful time there.

A magical hideaway in rural France!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at La Vieille Ferme was booked with little notice and from the first point of contact with our hosts Angela and Derek we received a warm welcome. Our holiday was booked with relaxation in mind, and when we arrived at La Vieille Ferme we soon realised this is exactly what we were going to get! Our accommodation, The Dairy, was a home from home, and perfect for a couple's getaway, with all essential amenities and lovely touches including our own BBQ and a welcome bottle of locally produced wine. The grounds, barn, sun terrace and swimming pool provided the perfect location for days of relaxing in the sun, and exploring the local area. The local bakery was closed during our stay due to vacation, but Angela and Derek accommodated with a delivery of bread each morning and were very happy to recommend some of their favourites. We will certainly be returning, and plan on bringing family with us next time!

Wish we had found this place before!

  • 5 of 5

We are lucky enough to go to France a couple of times a year and always

stay in a gite. We stayed in The Dairy for a week during May and can

only say that we wish we had found this place before. If we had, we

would have been back without doubt. It is located in a lovely quiet

village, beautiful countryside and so easy to get to the chateaux of the

Loire. The accomodation was first class: absolutely immaculate,

spotlessly clean and had all the mod cons you could ask for. There is a

beautiful swimming pool which is heated and covered which was great as

we were able to use it no matter what the weather (though that was near

perfect too) but also before the sun got really going in the morning. We

could have a swim and then head off out for the day. We will be visiting

again next year!

We enjoyed a wonderful time at this gorgeous gite. High quality furnishings and cleanliness made for a very comfortable stay. The surroundings were immaculate and peaceful. The pool was a huge bonus particularly as it was heated to a very pleasant temperature and the fact that it had a covered roof was invaluable on damp or overcast days. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful owners were always on hand. I would highly recommend this gite for anyone who is looking for some peace and quiet. The dairy would be ideally suited for a couple with one child or indeed a couple with a friend, as at one end of the gite it has a self-contained bedroom, dressing room and shower room that can be closed off by a door that leads into the open plan lounge, kitchen, diner.
